When my current gas heater dies, I'm replacing it with a tankless one. Thanks for the demo.

Thanks much . I appreciate the comprehensive tests. I'm trying to decide if a single 18kW on demand heater works for 1 shower + sink. Other variables include: warmer input water (mine is about 50F) low flow shower heads.

If I remember, an E1 code is related to gas (BTU) supply. Do you have a line diagram for your gas appliances? You'll need to know what your gas meter is rated for. Then you'll need to add up all the BTU amounts for all your gas appliances. Each gas appliance is basically rate for a 1/2" pipe size. If you have three gas appliances, your supply line should be 1-1/2" pipe, dropping 1/2" for each appliance run. Contact your gas company. They can help with this.

I’ve used an Rtex-18 before. So do you press the silver button if you know the hot water usage is going to be high or just preset everything at certain temperatures?

Right now I don't use it. The gas water heater is cheaper to run and the hot water demand is low.

Code H103... just brand new installed. Never heated at all but all i see is people saying that it's a high limit error. How do I fix this?

If it's new, it should be under warranty. I would suggest ohming out your limit switches to start.

You should have tankless valves hooked up so once a year you can descale the tankless unit especially since water is sitting in there not being used for long periods. And i would also go as far as when u have it not in use you drain the tankless so water is not just sitting in the longer than 24 hours without running. Alot of tankless heaters that go bad is because ppl don't install the valves to be able to easily descale the unit once a year.

That my problem with my hard water. I have an extra set of elements and I rotate them every few months and soak the old ones in vinegar.

I believe turning it off resets it.

If you set it to 120 and use just the electric heater, you will save money.
