Being a parent is hard, and being a NEW parent is the hardest. If you or someone you know is on this beautiful journey, congratulations! And if you're wondering what to get for your pregnant friend, this baby monitor is the one!
I am a father of 2 and I understand how stressful it is to be a parent. The biggest relief you're going to get from a device like this is that you get to hear your child remotely, whenever it calls for your attention.
The SCD845 has a 3.5" screen with Night Vision monitoring that is perfect for your child to sleep in pitch dark conditions. It does have a 2x zoom function which I personally don't use but it has enough details to see your child's blinking eyes.
If privacy is your concern, this child surveillance device neither connects to the internet nor records the footage to any external media. Furthermore, the base unit and the camera unit connects via a secure FHSS adaptive technology which simply means the radio transmission hops frequently to avoid interception.
There are also 4 modes to choose from, Video for constant live feed, Audio for voice feed, Vox mode will activate video feed when detecting your baby's cries and the last is Eco mode that's basically Vox's energy saving mode.
One thing to note is that while it has a night light which is sort of an orange glow, you can't turn on or off remotely which I find that unfortunate.
You may also be glad to know that this one do monitor temperature of your child's room and you can set your preferred threshold within the base unit. It will also bring it to your attention when it surpassed your preferred level.
Whether you decide to buy it for someone who's expecting or marking it down on your own baby registry checklist, the SCD 845 from Philips is certainly one of the most useful tech gifts you can give to the people you love and care about.
I hope my video helped in making your purchasing decision.
Thank you for watching! :)

Hello! I'm sorry to hear that you're having some issues with your camera. There are a couple of possibilities.. 1. Since the camera does not turn off by itself, if you happen to leave it on 24/7 and have a dark room during the day(with shutters/curtains drawn), that could have worn the Infrared red light out. In this case I highly recommend contacting Philips support for warranty claims while you're still under warranty. For whoever is reading, I recommend turning off both the camera and the base unit to prolong the life of the camera and the base unit's LCD screen. 2. Your room isn't dark enough or the IR light sensor could be dirty. 3. The unit has malfunctioned, maybe some components is broken or something. Hope it helps.

Hello there, thank you for reaching out! The base unit is paired on its own local connection. It is not a wifi or Internet connected device. Hope it helps.
