I absolutely LOVED this video. I can’t image the garden of Eden being more beautiful than your rhody gardens!!!! I literally stopped the video and re-winded it several times just to see one again and listen to what the name was. Then I tried to find some of the ones I really wanted but unfortunately I couldn’t find many of the ones you mentioned for sale. Absolutely beautiful Mike!!! Thanks for sharing your paradise ❤️🌸🦋🌹🐝

I can’t wait until I can get down to a few nurseries to buy some of these plus a couple azaleas I like also. They look awesome all mingled together like how you’ve done it. It looks so nice, I can imagine sitting amongst them while drinking my morning or evening coffee or both. Great video!! Well done Mike. 👌👍👏🥰🌟🇦🇺

Mike, I'm a man and I prefer the red rhododendrons over the pastel ones. Your wife has good taste. The reds tend to be more stunning in my opinion. I do like them all nevertheless. I really like Red Gold and Fire Rim. Honestly, I did not see any blue in the Golden Gate rhododendron. It was red and pink. Blue is a cool color and that cultivar had warm blooms. Since I no longer live in the PNW, I can't really grow rhododendrons. They don't do so well here in Texas. Fortunately, I can grow roses, crape myrtles, and gardenias. You certainly do have a lovely garden, Mike!

Enjoyed the tour. Midnight mystique is so cool in bloom. That dark edge with the white, wow. Most of the dark ones I can take or leave in Rhodies. Probably because it's such a common color and we see it everywhere. My favorites are the warmer colors and the blue colors.

However I think that's a bit of an understatement. You might want to seek medical attention about that. LMAO I really liked that one with the massive blind blooms that were swelling getting ready to open. Yes I also liked the light purple one that you asked us to tell you if we liked it or not. Yes I think the black and white one looked nicer also(you asked). Starting from the beginning: yes, no, yes, yes, 13, blue, shows,1492, and yes. 😂

I can’t wait for our rhodie to start blooming. Yours are beautiful! You kept saying something about lacewings which I always thought were beneficial insects so I looked it up. Here’s what I found: Lacewings are beneficial, predatory bugs that feed on lace bugs, aphids and other herbivorous insects. Lace bugs, however, are foliage feeders capable of causing extensive damage. Rhododendron-feeding lace bugs belongs to the family Tingidae in the order of true bugs called Hemiptera.

Thank you for the clarity. I've been calling these things lacewings for years. You may have unlocked the door to my solution. I'll have to research lacewing and see if I can find a way to bring them here. They'd have a smorgasbord!

@@MikeKincaid79 I was confused about this too…we’ve had lace bugs infest trees in PA and cause defoliation as well. And as far as bringing in beneficials, there are businesses that specialize in this. I’m sure you’d find something local-ish out where you are.

I also grow rhododendrons here in northeast South Carolina but heat & humidity limit what I'm successful with, however I continue to try. I watch & enjoy all of your videos but especially those including rhodies. I also like mountain laurel, however I've never seen any on your property & curious how they would do in your

I’m a WA state native. I think Rhododendron’s are only pretty while in bloom, (about 1-2 weeks out of the year), the rest of the year they are Fugly. I bought a house one time that had Rhododendrons everywhere, so I pulled them out.

Hi Mike, great video, thanks for sharing 👍! I really love those blooms, all the colours are gorgeous! How often do you prun your rhododendrons? Is it necessary?

I do a big pruning job every 5 years or so. I like to let them get big and then I prune the lower growth. I'm training them to grow as tall and tree-like as possible.

I got some itoh peonies about 3 years ago. They never bloomed. I've been told that I probably have planted them too deep. My question is can I dig them up and replant them more shallow could they bloom then. Love your videos . Thank you. Sandra Zone 4A Idaho

Cool stuff. The logs half buries by mulch make it look more natural. Do you plant Impatients in with the rhododendrons? They like shade and the same soil. The water chestnuts came yesterday and those are planted. One bed of tepary beans had to be soaked. Strange, because they're native, but it was 97 here and the wind burned the leaves. We have had some bad wind storms thanks to wild fires last year. Kumquat is ready to bloom again. Tangerine has a nice bunch of fruit on it. Chilacayote squash is climbing the fence and calabacita are getting ready to sprawl all over. Getting some fresh chilis from the garden but with the heat turned up, donno if any more will come on for a while. The Mexican chia is up and when that blooms, it's like blue clouds. hastas nieto!

It's just insane to me, how far ahead of us all your plants are down there. Yes, the nurse logs are great around the rhododendrons and look nice too. They soak up water in the spring and give it back all summer. I don't have impatiens planted around here but that's a great idea. I've got plans to fill in with a lot of hosta.

Last year I planted a Llama violet rhododendron and this year it is in bloom with beautiful violet flowers. These are absolutely my favorite. You should get some like them for your garden as I did not see any.
