Revisiting Fingerboarding: An '80s Skater Tries Pro Fingerboards with Teak Tuning

As a skater who grew up riding in the '80s, fingerboards were little more than intriguing novelties. Fast forward a few decades, and here I am, diving headfirst into the modern world of pro fingerboarding, thanks to Teak Tuning.
In this video, I'll take you on a journey from the simplistic plastic boards of my youth to the intricate and highly functional setups of today. We'll explore the history of fingerboarding, from its DIY origins post-Powell Peralta's "Future Primitive" to the explosion of Tech Decks in the late '90s, and right into the current era of fingerboarding as a respected sport and hobby.

As a 48yr old skater and arcade game collector/restorer. I don't understand the appeal, but to each there own 😊. Iike you said I have a bunch of finger boarding accounts that follow me and come in my feed on tiktok and I have started to see set ups for them at my local indoor skateparks, but other than having a few like you had in the 80s and seeing it in animal chin it never took hold with me.

Looks like a good time. I just scored a Tech Deck Danny Way VS Nyjah Huston VS Series from Wally Mart for $10...originally $70. Might have to open it up and give it a try🤙🏼

I still got my teck deck batman beyond cartoon board right next to me in my glass case ironically. In 88-89 i had a few of those clear plastic ones with art underneath.
