The laughter in the room is disturbing. This is NOT a talk show. This is serious. We have become so used to Trump being the target of jokes that when these deadly serious conversations occur we believe them to be a continuation of that humor. I agree with everything you said, but remember that millions of people voted for Trump to run this country. These people made the choice that Trump is better for this country than Hillary would. To them this is all fake news. Trump found a way to discredit any type of journalism in this country and all the US Gov. Institutions. So it does not matter what he does, his base will always support him. No matter the infraction he commits. That's the part that keeps me up at night.

Is anyone surprised? Trump never likes to read anything longer than a magazine article, he doesn't issue policy plans that take days to develop, he just sends out short tweets. This is a really sad, sad story. "I will be honest with you, it troubles me that the American people seem to want to know so little about issues, that they are satisfied with 128 characters," laments Rex Tillerson. Yes, we have become lethargic, having neither the time nor the energy to be bothered with the facts. "I haven't got all day, you know." How about 15 minutes, as it might take that long to appreciate what went on. Human affairs are not simple -- notwithstanding our relentless efforts to make them so. Indeed, it is only by appreciating their complexity that we can come to understand our own selves. If the proper study of man is man, as Alexander Pope said, then understanding the human condition should be our lifelong effort. And there are no shortcuts to this endeavor, or to the understanding of anything else, as Aristotle warned us long ago.

Trump for being an egotistical illiterate with a racist streak a mile wide, and the Electoral College system for being an archaic relic of indeterminate usefulness, that too often decides elections in favor of the loser of the popular vote. The vote of the people thrown aside so a select group of individuals, unknown to most Americans, can decide the election. We seriously need to dump both of these; the Electoral College ASAP, and Trump in 2020. Notice I didn't say Trump immediately, as the threat of Pence as president is far worse.

it's also possible that these briefings are not as useful as you may think. Depending on the administration the PDB's have been read closely, received-but-unread, or just plain ignored. But there seems to be zero correlation between the PDB receipts and the purported success of the Presidencies. In other words, just because someone tosses some information in your face doesn't necessarily mean it is useful. You can love the President or hate him but the Presidential Daily Briefings are a lousy litmus test.

When you compare him, a greedy immoral corporate businessman to a sociopathic brainless child that trump is, yes Tillerson would look like he has values. Putting an awful person right next to an even more awful, and, what's more, inept, person makes the former look better.

Of course he does, everyone does. His values are greed and self-interest. He values the profits of exxon-mobile over the expressly stated human rights values of the United states and generally accepted universal human rights. His track record, particularly in Iraq and Africa prove that. So yes, plenty of values.

And another two minutes to tell them how important it is that they sit up straight. just looking at them makes my back hurt. They probably told the one on the left to sit up so that she equals the height of the one on the right, but... there's also the option of lowering the chair?... It seems there is so much pressure to sit act speak a certain way..body language, etc...so tiresome. There's probably a manual...and you have to sign off on each point acknowledging that you adhere to standard protocol reagrding posture, eye contact to person speaking, allowable interruptions, pauses after key points made, etc etc etc...

According to an anonymous source claiming to be a senior official in the administration: "It's like showing up at the nursing home at daybreak to find your elderly uncle running pantsless across the courtyard and cursing loudly about the cafeteria food, as worried attendants tried to catch him," the person writes. "You're stunned, amused, and embarrassed all at the same time. Only your uncle probably wouldn't do it every single day, his words aren't broadcast to the public, and he doesn't have to lead the U.S. government once he puts his pants on."
