Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a detailed review on the Rhino-Rack Batwing 270 Awning. I also include the setup and pack up as well as approximate times to setup by 1 person. I discuss some of the pros and cons and my final thoughts of this awning as well as this awning in comparison with other awnings.
These are my personal opinions on this and other awnings. This is my first awning and I have owned it since early 2019. I have seen plenty of other awnings being set up and in use.
Please feel free to add any comments in regards to this awning and/or other awnings whether they are positive or negative.
If you search online you should be able to find this awning for around $700
and the walls for $180 each.
* I forgot to mention the benefit of a 270 awning over 2 square/straight/90 awnings. ie one off the side and the other off the back. This is harder to setup, leaves some space of the camp site unprotected and can cost almost as much as a 270.
* Another benefit of the 270 is for wagons or a vehicle where you need to access to side and rear of the vehicle to get to gear. Unlike some utes which can be almost completely accessed from one side.

Great and useful review, thanks mate. can you tell me if sand pegs will fit in the holes on base of the poles, cheers.

Thanks. Unfortunately not. To use sand pegs with this awning you would need to do the following. 1. make a custom peg to fit the bottom of the feet. 2. use sand pegs and a guy rope and peg off the top of each hole (this would be the preferred method, and would work just like pegging down a standard tarp).

Just bought one of these, was on the fence vs a 'self-supporting' 270 awning. Do you think you'd prefer something like the alucab?

In some ways yes because of the self supporting but that has negatives as well. In the end I am happy with what I got for under $700

@@LandySmurf That's where I'm at.... nabbed it for $700CDN and seems like most self-supporting units are $1500USD+++

@@zipdoa it is like with most purchases it comes down to value for money and that is where I think this awning wins.
