Whats the difference between Rhododendrons and Azaleas? In this quick walk and talk video i'll talk you through whats what! The Rhododendron Dell has just started to bloom at Kew Gardens and I wanted to share these beautiful flowers with you all.
For everyone at home I hope my videos can help you to escape during this difficult time. The gardens are so peaceful, so quiet and being surrounded by nature is the most wonderful feeling. Being amongst nature, around plants and wildlife has had such a benefit on my mental health and I hope to share all of the flowers coming into bloom and the atmosphere of these incredible gardens for you to enjoy and relax.
As one of the Botanical Horticulturists working at Kew Gardens we are doing all we can to ensure the health of our living plant collections during this time, one of the worlds largest and most important biological resources for scientific research.

That was a well done video. I really appreciated the short, fact-filled presentation that stayed focused on, and fully answered, one specific question. Also, my wife, over my shoulder said, "Tell him he has a soothing voice that's relaxing to hear."

I just cut down four 15 to 20ft full body rhododendrons from around my home.... They were enormous!
Your explanation cleared my doubts between the two. Thank you!

I too appreciate this valuable information! Now that I see a difference in the two, I will closely examine the stock card to see what I may be mistakenly passing up, especially when I see rhododendrons on clearance. Why? I would love to get my hands on some of the Autumn white variety to add glow and texture to my flower garden.

Ahh, Azaleas are a subset of Rhododendrons! I'm making a picture-book of garden flowers and have been trying to wrap my head around the differences between Rhododendrons and Azaleas for the past few days so that I accurately label the photos in my book. Your descriptions of the differences are exactly what I've been looking for, and thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!

Don't worry! There are so many plant names that are difficult to pronounce and many different ways of pronouncing the same names hehe, I'm sure there are many I don't get right too!
