For me, the big gold belt reminds of Sting and the NWA dome gold reminds me of Flair. That's how I always viewed those two belts. The same with the WWF wing eagle with Hogan and Bret Hart.

Big Gold Belt best looking belt in history. 10lbs of Gold represented the best in the world.

The Domed Globe belt has more "blood-n-guts" history to it than Big Gold ever did. Look at how beat up it is. The belt itself has battle scars from being whipped around, thrown down, etc. It epitomizes the toughness of what being a wrestling world champion was supposed to be.

It's currently in NWA if I'm not mistaking and billy Corgan is running it worse than Dixie Carter ran TNA. His who mentality was compete with WWE, only problem is today's NWA looks like a bingo hall promotion that makes ECW original look like WWE. The big globe belt may have the best history but it's currently in a washed up promotion ran by a washed up celebrity that doesn't know anything about wrestling.

@@mr.native5181 I agree the current incarnation of the NWA is second-rate, likely why Nick Aldis left the promotion. I'm acknowledging the historic NWA that was actually a territorial governing body and not a singular pro wrestling business. WWE likely bought the rights to the original NWA copyrights, intellectual properties, etc. grandfathered with the purchase of the failing WCW promotion.

Kerry Von Erich also wore the NWA World belt for 18 days in 1984.

The gold dome belt was the most protected and respected of any belt. Belts are passed around too much nowadays, with the exception of the NJPW title. The big gold belt is one of the best looking belts ever

I remember seeing the big gold belt for the first time at a battle of the belts with Ric defending against Barry Windham. Ric pulled his robe open upon his introduction revealing it, a huge gasp could be heard from the crowd. I got a really good photo of him wearing it.

The period when it represented the true NWA title (1975-1986) is a classic period and all the guys that held it were true legends, but as a piece of art, it falls short. Bad proportions, excessive empty space, bad grammar even. The Big Gild is so much better and always has been.

The big gold belt looks a lot better than the WWE title and the universal title.

There was a lot of great talent in the 80's NWA, but they picked the right guy to be "The Man."

What a time to be alive - to get all these legendary wrestlers to sit down and talk about all sorts of topics candidly

That's why I always stick around my elders when I'm around them cause they have the best stories and they were there like when when Ric starts remembering names from the Era. Love you Nature Boy!!! Whoo!!!!!!!

I have replicas of both belts. The domed one because of who wore it and the big gold just because of "the man" Rick Flair. It is a very beautiful belt. Thank you Rick for putting the pretigouseness in that belt.

While I can respect the “Big Gold” and it’s a great championship belt. the NWA “Domed Globe” belt is what I will always associate with as being the final “traveling champion” belt.

Made me happy to see when Dan Severn won the that very same NWA title & traveled with it around the world for a couple of years in the 90s. It was a nice throwback to what that belt & title really meant. The "traveling" real world's championship

Domed Globe was by far the greatest belt of all-time but the Big Gold was sweet -- sadly new wrestling wrecking the legacy of both belts

I have nothing but respect for Ric Flair because he was a great fighting Champion. His title defense schedule was insane. Today’s so called Champions could NOT do it . They don’t even do 60 minute matches anymore.

I wish Flair could get the 10 lbs of Gold belt back from HHH

Please...Flair used it as collateral for two different loans and got caught because he wasn't paying them. He was looking at prison, but Triple H got him out of it by paying his creditors.

I loved the 10lbs of gold l,it was the first belt I fell in love with.

Both belt are my favourite.I had two of each.The NWA Premier belt and NWA Title from Amazon.The Big Gold one is WWE Big Gold Commrative and WCW Big Gold from Fig inc

When a company changes belts every couple years it makes it less prestigous

The ten pounds of Gold should be given back to Ric Flair and then when he's ready to part with it, the belt should be then handed down to Conrad Thompson... I know the belt is in good hands with Triple H but it should've stay in the Flair family.

Flair literally owned the belt not Crockett so that’s not a far fetched thing to call it

The thinner belt was Harley's Belt.the Big Gold Belt was RIC's belt

I don't think he did. World Championship Wrestling finished here around l think December 1978....anyway it was definitely 1978.....but what I didn't know until about 2 years ago was someone must of promoted occasional tours to Sydney and l remember Ric saying he wrestled in Australia so maybe he did in 83 or 84 for a night or 2 because he wrestled Harley Race in New Zealand either 83 or 84 cannot remember now but I used to have a copy of a large promo poster when they did.

The golden dome belt lasted from 73’to 86’. I despise the WWE for retiring Flair’s belt.

the domed globe NWA, yes. Conrad owns the big gold.

10 pounds of gold has outlived the big gold. Both belts are amazing, for me however the 10 pounds is, the belt, in professional wrestling. Despite the NWA bearing little resemblance to the days of old it is still the NWA and so keeps the lineage. The world heavyweight title in WWE is for all intents, leeching off the pedigree of the 10 pounds. It still has a claim mind you , but the real world title is and will always be with the NWA.

The modern NWA is not the same organization at all. In any fashion. Corgan bought some trademarks. His claim to the lineage is fictional. And that belt is ugly.

Yes , I believe one of Ric's first title defenses after beating Dusty Rhodes was against Gene Kiniski before Kiniski retired later that year. Yes Gene Kiniski held it in 1966, after he beat Lou Thesz for it. That win gave him the distinction of being the only man to have won American Wrestling Association World title( not to be confused with the old American Wrestling Alliance back in the '20's,30's,'40's). Kiniski beat Verne Gagne in 1961 for the AWA World title.
