REVOLUTION: Transfer Overhaul & Tactic Tweaks | PAOK | Football Manager 24

It's time for the summer clearout, and I might've been a little too trigger happy! We've also taken a closer look at some tactical shortcomings and put in some new plans for the season ahead.

    It's definitely difficult to look past results. Thankfully, this was something I noticed early last season (hence using the other formation most of the time), but I was too scared to try out the tweaks during the season when I had an alternative already that worked 😂

    A bit late but as a PAOK fan and FM enthusiast I have the answers you are looking for. Fivos Botos is an AEK former player who looks decent in almost all stats but is constantly performing above average ratings. That is in FM, I dont know what he is capable of irl. Great find for a nation grown player, great for European competitions😉.

    Love the content. Truly believe its the best FM series on KZread. Just a quick question, in order to properly utilize the pie charts for scouting and recruitment do you have other leagues turned on and if so do they need to be playable or can they be view only?

  • @mustermannfm

    As with anything, the more detail you are able to run, the better. I covered the league set-up in the opening video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mGF8lqmfd5zTeJM.html Data from leagues that aren't loaded at all is unreliable, but view-only is sufficient. For example, Netherlands - I have Eredivisie playable, and view-only below; with Fivos Botos signed from an Eerste Divisie club and the data available for him is serviceable.

    Hey, great video as always. One question regarding your skin. What is the data basis for the pizza shard. What do they compare to? the league the player played in? Variouis league combined (like Top5, Next 14 etc.)? Or sth. completely else? This is rather important for rating the numbers. Thanks in advance

  • @mustermannfm

    @mustermannfm

    Details are taken from here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nGyHwa6OpdS_oqQ.html *WHAT IS A PIZZA CHART?* theathletic.com/2746113/2021/09/12/a-guide-to-smarterscout-and-understanding-the-athletics-pizza-charts/ (requires subscription) In simple terms, it’s a chart showing a high level view of how often a player performs a specific action and how that ranks when compared to their peers. The bigger the slice, the higher the player ranks. A player in the 90th percentile for a category means they perform that action more than 90% of other players. The pizza chart is calculated at 5% intervals, and each concentric circle represents a 20th percentile. It is based loosely on the above article from The Athletic, adapted to work with the metrics available within FM. I have analysed 26,000 players playing more than 900 minutes in the Top 20 domestic leagues, breaking down each metric by position. Due to limitations this means the underlying data is static. For example, an Attacking Midfielder who completes 4 dribbles per game will always be ranked in the 90th percentile, even if at that exact moment in your game world there may in fact more or less players better than them. The same metrics are used for each position (except goalkeepers) to enable you to understand the tactical profile of a player. Forwards will be involved in a defensive capacity, and defenders will be involved in an attacking capacity, and understanding how a player compares in his position in all aspects of the game is important.

    @@TheKptnBlaubaer I should also add that Top 20 was chosen based on some preliminary tests I performed, which showed that performance adjusted relatively consistently to those respective leagues. E.g. What would be the 90th percentile in the EPL was very similar to what would be the 90th percentile in the Juniper League. Obviously, you would then have to recognise yourself that those leagues are different standards. From around the 21st league below, there was a noticeable drop. What would be the 90th percentile in English League Two, for example, would be around the 75th percentile in the Top 20 leagues. However, these preliminary tests were performed at the beginning of FM24 to determine how wide the main tests should be, and those differences might change with each patch. In the interest of time and sanity, I will not be performing those initial tests again with each patch, but I will be doing the main tests to update the percentile boundaries.

    @@nikolausryczek Primarily attacking midfielders. The data was compiled using each players "best" position to determine where they play, and attacking midfielders consist of all players in that strata. Shame on you calling Ivan B***. Ivan Savvidis is a legend for PAOK a Greek from the area of Pontus (black sea) who was forced (his parents and grandparents) to migrate in Russia. I share the same surname with him, not relative as we are too many with the same surname, but I am very offended as a PAOK fan. You have no idea how many people he is helping in Greece (especially in Macedonia) and his investments in the area revived this region in a difficult period. He has made countless donations, and his investments are not to gain profit in the last 15 years. He funded Greek universities in order to keep alive the Greek Pontiac dialect (around 2 million Greeks are from that region who was forced to migrate during the early 20th century), which his family used for decades. Ivan Savvidis in a legend for every PAOK fan, and most of our families shared the same hardships his family faced. He is a very friendly person, like a nice grandpa, shares old fashioned family values and he is very down to earth. He hugs people, not dressed like a rich person and not behave like them. A common folk.

    I'm sorry you found this offensive. I want to understand further, as my initial reaction is that your response seems rather disporportionate. This response is because I called a fictionalised version of Ivan Savvidis in a video game a b*****d for adding new objectives to the Club Vision and refusing to upgrade the training facilities after they were downgraded? Or is it because whilst making that joke, I also included articles that mention the controversies surrounding him? Is that correct, or, maybe there is a different reason all together?

    @@vangelissavvidis4759 I mean he is, objectively. He's a naturalised Russian, who served in Putin's cabinet. His privatisation of Donskoy Tabak at the fall of the Soviet Era makes him an oligarch. It's like saying that Al Capone was an Italian philanthropist because he opened Soup Kitchens in Chicago. Sure, Capone did some good things, but he was still an American gangster 😂 Anyway, none of that stops you wanting to like him. It's also not going to stop me from making jokes at his expense.
