Picopresso. There is no comparison. Pico makes true, barista-quality espresso. The others all make tasty brews, but only Pico makes real espresso with correct body and crema. It's an amazing little device that creates a better shot than many $1000 machines.

@@kingalthe1st160 what happens if you used a regular medium/find grind coffee (not espresso) on the picopresso... will you get a decent brew of coffee or its not recommended to do so?

@@artlyc that is a good question. I have not tried anything other than espresso, but my guess is that, while you'd get something drinkable, it probably wouldn't be great. It's definitely designed for a singular purpose, and does it extremely well.

@@gombia very durable! The plastic is more dense and rubberized. It also uses metal parts, a robust pump, and thick silicone seals. It's wonderfully designed and executed. With reasonable care, it should last years and years.

This is a GREAT review. I purchased one for my husband- he adores coffee and is highly critical....it was one of the best gifts I had bought him- pours an excellent coffee...and he can take on his drives to the mountains. Thanks for the excellent video.

Wacaco Nanopresso user since April 2019 here! I'm also a flight attendant and rely on this device to save me time and money while also allowing me to choose my espresso on the road. I used the Nanopresso for about 18 months before switching to the NS adapter and using capsules, which greatly improved the cleanup and streamlined my brewing while traveling. I've used the Nanopresso at national parks, on aircraft, at airports, in hotels, at Airbnb's, among other places. I also use an immersion coil to boil my water in a collapsible silicone cup, as I have access to electrical outlets most of the time. I make Americanos, add sugar free syrup and/or agave syrup, a couple of half & halfs and the rest of the hot water I've boiled. I've saved hundreds of dollars over overpriced (and underflavored) airport 'coffee', and I have full choice of which espresso I want to use! Thanks for your recent Minipresso NS2 review. I'm considering switching to it, as it'll save me a little space. I'll ask a question about that device on the comments for that video, but I'm glad I discovered your channel today!

The only reason I justify to buy a espresso machine is this literally. can you tell me what grinder do you use, as most of the grinders I watch videos off do just an ok job at best. Can you share your choice ?

@@BrodieVissers I ended up watching your video about Orea and the Orea lean startup model and found that helpful too. The part about doing some form of low volume production or having as many people as possible test prototypes is such good advice! As a product designer I've learned that you ALWAYS learn something from user testing. I can think I know my design inside out, but just handing it to someone and having them use it without directing what they do will always show up ways you can improve the user experience.

New Picopressor owner here. Took it camping and so far pretty happy (once I finally dialed in grind size)

I owned a Nanopresso and now own a Picopresso, Pipamoka and Cuppamoka. My favourite Brewer is the Pipamoka because it's easy to use also with preground coffee. I also like the Picopresso very much, but at home I use my Aram. Sometimes I also use a Cafflano Kompresso, because it is the only brewer that doesn't need a preheat.

Great to hear that you're getting good use out of the Pipamoka too! It's true, it's easier on coffee that's pre-ground if that's the case

I got my Picopresso for use in the university office kitchen earlier this year and it's since accompanied me on two trips, one bringing it through three countries. Paired with my 1zpresso JX Pro, it's an outstanding brewer. The main issue is getting it clean and dry quickly when I'm in the shared kitchenette (but in the case where I was staying at a place long term with it, I'd leave it disassembled to dry which made it painless) I use the exagram which is lovely albeit far too loud on the beeps (hoping for a much quieter v2 in the future)

Hello! Excellent video. What brand is your coffee mill?

I use nanopress GR. It’s basically Starbucks in my kitchen. I do a super fine Starbucks espresso roast. I honestly can’t tell the taste difference. Mine might be a little stronger. Killer little machine.

With the barrister kit they recommend taking out the silicone bit out of the spring in the nozzle. You did not mention that. I was wondering what you thought about that

I just picked up the nano because I’m fairly new to espresso. The Picopresso seemed like it would be a bit more in terms of dialing in and such. Hopefully, I made the right choice!

My favourite wacaco must be the nanopresso + barista kit, without the pressurised valve rubber. Super versatile little brewer, from nespresso pods, pressurised valve for coarser grinds to espresso! I 3D printed a dosing funnel for the double shot basket too

I have a pipamoka, and it does not leak!

I've had a Picopresso for about a year now and absolutely love the espresso it makes. It's not the most consistent machine ever but if I nail my puck prep, I'm able to get delicious coffee out of it. That being said, I am a bit concerned about longevity, particularly at the price. My pump just randomly stopped working after I hadn't used it in a couple of weeks. It was replaced under warranty which was great and very easy but still didn't do a lot to allay my longevity concern.

Hmmm, well I can say I’ve been using mine for 2 years and still works well, it was the prerelease model too, sometimes these things happen, but I’m glad you got it fixed

I have my picopresso for two years, but have recently had the pump replaced for the second time. First time it started leaking really nad, the second time it stopped working. I really love the quality of the coffee it makes and i use it regularly (approx 2 cups a day). But i do share the longevity concern.

I upgraded to the picopresso from nescafe and found it quite lovely.

Hey! Have a question regarding picopresso. Is there any wacaco or side company adapter for Nespresso capsules? I really personally more into picopresso instead nanopresso (not that portable and outdated), so nanopresso is not an option and would love to use picopresso with capsules🙈

I have the NS model for pods. Can I buy an attachment to convert Pod model to GR? Cheers

Can the pipamoka hold the hot water in so I don't need to boil it before brewing or carry it in a separate thermos?

I started with the minipresso and I used it for years! The head of GR has pressure valve, which means very consistent brewing. Then I skipped nanopresso and bought pipamoka. Pipamoka is completely different animal, jump from espresso to "filter-like" coffee is huge. Even my favorite baristas were amazed, how the pipamoka extracted new flavours from their coffee. Also pretty consistent, the only downside is its lid. I bought also the cuppamoka, that is "normal pour over filter" like V60. Cuppa comes with that awesome cup cap, but the coffee is the same as you brew at home, so 🤷 meh. My last wacaco thingie was picopresso. Pros: small but powerful, you can play with the coffee a lot, cons: somehow messy to prepare more than one coffee. The most awesome coffee? Pipamoka. The best in space saving? Picopresso The best workhorse for the office without coffeemachine? Minipresso or nanopresso. Enjoy your coffee!

@@fabiosantoro8870 depends on if you like to have "proper espresso" or just good coffee and less hassle. Nanopresso means more proper espresso

can you use the filter cap on a octoroma cup? since the cuppamoka and octoroma look so similar

I am a nanopresso user and considering to get the picopresso due to great claims it produce "true espresso". The nano is still `'the on the go coffee making king`' for me as it has lot of accessories like DG Gusto adapter, NS capsules and the Barista Kit. Great comparisons. Enjoyed every second of it.

I upgraded this week and don’t know how I lasted so long. If the NS kit didn’t burst capsules all the time, I probably would have been more satisfied with the Nanopresso. I used it exclusively with ground coffee which is beat by the Picopresso in every aspect.

@@BrodieVissers In about 50% of cases, the foil on the top of the NS capsule exploded, leaving coffee grinds in the bottom of the cup. I eventually used a pin to prick tiny holes in the foil before using the capsules which helped most cases. There's a lot of commentary online about this, but since I had a gap in travel I didn't really care to use it so much anyways and stuck to the barista kit.

Alright, so make sure you start with fresh coffee, and also grind it right before you brew (no preground). After that, play with the grind size to make sure it's not too fine or two coarse, but the main concern is probably freshness!

Does the Picopress. has NS adapter as Nanopress.?

you do not compress the ground coffee much on the nanopresso/minipresso ?

Nice review, bit you tamp waaay to light on the espresso - the water shall struggle to get through, and move through fairly slow. Love my Wacaco’s - It has changed the way I enjoy coffee outdoors!

19:37 is there a defect in your purchase? My Pipamoka lid fits perfectly and doesn't leak at all.

I love my mini NS2 the only downside is it hard to take off the bottom part after making the espresso shot

Very helpful tips & reviews but I'm just not that bothered with the scales, grind yes which took a bit of trail. I have a nano with the barrister kit & use larger basket but still use smaller tank. I love the quality coffee I get from it & use it every day at work. Last night I purchased a pico model so looking forward to comparing it when it arrives. 👍

Hey there, sorry I haven't used the 1zPresso, but Pipamoka is more forgiving, just make it a bit finer than a pour-over grind and you should be fine.

I am curious about those presses if they leak after use. I see no o-rings at some points? If i just a a coffee, in the video you quickly turn the nanopresso around (3 mins into vid). Does it keep pressing out coffee? Even just drops? Too bad you showed everything but this.

I turned the Nanopresso upside down to put it down after the brew is done, that’s how it stands up on the surface. I didn’t think there was much to show there. Without pressure it won’t press through

I need some help, I ordered the picopresso, got it about a week ago. I dropped it within the first 3 days and it landed on its lid and the lid crack along the threads. I glued it back together and that seems to work but is there anyway of ording a new one?

You can use any, if you want to make multiple just do a quick wipe for coffee grounds, and then back it up when you’re done and wash at home, just make sure you don’t let it sit too long or the coffee will mould

I'm interested in the Pico, but the lack of a cup is off-putting as I want to use it for camping/traveling. Are there any plans to offer a cup for the Pico? Otherwise, can you buy the Nano's cup separately or do you have a recommended travel cup for the Pico? Thanks.

I understand what you mean, but I do like the aspect that it's more compact without the cup. I would say just pick up a small mug to travel with, and honestly the Octaroma comes in a 180ml size with tight-fitting lid, so that could be a good choice for the Pico!

To drink espresso, I don't mind to bring a great cup even camping/traveling. The taste, smell and feeling get upgraded.

The cupamoka only brews "15grams"?? Brodie, as an ambassador for Wacaco - you may want to check that info. It brews more than that, and you can dial it in for much more than that as well. I realize it's an older *(1yr) video, but yeah....

I’ll be honest, it’s better with espresso. I hope they can make some options to adapt better for filter soon, but yes it still can work

I am also a big fan of Wacaco. I got Nanopresso, Barista kit, Pipamoka, Picopresso, Exagram and finally Exagrind. Before I used 1Zpresso's Q2 grinder. It's light weight but the espresso is not satisfied brewed by Picopresso. I also have M47 and of course it is the best espresso grinder except outdoor usage even I love espresso very much. I ask myself is it enough to have Q2 and M47 only. Finally I get Exagrind today. It is not expensive but the output is in top grade, good match with Picopresso and other Wacaco products. The design is good to make it compact to bring anywhere. It is really a good news to Wacaco users.

I am disappointed by nanopresso, its a not breving coffe, i found fine pieces of powder coffee in the cup which is deficult to ingest. Its look like powder coffe dissolved in water.

Full disclosure: I like an espresso so now I’m supposed to be an upper-middle class lush stereotype with ‘appropriate’ kids? What the OP didn’t consider is that my wife and I are old, working class, childless (ovarian cancer), both crippled with various ailments and struggling financially, mentally and physically while still doing our best to support both dying and disabled parents (cancer, diabetes, arthritis). We sold a piece of inherited furniture to afford this £50 espresso-maker to help us enjoy our walking trips and occasional days out. (We can’t afford ‘holidays’ so walk or drive from home instead). If we didn’t have the coffee maker it would cost £6 a go for two bad/shitty coffees from dispensers at service stations. We couldn’t afford that without ditching the broadband budget (which would buy us four service station coffees a month). I guess the OP would say that our being old and struggling but drinking coffee is ‘everything wrong with society today’! Great! Suggest me some better options I say. What do you say, ‘Jason’? Why is what we do worse than the worst murderers, r*pists, abusers, liars and thieves and internet-twatz in society today?
