Ri3D 2018 - Team WPI Reveal - FIRST Power Up

Ғылым және технология

WPI has built a very impressive robot for their first year in Robot in 3 Days! Let's see what you can do in 6 weeks!
"Robot in 3 Days" is one part education and one part entertainment. Our goal is to show students an engineering process to use for strategizing, brainstorming ideas, prototyping, and building a functional robot to compete in FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge events. Teams often lack mentor support or have low resources. We strive to show methods that can be implemented using easily accessible parts and common tools.
Students: Try to not focus on our designs, but on the methods we use to problem solve. Think about this years' game and ways your team can uniquely approach it. Unsure where to begin? Try creating these prototypes and improve upon them. Have a great idea? Test it out. Good luck!

The robot didn't climb all the way in the video, it's supposed to be 3" below the actually bar due to the height of ramp.

Nick Sorensen I mean for another robot to climb since most robots are built to grab a run at 7 feet and lift themselves only 12 inches, they're rung on the bot isn't 7 feet in the air. That's why I'm confused

The robot is able to lift itself 30 inches off the ground. The bar that our robot can deploy is designed to be 3" below our hooks, so when we do a full climb the bar will be 3" below the field bar. From the carpet the bar attached to our robot will be at the same height as the field bar as viewed from the ramp. It's confusing since the robot didn't climb up all the way in the video.

@@AlexTacescu Now that only adds to how amazing 254 really is.... Their robot comes in at merely 110lbs... But they have so many more gearboxes and pneumatics....

@@HoshinoMirai yes it is amazing, they pocket a lot more though. Always a pleasure to talk to their engineers
