By all accounts, the script is in development hell. Even Lindeloff left because of “creative differences”. There is simply no way the script is ready for 2025. So many screenwriters have been brought in to “fix it” that they may be contemplating starting from scratch entirely. They can always start filming without a script but we all know how that will turn out

The first Star Wars film came out the week of my 17th birthday. My girlfriend got me tickets to see it. I was amazed! It was the most incredible thing that I had ever seen. Now, I can't be asked to even give half a shit about the entire Star Wars universe. It's become a sickening mess of identity politics.

Absolutely, will not continue to give Disney any money to tear down our legacy characters. They are insane!

The Skywalker family were the heart and soul of the Star Wars films. Rey is not a Skywalker. Her taking the Skywalker name at the end of the ninth film was simply Kathleen Kennedy's final slap in the face at the fandom and George Lucas' legacy. Continuing her story is just going to further wreck Star Wars lore and lose Disney even more money. At this point only Lucas' Prequel and Original Trilogies should be considered canon.

Now it’s Disney that will be pushing back Star Wars movies to avoid conflict with other movies. What a sad place we’ve found ourselves.

Unless Rey turns to the dark side or ends up actually being possessed by Palpatine since she technically did kill him, then I'm not watching this movie. She robbed Finn and Luke in broad daylight and we are forced to accept that.

Nobody has told her that's apparently around 70% of Star Wars fans out before she even starts then. Its gonna be adorable when she realizes, she might call us all bigots!

Disney logic is like this (example with coffee maker): Ppl like coffees from coffee maker. Disney takes this coffee maker, dismantles it and makes a brand new utensil with shiny colorful chasis that however does not make coffee anymore. Yet they wonder why ppl don't like these adjustments.

Daisy Ridley cannot carry this on her own. She is not charismatic enough and the writers they're sticking her with are not good enough. They have, plotwise and in treatment of actors, stripped that character of every supporting actor who could help her out.

Star Wars X : A New Enshittening ... Rey resolves to ban war, and mind wipe bellicose tendencies from the male padawans... Steven Knight is excellent, on his own creation, Peaky Blinders. He wrote See, which was interesting but weak. Working with LFL will be miserable, so presumably he's coining it. That's fine. But why not get a SW or sci fi writer to do it? Since there's no script yet, I have difficulty believing this will hit theatres in less than 3 years.

Disney made so many huge mistakes since 2012. Soooo many crap ideas, films & plots that went nowhere. Lucas wanting $ hurt the creative part too.

Disney's strategy seems to be consistently drowning out any and all criticism with both fingers in their ears!

Death on arrival... would be the first Star Wars movie that I don't watch on the movies theater, but probably wait until it comes out in regular TV

The only way Disney Star Wars film would appeal to the general public. Is make Rey a ultimate girl boss sith. And its up to Poe an Finn to work together to turn her to the good side. They are her only friends because they met Rey for 5 or 10 minutes in the movies.

Make the reveal that Rey was actually possessed by Palpatine and have her cause chaos throughout the galaxy. The whole trilogy would be about Finn becoming the Jedi that he was supposed to become in TFA and Poe... I don't know, being Poe? Best case scenario: Rey sacrifices herself and Finn takes her place, being the better character and being the one to create the next order.

The nice thing about this as that I can be confident that it will continue the Disney/Lucasfilm trend: we will continue to be entertained by the people reacting to this more than the product itself. And the predictable meltdowns the company and 'reviewers' will have when it bombs (or gets negatively 'review bombed').

If Disney indeed does not learn the lesson, then the Rey movie is doomed to failure; I learned the term "cascade failure" from an episode of The Expanse, and that's literally what has been happening at Disney. There comes a point of no return, where the entire brand is poisoned beyond salvage because they don't course correct and fix the broken hydroponics and life support systems.

Good stuff. Yes, for sure, Rey Palpatine is the heart and soul of Star Wars.

I honestly never had a problem with Daisy Ridley, or her portrayal of Rey, but I do remember looking at the screen in that first movie and wondering "how did she get so good at all this stuff? She is nobody!?!" But as an actress, I think she did a good job, which made it easier to watch. I just had to turn off the "I want to see a Star Wars movie" side of my brain, and turn on the "I just want to see some flashy sci-fi on the screen" side in order to get some enjoyment out of the movies she was in.

Sad... Has been a fan since the EP IV came out in 1977... To witness how Disney has destroyed the franchise, just heartbroken completely

I heard an interview with the Director of Dune and he said that he's taking a very long break to do other projects for now and that he would revisit Dune but not anytime soon. The characters are supposed to be quite older in the third movie.

I think they should make these movies. I think they should pump BILLIONS into the franchise, preferably as quickly as possible. I support my favourite content creators, and it's nice to see Disney keeping them all in work.

Well I was going to ask how low can they go. WOW! I already know. Man oh man they just won't stop will they. I believe they call that insanity. Doing the same thing over and over thinking they'll get different results.

Only way to make this movie palatable is if Rey struggles for once and if the ghosts of Anakin and Luke are there to guide her. Showing that despite everything the balance is still involving Anakins family. There's a ton of other questions but that might be a step in the right direction.
