I think the best part of hard knocks is watching fans fall in love with a fringe player live (vet or otherwise) and seeing them not make the cut. Because no matter what we're shown no matter how much we love them the NFL comes down to a numbers game and they have to make hard decisions daily. I don't love it for what it does to them but I love it due to the harsh reality of the game being shown that otherwise would've just been a cut/sign tracker on a slow ESPN day for the rest of us. It brings a piece of humanity back to the sport we often lose because of what I just described.

I think things worked out about as well as they could. It appears that Barkley made his numbers clear to the Giants and they were unwilling to pay that much, the guaranteed money likely being the hang up. Schoen gave Barkley some respect by inviting him to test the market without putting the tag on him and as occurs in many of these situations, the player ends up leaving for likely less than he was demanding from his original team but slightly more than they were offering. Over time Barkley will probably realize that but right for now I’m happy he got the guaranteed money he wanted and that the Giants aren’t paying top of the market for a RB. The Giants can’t afford that luxury yet. Also, Rich I think the info you got at the combine was right. But the Giants couldn't trade up for the QB they wanted so they've got no choice but to suck it up and hope Jones can be a decent bridge QB for them. I doubt they believe he's the long term answer. The structure of his deal allows them to reset at QB shortly.

And everyone still thinks the Lawrence deal is monumentally stupid. But Jones at 20mil a year would STILL be a worse deal than Lawrence at 50. Jones at 40mil a year is the worst contract in the history of the NFL.

No team fears the Giants, and now we know why. Zero talent in the front office.

Well it shows just how INCOMPETENT Joe Schoen is. Instead of Tagging Jones he gave him that AWFUL contract. By doing so we lost 3 STUDS: Pro Bowl DB Julian Love, Pro Bowl RB Saquon Barkley and DB Xavier McKinney. Should have tagged Xavier this off-season. Daniel Useless ONLY had 165 yds PPG against EVERYONE else not named the Minnesota Vikings. After those 2 games his average shot up to ONLY 185 yds PPG. They gave one of the WORST QBs in the league $160M with a $36M signing bonus. btw the OL was YOUR fault NO ONE else's. Enjoy your last season as the GM of the NY GIANTS

From a non giants fan perspective this season has made them look very dumb. They completely dropped the ball with Barkley especially with that lame Franchise legend schlock. Heres an idea Giants how about you tell em your gonna build a Super Bowl Winner. And im stunned that any of those coaches or people in the front office for the Giants even still have a job. Daniel Jones is not a good enough player to even be on the bench. I wouldnt trust Daniel Jones to flip a feaking hamburger. The fact you can say the Jets are the best run New York Nfl team is wild. But not surprising at this point.

As a giants fan ive just accepted the fact this team will be below 500 football again. Shoen is terrible, jones sucks, and without barkley we are screwed.....

Man i didnt realize the amounts of cope Giants fans have. They refuse to acknowledge not only does their team suck but the coaching and front office as well. No wonder they wont be relevant for another 20 years.
