A real hip hop head is someone who appreciates all the different facets of hip hop in my opinion. Of course there's a lot of garbage out right now but there are some bangers that you can't help bop your head to. When you're at a party or cruising in your car you don't want to blast conscious shit, you want these types of tunes. It doesn't take away from your love of hip hop if you can appreciate this branch of the music genre. It just means you don't have a stick up your ass and can enjoy things.
