Celebrating the Wiener Philharmoniker’s 175th Anniversary, Deutsche Grammophon presents a limited and numbered vinyl edition - only 1842 sets have been pressed: 1842 being the year the orchestra was founded. Presented with original sleeves, this edition features recordings with five great conductors across 6 LPs, including the first release of Bruckner’s 2nd Symphony with Riccardo Muti, recorded at the Salzburg Festival 2016, as well as legendary recordings with Kleiber, Abbado, Bernstein, Karajan. The lacquers for this 180-gram set have been cut at Emil Berliner Studios, mastered from the original analogue tapes and pressed at Optimal.

Il Maestro von Karajan esigeva, a ragione, un si o un no e senza neanche tenere conto del fuso orario. Per sua fortuna il Maestro Muti ha accettato proponendosi come un direttore mediterraneo che fa risalire le proprie origini all'Impero Romano. Questa mi sembra la sintesi di questa bella intervista. Vindobòna (attuale Vienna) era una provincia dell'impero romano. Gli italiani forse lo dimenticano i viennesi sicuramente no. :o)

Forse il Maestro Muti avrebbe voluto completare l'aneddoto, ma evidentemente l'intervistatore non era all'altezza di capire e ha interrotto lo spassoso aneddoto. Chissà se Muti l'ha potuto completare da qualche altra parte senza l'interferenza di un tipo del genere.
Love how Maestro Muti looks into the eyes of this man from Deutsche Grammophon to try to make him understand the essence of what he is saying. Too bad that this guy only wants to talk about technicalities. Lost opportunity !!!
Classical music is perceived as elitist. Why not press more and make it available cheaper for everyone? This limited edition will only add to the elitism label..

True. The limited edition probably has to do with the renewed interest in vinyl, no ? Just making it cheaper is not a solution in itself, surely ?

Cold German Beer I do,I do indeed trust science - hi-res about linear characteristics, definetely not about empowering one with abilities to sense above 20kHz 😆
