I was at the the Meadowlands that night. A typical Race-Flair(which is a very good thing). The entire card was good. Pro Wrestling USA was a good idea in theory to battle McScumbag but everyone wanted to be boss and get their guys over. When that happened it was doomed to failure.

This was when Flair was pretty much a tweener in terms of his in ring persona. He would wrestle as a heel in most of the NWA territories outside of Mid Atlantic and in Mid Atlantic he wrestled more as a face taking on both heels and faces. In fact, during this period he was feuding with Wahoo, who was a heel, and Tully Blanchard.

He worked heel in All Japan. I think at this time the bounty angle took place between Flair and Harley

This match occurred when the New York State Athletic Commission had control of wrestling and made it mandatory for all wrestling to use the commissions referees. Thats why a ref familiar to WWF fans (Dick Kroll) is refereeing. A fee had to be paid to use a commission doctor, deputy commissioner, time keeper at the bell, licenses, and referees at the time.

Yes he did...that is referee Dick Kroll. He was a longtime referee in New York and Pennsylvania. He was indeed the referee for JYD/Valentine and the Womens Championship Match at WrestleMania I.

That ref was Dick Kroll. He worked MSG for decades when the State Athletic Commission still had jurisdiction as wrestling was considered "sport" rather than entertainment.
