Reviving the RAREST Nation in Victoria 3: It’s MORMON Time™!

Ойындар

Have you ever dreamed that Utah stretched from Seattle to Santiago? Does the idea of the Mormon Market controlling EVERY industry interest you? You’re in the right place. In today's alliterative adventure, Paradox Interactive challenged me to come up with the hardest campaign I could imagine. Naturally, this involves reviving an obscure, unpopulated and releasable nation and transforming this secretive state of Deseret into a superpower that dominates the world, drives the global economy and seeks an ever increasing amount of charitable "contributions" to feed our transcontinental congregation. This is the story of Deseret; and yes, we’re about to MORM.

@@poo_ass4174 Yeah I think I'll try Merina kingdom or Solomonids once I grasp the mechanics. Yesterday I tried Hudson Bay Company and I failed to be the biggest GDP in Canada(thus unable to unify it). I increased GDP to £700k but Upper Canada had £950k then their GDP shoot up to 1.3 million in 3 years and I was like "bruh ;_;" Edit: I tried Merina Kingdom. It was hella cool. First I tried to develop my economy all by myself but it didn't work(I was also isolationist so I could not import goods) so I improved relations with GB and became their protectorate. This allowed me to access British Market. British market had some expensive goods such as cloth and furniture. So I built furniture manufactories and textile mills. Cash started coming in. The hardest thing was researching technology and fucking landowners cockblocking me to pass progressive laws. I banned slavery in 1875 that's how powerful they were. I decreed social mobility in my 2 states and I built many universities but they gave a very small bonus to innovation. So yeah it's pretty cool!

The funny thing about that extermination order is that, aside from resentment already existing due to our anti-slavery stance, it came as a response to a threat on gov. Boggs' life. A guy's gun was found outside the gov's window after a shot had come through it and missed. They found that guy, and he says: (been a while so paraphrasing more or less)~ 'that Mormon, Porter Rockwell was in my shop earlier today; he musta stole my gun and did this!' And they went for it. The funniest thing about that is: If it had been Porter, you best believe Boggs would actually dead; Cus Porter wouldn't MISS. 😂

As a Jamaican I'd love to see if it's possible to do anything substantial as the West Indies. Idk if it's in the game but basically the West Indies Federation was a short lived Federation of British island colonies and Belize and Guyana that was set to be granted independence as one nation (and hence we play cricket together) in the 1950s but it never happened because Jamaica pulled out of the union, and got their own independence in 1962. I imagine it probably wouldn't be a very popular playthrough but if it's possible I'd love to see it, hopefully others would too.

South Park is what got me asking questions about what Mormonism even is only to discover some relevations. I knew Nauvoo was some town in Illinois north of where I live but I had no idea it was founded by Joseph Smith. They came to our school when I was in elementary like around 2009 or something and none of us had any idea who the hell these people were but they showed us some cool old timey stuff and got us out of class so that's all we cared about. Then I found out that I've actually been to the place several times where Smith was killed at in Carthage, Illinois. Had no fuckin idea Mormonism had history here. Mormons are the kings of garage sales around here. There's a Mormon town that essentially turns into a marketplace wherein there's only one road that loops around the entire town and you just drive down it, get out, buy shit, get back in the car and go a little ways further and repeat until you're back to the start. On another note we have a ton of Amish as well. I'm talking full on horse carriage taking up the entire road and refusing to move for you kind of Amish. They came back when Amish were essentially open season in Missouri. An Amish playthrough of Viky 3 would be pretty interesting if possible.

I grew up watching my dad playing Age Of Empires II (the 90s edition with polygons you could cut bread on) and playing some myself, and I think that sparked my love for this sort of top-down world management game. I recently got the AoE II remastered version and it’s so addictive. This channel really fuels this fixation so thanks for taking up a significant chunk of my time I guess lol

@@TurtleShroom3 heh as an LDS person, while it's simple for me at this point in my life I imagine that they would have to do tons of research on our history, talk to lots of us, and even then it would probably still be very difficult to implement. Unless they were able to observe the pros and cons our historical religion-influenced choices produced overtime and add modifiers to replicate that after a fashion. I mean Brigham Young basically made sure that roads in Salt Lake City, and most settlements, were wide enough 'for a 40 mule team to turn around', (also grid city plan system ftw), and I think even made sure a shaft was left in the Salt Lake temple ahead of time largely for the later advents of Semi-Trucks and modern elevators respectively.
