I’m made my z axis just like yours but I get a little vibration that causes the the thousandths digit on the dro to fluctuate. Did you have the same issue. It seems there is a small vibration in the shaft connected to the quill when the machine is on. It makes I very difficult to have any fine accuracy.

The resolution of my DRO is 0.005mm. In my case it wasn't a problem, but to improve it, think about how to fix the Z-axis rod to the top as well.
