    I have said this before, but Govee is a very innovative company and has great products. I prices are very reasonable too. Aqara is great how each device goes to a hub and not WiFi. I just wished one of them was more than 6.5’. I know they can be extended, but 1’ at a time is crazy. I wished they would do 3m extension. Great video and overview of the products. We need more videos that does side by side comparisons on items like these light strips.

    Great video Shane! I purchased the Govee M1 for my stairwell, but realize that I’m really not utilizing all of its benefits. The Aqara T1 seems like a better fit for my stairwell based on the fact that the whites are better, and the fact that it is a repeater would allow me to have better connections with aqara products upstairs. Great review as always. My first light strips were Nanoleaf. They're solid but I still don't understand why they haven't come out individual colours like all their competitors. I thought Matter was supposed to end the requirement of hubs!

    you can add your M2 hub for example to apple home via homekit and Matter at the same time. Yes you will get duplicates, but you can hide duplicates. then you can have your Aqara strips with Adaptive lighting via HK and use Matter for other connections if you wish. #MatterBridge. Yes, currently binding your Aqara hub to Matter is optional in the settings. I can't guarantee that they don't automatically update everything to Matter one day. I assume they wouldn't as long as there are still features like this that Matter doesn't support. They would probably upset many customers which they wouldn't want.

    Shane, aqara hub can use matter and homekit simultaneously. My hub is connected to google home via matter and apple home via homekit what is the problem?

  • @ShaneCreates

    @ShaneCreates

    10 ай бұрын

    That's correct. It's complicated to explain (I tried... lol). The problem is that when you bind your Aqara Hub to Matter, you will then have duplicate Aqara hubs in the Apple Home app, assuming you were also using the traditional HomeKit integration of the Aqara Hub. Assuming most people wouldn't want duplicate accessories in HomeKit, most will probably delete the original hub in the home app once they bind the hub to Matter. The original homekit integration (the old way, before Matter) is required in Apple Home in order to export lighting scenes and utilize adaptive lighting. I hope I explained that well.

    I think most HomeKit users have an Apple TV or HomePod mini (s) but not many have an Acara hub. Therefore, in your price comparisons you needed to include the price of the hub in the Acara setup for an accurate comparison. Also no mention of outdoor use for any of these light strips, so I assume none can be used outdoors? I’m still firmly in the “no hubs” camp. I will not buy anymore “HomeKit” devices that require yet another hub. I think hubs will eventually go the way of the dinosaurs.
