Rhein-Ruhr Osten (and Vossloh G6) Review ~ Train Sim World 4

Ойындар

Rhein-Ruhr Osten is one of the shortest (and most disappointing) German routes in Train Sim World. It only includes two forms of motive power - the Deutsche Bahn BR422 and MRCE BR185.5 - and a stupidly short route that only runs for around 31 kilometres from Wuppertal-Steinbeck to Hagen; it's pathetic.
We also have the Vossloh G6 diesel shunter, brought to TSW by Train Sim Germany as an add-on for Rhein-Ruhr Osten. This locomotive is very well-made, in stark contrast to the route itself.

For note The MRCE 185.5 is the same as a 185.2 just for more Countrys like Austria and Switzerland and for the BR422 has almost the Right sounds Ai Trains Has on all Coches sounds butt if you want to drive the 422 Only the Front car has Sounds

It's the lack of IC and ICE services that lets this down for me - like HRR it needs a new timetable. I think Steinbeck was included because of the sidings; Duesseldorf or Solingen would have made better western termini, or Vohwinkel as you say. Personally I'm glad we don't see private operators as I despise them, so I'm happy to see RE7 in its former guise. The thin S8 service isn't as unrealistic as it might seem; DB have cut back some routes to half hourly, 20/40 minute irregular frequencies or even less from the standard 20 mins.

Maik said himself he spent a ton of time to make sure the g6 physics and brakes were as accurate as possible due to his perfectionist mentality. Issue with updating timetables is that if there is one person who would do it, it would be only Joe. Since the preservation crew doesn't exist anymore, dtg would need to get more staff to make new timetables Another thing is that modeling the entire schwebebahn with accurate physics, sounds, simulation, timetable and making it drivable would have required many months of work like any other route. Dtg wouldn't have done 2 routes for free.

Do you think I'm not aware of how much extra work a functioning Schwebebahn would require? All I was doing was criticising the rendition we got in the final product; it still looks terrible, even for a basic Ai-only thing. I'm not expecting any devs to make routes for free in this game. I would happily pay for a drivable Schwebebahn.

I pretty sure this route is from train sim world 2, in the route introduction it says “ welcome to train sim world *2* (route name).” So I’m not sure if they were planning this earlier and didn’t bother to change it, or my PS5 is acting up.

No, this route was definitely released before TSW2. Not sure why it'd be showing the 'welcome to TSW2' message; I don't play TSW on a console.

6:49 even tho I'm not in the Rhein-Ruhr Area often as I live in the east of Germany the sounds just sound wrong. I feel like the running noise i s way to loud. 10:50 there is a floating catenary holder in the background! Anther general issue I have with TSW (or most train sims) is that nothing will proabbly go wrong; there are no random signal failuers (or however you spell it) every run is just "perfect" start to finsh. I want to something happen every few runs or so. A German train sim called "Zusi" already has a feature like this: the "chaos" factor.

Interesting review of RRO. I've also spotted some of the problem while driving along the route, especially the poor quality Schwebebahn and the catenary doing wild things. I really don't get why they didn't do the correct GTW 15, as it is an error you instantly spot qhen you have been to Wuppertal at least once. As for the overuse of the Class 185 in the modern era (185.2 and 185.5 are basically the same), this is somewhat caused by the real problem of "overuse" of this locomotive here in Germany. It outnumbers other freight locos by a big margin. However, another well established and almost universally usable locomotive - the Class 152 - is still missing. The units may look familiar, but it is a completly different loco. As for the other important german freight engines, these are all part of the game by now (Vectron & 182). Smaller engines like the Voith Gravita may be a nice addition, but these would need a specific route as they aren't present anywhere. Additionally, a better mix of layers and more liverys of the Vectron would benefit the freight services. Coming back to RRO, I agree with your conclusion. The route could have been much better if they had made it longer and improved scenery. An inclusion of the Schwebebahn would have been nice, but not necessary. This would have been a complicated task at the time of development as the Schwebebahn was closed at that time. As it currently is, I do enjoy driving around on RRO (I do short services often because my time doesn't allow for longer ones) but I would never buy it again for the amount DTG asks nowadays.

I've heard of the BR152 (got her in Train Simulator too), but I don't know what the differences are between the 152 and 185. There's a lot of German freight engines (besides the 152) I'd like to see in this game instead of DTG using the 185 so often; including the ER20 Eurorunner, DB BR247 'Vectron' diesel and BR189 electric.

@@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga The 152 and 189 were part of Siemens EuroSprinter platform (which eventually lead to the Taurus) for use in freight services. While there are almost no differences between 152 and 189 (189 is equipped for other voltages and countries), they share almost nothing with the Traxx platform (185) apart from the style. The mayor benefit of the 152 and 189 would be that they could layer on almost every existing TSW route in Germany as they are very common too. ER20 and 247 were some really cool additions indeed. DTG would need to find an appropriate route for them but there are some decent options. A layer onto existing routes would be possible but only for a limited number of services (freight trains with Diesel are very uncommon on electrified routes here). I wouldn't mind if other countries would get more (or any) representation in TSW, but since Dovetail will continue German routes anyway they should think about creating more German diesel locos anyway as even iconic ones like the 218 are still missing.

No, as these two routes are apart by many kilometers. The term "S-Bahn" doesn't mean a specific route, but a certain type of service. It's just like RE for Regional Express or ICE for InterCity Express.
