When you cant turn the tip, go to the machine turn down the pressure all the way, then turn the switch to prime to relieve the pressure in the hose. This will allow you to turn the tip to unclog it, then turn up the pressure and back to business

You can get them cheap on eBay $169 factory refurbished with 1 year factory warranty. That's what I did haven't had any problem look for my comment on keeping it clean you won't either.

We just bought our “retirement “ townhouse and we’re doing a total remodel. Previous owner had a cat; doesn’t smell horrible, but I’m going to use an odor blocker on ceiling, walls and floor. Then I’ll go through and paint over the blocker, probably 2 coats. I ended up buying the next model up. I just used mine today for the first time and there is a leak by the spray arm that went all over. I have paint in places there shouldn't be. I got the deck painted much quicker but I have to find a way to stop the leak spraying from the side.

I am wondering if i can use it for relatively big projects?

I use a titan 440 at work.. We clean throughly after each use and still have clogging and the same issues you have stated with with sprayer.

get a couple extensions first a 12in and second a 30in or so Youll love life after that lol (less ladder climbing and bending over) and as a wood worker building cabinets and farm house tables/blanket ladders ect i also bought a low pressure fine tip I think its a 310 and it lays the paint down so nice and smooth (paint is thinned a little). Would you be interested into buying a package of low pressure tips ?

If you want to keep a paint sprayer working for years mix up a QT of 1/2 paint thinner, and half motor oil I only use non synthetic any weight I use cheapest oil I can find. Flush out the paint sprayer pump, hose, and gun really well with water remove the hose from the pump. Then suck up that mixture of paint thinner, and motor oil into the pump until it comes out the priming tube run some though the pump comes out where you attach the hose by toggling the primer switch shut it off. The hose and spray gun remove it remove the gun from the hose and disassemble the gun remove the screen, and tip soak it all in lacquer thinner. Pour lacquer thinner into the gun makes sure it flows out where the tip attaches. Buy some paint QT size mixing cups you can get a box of 100 with lids from amazon for $36 made by TCP global mostly used for autobody painting I use them for everything. Lacquer thinner will evaporate quickly the lid stops that. I learned this from a Graco service center tech when I first got my Graco I would flush it with water and put it away hose attached the gun still on there. Six months later when I pulled it out it would not prime. I had taken to him 2 times to clean out when 3rd time he told me about all this that was 25 years ago. Never had a problem again when you go to use the sprayer just flush it all out with water the paint thinner and motor oil flushes right out easily. You can run straight paint thinner though it to flush it first then water. Your only using this for the pump the hose should only need water. Never compress flammable solvent in the sprayer always run it without the spray gun nozzle installed if you need to run some solvent though the machine. Airless paint sprayers are great for big jobs it's a big job clean them up also get a plastic bag goes over the hose keep it from getting paint on it.

I own three Graco Project painter sprayers for my work . They’re my favorite, so lite, and you can paint a whole house, banisters, cabinets, with the right tip. Like Fine finish tip 310. And to avoid possible clogging, use the five gallon strainer cloth. Also you can mix a small cup of water. In a five gallon paint bucket.

Is this sprayer any good for painting furniture and cabinets? I use only small quarts of Fusion Mineral paint to refinish furniture, and I see that you are using huge buckets. Yes you can. Keep the screen covered and don't try to use every bit or you may have to re-prime. Make sure that you have another gallon ready to go.

its a piece it over sprays so bad no way to change that

Leave it in a bucket of water in between sprays and a quick brushing. Dope sprayer for the money.

I have this painter and the issue about it not priming. I found that if you remove the inlet hose from underneath, just release the clip, you will see a white ball of some sort inside the hole. Push that thing in with a small stick like a barbecue stick and it will release it from getting stuck. Don't know the reason why it's getting stuck but I have to do that each time I use the machine eventhough I had cleaned it thoroughly before. But it works..

@@AustinMakesVids I've had this for 5 years now, another thing Ive noticed is that it uses a lot of paint eventhough I'm at around 2200 psi and I found out that the gun is a standard basic type that uses standard RAC tips because it has the basic orange RAC tip guard that sprays very rough and basic and wastes a ton of paint. If you change the tip guard like the blue one that accepts the yellow FFLV tip it will spray super fine and use very little paint and hardly no overspray. It's a good basic airless but the gun tip guard and tips can be upgraded for superior finish and less waste

@@Tee2Green70 You can use any of the Graco FFLP (Fine finish low pressure) tips, these are the green ones but you have to use the "blue" tip guard. You can't use these tips with the badic orange tip guard. These FFLP tips uses less paint and less pressure and very little overspray and the finish is very fine, great for like cabinets, doors and some painted furnitures. The tip is only supposed to be hand tightened, if you tightened it with a wrench that may be why you had trouble turning the tip around to the unclog position.

I think I only hand tighten it, I have had to get the wrench to loosen it before. Sometimes SOMETHING gets jammed and the only way to relieve the pressure is to loosen it with a wrench.

I have to paint my ceiling on my newly installed deck, do you suggest putting plastic on all the walls to avoid paint? Does it spread easily?

There is a bit of overspray no doubt. When I have done it, I purchased some paint tape that has this attached plastic on it. It’s like a strip of painters tape with about 4 feet of plastic that falls down, that was good enough to keep overspray off the walls. Good luck!

I would say no to that one. The advantage of this gun is throwing a lot of paint on walls, basically bulk painting. With that said, I have painted some cabinet doors with it, taking them off and painting outside and had success with it.

How does this compare in terms of time, using a 20" roller? I have been using a 20" roller and it goes by really fast especially if it's big walls.

Always strain your paint before using any sprayer!!

It is a good thing very fast in painting the only problem is to tape everything off that is a pain in the you-know-what🤣

Seeing the condition of your tools is a good indicator why you had so much trouble.

You’re probably right.

I hear the pump is cheap and you will need to replace the whole sprayer. Anything you buy at the box stores. Look at the Graco 390 lower model contractor series for something that will last. You can rebuild the pump and if you want to sell it, you will get your money back. Any Graco 'X' series, be careful.

That's a great tip for a pro if you can justify spending early 4x the price. For someone like myself as a homeowner/diy project person or even a handyman that does paint jobs but not everyday, I think these x units are great. There are ways to replace the pumps in these units although not as simple as the pro units. They are also only a little over $100 so you could replace the pump in one of these almost 6 times before you'd hit the cost of the pro models. And remember, the pro models do wear out too they just last longer and are designed to have replaceable components. They are easy to keep in service but parts still cost money.

I mean, its 200 bucks man. Even if it only lasts a year of fairly regular work its well worth it. I don't know what you make an hour, but for me (handyman) ill just buy another one when it dies. Not even worth the time to try and replace stuff. Like 2 hours of work buys me another one.

True but Cut in time is probably longer than masking time, then you still have to roll it. Most of the time spraying is faster. Especially if you buy a hand masker that lays tape and paper/plastic simultaneously.
