Its not whats said, its whats not said. All self help guru advice for the last 5 years, at least the bad stuff, can be summed up to "work hard, dont sleep". Which is shit advice, you should be working efficiently, intelligently, not just mindlessly. And not sleeping is incredibly bad for your health and your work productivity but we had it shoved in our ears for years. Success is possible, but it isnt easy nor is it always simple. If we're having an honest discussion about what it takes to succeed, then dont fall on the same trope of "work hard". Look at most people who made it and you'll notice there's mentorship, connections, investment from families, resources they drew on for knowledge or startups.

how are there not more homeless people? the majority be living paycheck to paycheck. one mistake and you are on the streets. people keep that up for 50 years. that rough. but that's how humans always lived at least now we have a stable income, a place to get food, and decent shelter. we forget our roots and look to people that live unordinary lives and treat that as the standard.

“No one wants to work” there’s minimum wage jobs out there expecting a degree and years of work experience in that field even though it’s an entry level job. People do want to work but they also also want to be payed what they deserve and treated like a human. There’s people out there who work three jobs and are still poor, the world is full of hard workers, just because they are broke dosnt mean it’s due to laziness. It’s because people like her don’t want to pay people what they are worth due to greed. That’s how the rich stay rich. So out of touch.

I remember a job where I would have to get up at 3-4 am and pack groceries for supermarkets; it was damaging to my health, and I felt awful working. I was 19, so I could handle the work at the time and ate well. I remember another woman who worked the same job as me; she had 2-3 kids (I can't precisely remember the number) and was a single mother in her 40s. She'd had a stroke and heart attack working at the job, spending 70+ hours a week for minimum wage (this is in NZ, so it's a little bit more than in the US). She'd spend time in her car in the mornings before work crying, just to then suck it up and begin her shift. Thankfully, she's a manager now and doesn't wake up at 3 am as often. I'd like to see Kim Kardashian do that for a year or two.

@@suzandefneklc8167 well of course the STEM field is the only acception. You literally have to study for science, technology, engineering, and medicine to know enough to do that kind of work. Then there's trade school where you learn to work with your hands. But most cases people are stuck paying student loans in a job that has nothing to do with their study. And most advancement in life is from knowing someone to put you in a better position. Making the right connections with the right people can guarantee to put you on the right path. OQP is a practice many successful people do. Only Quality People. You're only successful as the people you surround yourself with.

That's the parents responsibility. Schools can only teach but so much especially in public schools. Public schools teach the basics, train future generations to be obedient to authority figures and be an employee for a corporate entity. Parents have to do the extra work to teach their children to be critical thinkers, be financially literate and learn life skills. The problem is that most parents don't have the time, the knowledge or the care to do it.

My husband is a successful man. What he attributes to his success? Incredible luck. Yes, he was working on his career since he was 10, and yes, he has awesome mother, who is a successful entrepreneur and helped him with legal side of things and a loan - but the element that he praises the most is just being lucky- to be born in his family and being lucky that he could change his adolescent hobby into a business. Saying that working hard equals success is an understatement to say the least.

This resonated hard with me. My father spent a ton of money on art school, but lacked the support and connections to be able to become something in the art world. He is a wonderful artist, but never did much with it and works a job that breaks him to the bone. I myself love doing art. I draw, and create animations and am learning to put my work out there and want to make more connections but I am afraid of a repeated cycle. I have much more support than he did back then, but it is something I keep in mind when it comes to the reality of how the world works. Loved the video and appreciated the advice given. ❤️

The advice is a good one, but I feel that the plp that are pressed about what she said are mad at their own inadequacy and jealous they where not afforded the same privilege. This is how the world is some people will always have to work harder then others. Plp need to worry about their own situation and why they feel personally affected about what a person they obviously don’t like has to say. It says more about their own personal troubles than her.

A rich persons world is so different from a poor persons world. If you were born rich you dont know what its like being poor. if born poor and become rich, you appreciate stuff a lot more. (thats the difference there) For people like Kim who didnt earn her fame, her reality is just so (hate to say it) privileged that she doesn't know real struggle. She doesnt have to go get groceries, she can hire someone for that. She doesnt have to save money for an expensive buy, she can just buy it. I wonder the last time she has even had to get her own gas. We are not even on the same planet.

Networking is a HUGE thing especially in arts/entertainment. I work in Film/TV (mostly Union productions) and most times all PAs (Production assistants) are either there to scope out what they might be interested in or to network with another department and prove themselves. Most times it's literally the only way to get into a department unless your a director or producer's kid. Which happens, but there is usually a lot of resentment and anger towards the people that get dropped right into higher departments, especially from other members of that department that grinded to get there, and the PAs

Resonated with what you said about money and financial literacy in this one, and how to get ahead. My dad tried to encourage me to invest into my pension from an early age, but he didn't explain to me HOW and WHY compound interest/investments work and where money goes. This was around 2007/2008 so I knew some of my Dad's friends were having to work extra years and their pension value had decreased and they couldn't afford to retire, and I didn't understand WHY, so I was like helllll noooo I'm keeping my own money. Now that I'm a bit older I have good financial literacy, but I also remember 07/08 and know to diversify investments too. Wish my Dad had been able to explain the WHY to me. I intend to pass my lessons on to my own kids one day, and I hope they end up one more step up than I am. That said, I'm grateful that my Dad knew *something* at least and made me AWARE of managing my money even if it wasn't optimal at the time. I have lived in 15 different homes in about 17 years as a kid. I had NOTHING, I was given NOTHING, and my vision of the future was grim asf! I was your regular homie drinking out on the block and chillin with friends, chasing street rats. I went through multiple unemployment checks, and food stamps, all while going to college. I had many loved ones die on me, many of which I couldn’t even go to the funeral to. I graduated college, still broke asf no car. I got myself my first car, I went from job to job selling myself in interviews. I used to do 50-100 applications a week! Now I make 6 figures working two full time jobs, I got a career within the degree I acquired eventually, and escalated. I been practicing trading on my own, and flipped 15k to 25k in a little over a month, apparently that’s a rare situation. Now im working two full time jobs, trading, and studying real estate, to eventually finally one dayyyy make it after an entire youth of pain, suffering, and grief. Them basic kardashian empty minded fools can eat a ****! I run circles around people like them any day. I don’t even know how to ask for help without looking awkward because all I know is how to get it 100% on my own. Let this message be read by someone who needs this, thank you. From what my parents came from, they are successful, however in the eyes of our society they are middle class at best, the statement ya'll made about who you know and establishing good connections is spot on, as I move through my life working hard myself I can't count the amount of times someone less deserving would get the promotion, or some new hire that has no experience in the position (one that I would like to apply for) knew the supervisor and got it, yes working hard can pay off (it is something I can't turn off myself), but it can only go so far... it hinges on your upper management recognizing what you are doing, but if your management are filled with incompetent people who couldn't careless about yours or their position, all that hard work goes down the toilet.
