I'd be surprised if those nylon tip set screws would hold up over time. I like the design of the Meadow Creek better. It is self centering and acually clamps tightly from underneath the rib. I'm about to buy a Meadow Creek for my 870. Wish me luck.

I also have the same concern with the screws. I have a 20g 870 I’m going to put a red dot on, and I’m going to get the Meadow Creek one. So we both need the same luck! 🍀 😂

I will say that I have not had an issue with it holding zero or coming loose so far. So we will see. 🤞

They are magnets for theft I reckon! Glad you got it back!

I had my 12 gauge 870 drilled and tapped 30 years ago and my 20 gauge maybe 10. A #62 weaver one piece base will fit perfectly. Much stronger than the clamp on style for vent ribs. Both equipped with Tasco Pro Points. Shooting with both eyes open it's easier to keep up with a turkey's movements vs looking down the rib at a small bead.

I was going to have it drilled but was lazy and decided I didn’t want to deal with finding someone to do it. BUT, I’m going to have one of my others drilled for a reflex base. I definitely don’t want a full size red dot, I’d have that thing beat to hell and back 😂 I’ll be shooting the Jebs headhunter choke this week with 6 different loads. If it stands up to 12-15 shots of turkey loads back to back I’ll be satisfied

This would be a great option for a bigger red dot. But my goal was to stay as low to the bore as I could, especially with a reflex sight

Meadow Creek rib mount is the only way to go.

Idk, this is pretty solid. I may get the meadow creek for a different shotgun and do a comparison. But I think that the Tru Glo is a solid option. We will see how it holds up. Gonna put about 12-14 turkey loads through it tomorrow

Shot 16 turkey loads to pattern 5 load’s through a choke before turkey season. Crawled with it under me for about 25 yards, and it was still dead on when I pulled the trigger on a Tom opening weekend. I’m extremely satisfied with it. It seems to hold up well, and takes some abuse. I’d say good to go!

What no blue lock tight?

Didn’t want to put loctite in case I swapped it to a different gun. So far no issues tho.

The red dot mount should work with any ribbed shotgun. You can put many different red dots on this same mount as long as it has the same footprint.
