This dude is just freestyling on the keyboard bassline and it’s still sounds crazy

OMFG, this is not as spectacular as you make it sound. It is standard traditional West Coast production. He's emulating how bassists normally play when they get funky. Warren G is probably one of the producers who come to mind that allowed his bass players to run the scale. He was doing that bs in 1993, before all these bs 808s replaced bass melodies in mainstream music

It's so dope to finally see Rance on this series. I used to intern for him, James Fauntleroy, & 1500 or Nothin back in 2017-2019. Learned a lot from them musically and seen some of the greatest artists of our generation come thru there, including Nipsey. He’s one of the most humble ppl I know, especially for all of the success & history he's created and been apart of.🔥🔥🔥

The wowa sound He put to the lyrics is easily done, I do it all the time, it's a EQ peak manually modulated as a filter effect. The "up in the clouds" sound as He puts it is a hard frequency split EQ the exact same as the one I use in Reason vocoder on EA mode, it gives a unique sound as it cuts the frequency bands instead of moving peaks and dips in a normal EQ something also do all the time. Point being his stuff sounds dope because it's so simple using age old techniques.
that bass riff at 03:18 got me, so dope

@@dianevrules Simplicity is always more than complex progressions... That's majority of the music that's mainstream, there's nothing ground breaking about the instrumentation. But, who's counting? And at the end of the day the complete product is what's most important, not just one element. Get off your high horse, anybody that mentions the bassline, you're commenting on trying to sway people that it isn't a sick bassline, get that hate up out you 💯

I think that's because they're cutting the film to the most interesting parts of the production process. While I'm not mad at that, it is nice to hear the producers explain their thought process / actions in real time. I think this episode highlights his understanding of music beautifully!
