Shea wasn't beautiful, it wasn't fancy, it wasn't modern, but it was a great place to enjoy a ball game and I miss it. Love how how loud it got when the crowd got into the game.

@@TheLocalLt Lets be honest dude, the old Yankee Stadium was a dump too. I loved going to Shea a lot more than Yankee Stadium. Shea at least had the awesome scoreboard and the huge open gap in the stadium made it feel so open and airy. Like you were watching a game in a small town somewhere in the middle of the country.

And then in 2007 and 2008 things just fell apart. The 2006 Mets were, in my opinion, the best Mets team since 1986. The 1988 Mets are also up there. The 2015 Mets were more of a Cinderella team. 1)the very talented blue jays couldn't win with Reyes in their locker room then they get rid of him and go to the Alcs 2 years in a row. 2) after the Rockies aquired reyes in 2015 they got 16 games worse that same year. 3) 2007 and 2008 biggest collapses in history Reyes hit under 200 during the collapse and the team lacked urgency and focus. 4)2012 Marlins were supposed to have a bright future with Reyes instead they get rid of him after the first year of a 5 year contract one of the biggest underachieving teams in MLB history 25 games under 500 with reyes 5)the 2013 blue Jays were picked to be a 90 + win team instead they finshed in last place wth Reyes. 6)2017 mets underachieving disaster 22 games under 500 with Reyes. Jose reyes is the rare person that destroys every team he is on menatlly ill bleaching his hair laughing non stop including when the team is losing. His unhealthy personality messes upeveryone's timing and makes guys lose urgency without them realizing it. Worst move in mets history bringing back that Virus

A lot of comments on here about Keith Hernandez’s remark about how this is the loudest he’s ever heard the stadium, despite obviously his experience with the 86 Mets.. in my opinion, he was speaking from the perspective of an announcer and his experience in the booth, but more so I think he wanted Reyes to get all of the credit there and not overshadow it by mentioning The glory days of the championship team. I think it was a classy move on his part that no one is giving him credit for.

He went to Miami, Toronto, and Colorado, was never great in any of those places, released by Colorado for some off the field conduct reasons, and went back to the Mets, where he'd gotten old and wasn't anything like the player he once was. Then fittingly, the last game he played for the Mets was also David Wright's last game. Seeing the two of them on the left side of the infield for one last time brought back memories.

  • @tripla_jay

Take a look at it again. He does make an attempt to catch it but he did not drop it on purpose by the looks of it. If it had hit the hell of his glove or he would have bobbled it, then it would have been an error. Otherwise it is not. Error is given to a fielder if he messes up a play which requires "ordinary effort"

Reyes was placed in a bad situation there. He was planning on staying with the Marlins for a long time due to them being close to his home in the DR, Marlins then traded out of the country unexpectedly leaving him in a place he didn't want to be.

4)2012 Marlins were supposed to have a bright future with Reyes instead they get rid of him in the first year of a 5 year contract one of the biggest underachieving teams in MLB history 25 games under 500 with reyes 5)2017 mets underachieving disaster 22 games under 500 with Reyes. Jose reyes is the rare person who is a that destroys every team he is on menatlly ill bleaching his hair laughing non stop including when the team is losing. His unhealthy personality messes upeveryone's timing and makes guys lose urgency without them realizing it. Worst move in mets history bringing back that Virus
