You do realize they used one here right? You literally see it early on testing the top board, and its how they got that hazy layer that revealed the shorted socket pin. You don't _have_ to have one. But its a very affordable tool that can be of great help finding full or near-shorts. Not needing to shell out for an expensive thermal camera with a useful resolution - that I get. But dissuading people from getting as useful a tool as this given how cheap they are, is borderline telling people to save on flux when replacing BGA chips. If you do board repair daily, you could most likely more than recover the cost of an atomizer pen and a tin of hard rosin before lunch, by the time saved troubleshooting one board meaning you could fix another extra board using that time saved.

Based on my reading, the causes was a shorting in which connector, refusing to starting up and stuck on Apple logo [which you can see the voltage increased and decreased abnormally], by analyzing the short by resin can be concluded if the shorts found and replaced a new connector. As result, the iPhone started up normally without issues after reassembly

Basically the board had a short. The foggy thing is rosin it mentally when heated and he found the short used a diagram to figure out where it went and done!
