Not to be rude or anything, but I don't think everyone can understand how rare and speciall this musical spectacle is. The tightness of Flea and Chad. The melody John finds while playing and making it to a long melancolic jam. The tempo decreases and uptempo moments. The complex things they all do in the heat of the moment. This is what happens when the human brain and heart joins forces together with others and creates magic. This is the reason I started playing guitar having John as my idol. This is why I still play music and it's what music is all about.

  • @strat_guy

Spot on. Perfectly said, mate. John, Chad and Flea in these moments is pure magic. Only a musician can truly understand. This whole jam is on another level, but John from 4.40 onwards is why I play and what I strive for. Enjoy ppl ✌

i just had a discussion with a guy that has a pretty big music related channel on how john frusciante was the best guitarist in the world to me, but only because he had flea and chad to be behind him, they are constantly keeping up with his changes during solos, in which keeps everything sounding good because when it comes to solos johns not exactly one for rhythm. final jam is a pretty good example of that, it feels like the bass and drums are just a fraction of a step behind him leaving enough time for johns constant changes. i feel like what john does is full expression of emotion through an instrument, and really didnt get criticized for it just sounding like noise, compared to other players of this style such as page, and hendrix that alot of people were saying all they did was make noise. not true but that criticism is real.

To all the people criticizing on Frusciante: a solo doesn't always have to be technical or difficult. Even though I can surely appreciate a good technical performance on the guitar (e.g. Vai, Emmanuel, Satriani), in the end, music is about emotions. Listening to this jam gives me so much energy, even though it might not be a very difficult jam. It's raw. Take B.B. King. He differentiated himself by keeping it as simple as possible. But with so much feeling in every fucking note. I can feel the energy in this jam - it takes me away. That's the highest you can hope for as a musician, in my opinion.

I wish I had talent like that. I can watch John in this video, and feel the emotion from his facial gestures of pain during different riffs. I do the "Air Guitar" and feel it...I don't care if that sounds weird. The ups and downs of this solo mean sadness, heartache, and then a little bit of redemption.....and then accepting it. That's how it makes me feel. A beautiful true story of love and loss.

To be fair imagine first of all beginning as John's best friend and just doing a few songs here and there with him and eventually meeting the rest of the band, then opening up for and touring with them with your own band, then being asked to be back up rhythm and do a bit of stuff on the keys, then being asked to join the band as the new lead guitarist, then being inducted into the Rock n roll Hall of Fame with them after only officially being the lead guitarist for only a year or so to then eventually play in front of one of the wonders of the world's. Say what you want about Josh but the guy has had a hell of a career and experience with this band. Not to mention he was once just a guitar player for Gnarles Barkley and Beck, and managed to jump from that to a member of one of the most successful bands in the world

This was Frusciante’s last ever jam with them on the road. He knew in his head this was the end of the road for him with the RHCP and poured his heart and soul into it and took centre stage and gave us one last bit of genius. Amazing!

This dude is incredible. The way his fingers connect with and dance up and down the strings. He knew, from a young age, that he wanted to be a rockstar. Got the fame and fortune and it smashed him hard. Became a recluse and addict, yet those seemingly dark times produced some of his greatest music! So glad he bounced back with good support and is still playing!

It’s sick how they communicate to each other with the music and they now when to start and stop, and when the slow down is coming, or when it speeds back up and then ends abruptly ,.. such beautiful chemistry and I’m so glad that new music will soon fill our earholes,..

Frusciante is one of those artists who, in order to be special, didn't mind emotionally entering the abysses, on the contrary, he needed to enter them to see the dark side of life. That's why he knows how to locate chords and notes from another world, the same thing happens to some painters. I understand John's creativity perfectly.

I really like his style. It’s not my personal favourite in terms of music style (I’m a blues/ rock ‘n roll kinda person), but what I like so much about Frusciante is that he has the skills, originality, musicality AND feeling and passion combined on a very high level. Great to watch. ❤️
