    Main problem with this camera is that it doesn't save JPEGS... when you hit stop... it creates an AVI file... ALSO to update the firmware which you will all have to do when you get it... you need a windows machine to download it to an sd card... very Mac unfriendly... I also like to edit/grade my images before assembling them... I wanted a simple 1 shot per hour over a 6 month period... but have to settle for a series of avi videos... company was super helpful though... I have this project in Hawaii and needed two cameras over night... 2nd day air was close enough... the president himself took care of it and they shipped out the next morning... Mahalo mate...

    Nice video, have you still got the camera? If you're recording a timelapse, and accidentally hit the power button instead of the stop record button, does it still save the video? I'm curious to know if you could test this for me please...thank you in advance. Keep crushing it!

    What capture settings would you suggest for catching planes and clouds? I'm think every 2 or 3 seconds. Going to record for 8 hours at a time. Most of the day.

    Question about long-term recording. I want to mount this on the banister of my cruise to record the entire ten days of travel through Alaska. Would this be a suitable device? And what setting would be best? Why don’t they have an automatic mode that can detect day from night modes?

    Does this have a housing if it rains? i want to use it for several months over a job site where it takes one picture an hour when they work during day. Also how long do the batteries last?

  • @Luka_menorykee

    On a 1-minute interval you should be able to get a few weeks, especially if you go for the TLC2020 model (the sam but with 4 batteries). There is a housing and a wall mount that you can buy for this camera, costs quite a bit though.

    So it doesn't do 4K? are there any time Laps dedicated cameras that do 4K?

  • @JohnHollands

    none do 4k yet. but many record stills in excess of 4k. I have one records 4896x3672 stills (16:9 would be 4896x2754). Sensor quality is the main limiter.

    I'm curious about this, too. I want to get a time lapse camera for a construction company, and need to have them set it up and leave it running for one week of 8 hour (daytime) shifts. Can it be powered via USB power bank?

  • @JohnHollands

    @JohnHollands

    @@davidp158 no need. the batteries last a very long time, especially at longer intervals and 8 hrs/day. There is - I think - an extension battery pack but also solar.

    There is a cable port, but it exposes the camera to the elements and it can't be done inside of the weatherproof housing. However, if you buy the TLC 2020 instead of TLC 2000, the battery housing can hold 4 batteries and that should be more than sufficient for a month of filming on 1-minute interval. At least using the strongest batteries on the market (Energizer Ultimate Lithium) If it won't be outside and exposed then the cable is a good option.

    Great review. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and have been playing with it a bit. I've been trying to record a sunrise from my bedroom (16th floor) which overlooks a hill but every-time the video is really blurry! I've been trying to record it at 30 seconds interval for about 5-6 hours. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I checked all settings but cannot figure out how to change the focus.

  • @Luka_menorykee

    Terrible review, you just went through the stuff that you use it for, and not through all the options, so now I have no idea what the camera can actually do, just a certain portion of it, which basically covers the GoPro features. But I still wasted 15 minutes for nothing, just finding out what I already knew, that it can do the simplest stuff and the battery can last a few hours. What about a day? A week? What are the timelapse features, can it just go up to 5 seconds or can it actually do useful timelapse, not just playing around. ? Can I leave it to record a construction site for my house and expect to cover 12 hours on that 5 sec timelapse? Can it do 10 or 30 or 60 second timelapse? Will the battery hold for a week or more then? Does it have alignment to the previous angle of recording like some other timelapse cameras have, when filming a multi-battery-change timelapse? I came with so many questions and still left with all of them unanswered but wasted 15 minutes. Thanks for nothing, continue playing around undisturbed... It started off good and I was probably expecting too much...

    @@NPrez-cv4jn of course I did, and I already bought another camera, Brinno Empower TLC2020. It has a battery life of up to 3 months, pics can be set up all the way from 1 second interval to 1 minute and there's also a custom time interval that can be set. It doesn't re-align the picture, but that doesn't matter in the end. These are specialised construction cameras, meant to be bought and installed for the very long timelapse, unlike GoPro and other short-period timelapse cameras. If you review them, you should at least go through their intended use features, at least mention them. Similar to the reviewer, your comment didn't help anyone, where mine was at least meant to open the guy's eyes and maybe not be so narrow minded in other reviews. How can he know that he is being stupid if nobody tells him so? He'll never be able to correct himself if he never receives the criticism. Now he at least has a chance and can make future reviews which are not as narrow minded as this one
