Trevor Strnad will be forever missed. He was such a humble frontman, not to mention a very talented vocalist. Here would be my rating of each Black Dahlia Murder album. Unhallowed: 3.5/5 Miasma: 4.5/5 Nocturnal: 5/5 Deflorate: 4/5 Ritual: 5/5 Everblack: 4/5 Abysmal: 4/5 Nightbringers: 4.5/5 Verminous: 4.5/5

Trevor’s death hit me in a way I hadn’t felt for a very long time. It tool me three full days to realize I was in fact having a minor breakdown because of it. Ritual was my introduction to death metal, and it’ll forever be one of my personal favorite albums. I hope Trevor is at peace now.

Trevor's death hit home really hard. I've only been in that mental state like twice in my life but once is all you need to understand what those people are feeling. He seemed like such a cool and happy individual. RIP Trevor

Deflorate is top tier for me. I think it must be Trevor's lyrics. That which erodes the most tender of things is haunting. There are others but it's right there under ritual for me. You're one of the only metal youtubers who's actually enthusiastic about it. Nice.

Yea man. Im hoping i can rock out with it again. Im just so bummed. BDM is properly my fav metal band and certainly the most nostalgic. Unhallowed got me into extreme metal 20 years ago and i never looked back. That and the fact that he felt so down he took his own life just makes it all harder to listen to for me.

The only thing more shocking than his sudden death is that he chose to go by his own decision, that's the most eerie thing about it. A man that by all accounts was a happy, wholesome go-to guy gone in such a tragic, undeserving way. One can only wonder what type of issues he was struggling indoors. Mr. Strnad, although we never held any type of conversation (something that i deeply regret reading all of your comments), i will forever thank you for your music and all the memories that it carried. Whenever you are, i hope you rest easy and found inner peace. Anyways, my ranking: 9) Miasma 8) Abyss 7) Deflorate 6) Unhallowed 5) Verminous 4) Everblack 3) Nightbringers 2) Nocturnal 1) Ritual Wishing the best to Rob and the rest of you.

Honestly the first time I heard black dahlia before I really knew much about them, I kinda thought they had 2 vocalists, purely by how distinct both of his different vocal styles are from each other and how easily Trevor used to merge those vocal styles together, when I looked into it and saw it was just him I was so blown away by how talented a vocalist he is

Rip Trevor, mental health and suicide is a serious thing. Trevor was such a genuine guy and he truly loved and breathed Metal. The amount of support and love he had for underground bands. It’s devastating for sure. PLEASE go get some help if you have some Suicidal/Harmful thoughts everyone. you can do it, I believe in you, I care about you and it can get better. Ok now so The Black Dahlia Murder: S: Deflorate, Nightbringers A: Nocturnal, Everblack B: Miasma, Abysmal C: Verminous, Ritual D: Unhallowed

R.I.P Trev, such a massive source of inspiration over the years and definitely set a new standard for what to expect from lyrics in extreme metal. Stoked to see Abysmal get some love! It tends to get written off a lot by TBDM fans, but honestly it's the one I replay the most and is only a notch below albums like Nocturnal and Ritual for me.

I remember I was not really into them for a long time. I remember really enjoying Nocturnal and that was the main album that I listened to. I heard Miasma and Unhallowed back in the day but at the time it was not my thing. One day I wanted to listen to their discography and dug the everlasting shit out of it. I was like "why was I so critical about them?" then I remembered my taste in music is varied and makes no sense. He passed and I was like "holy crap that sucks and definitely lost an icon". Reading articles and videos about him definitely seems like he was the coolest guy to talk to. I felt like we could trade conversations over obscure metal bands for a long while. This band does not have a bad album which is rare for bands. I do wonder if they will continue with a new vocalist like Suicide Silence did or are they going to do a benefit like Suicide Silence after Mitch's death. My list (my opinion) Unhallowed: 3.5/5 - For being their first album and the prodution is weak, it still fucking slaps. Miasma: 3.5/5 - My issue is the production and material is weak compared to what we will eventually get. I know this is Trevor's least favorite album from their work. Pretty neat article on his album rankings of BDM. Nocturnal: 5/5 - Bar none their best album. Even when I was not big into them, I loved this one. Deflorate: 3.5/5 Ritual: 5/5 - To me, Nocturnal 2.0. It's tied with Nocturnal but I think Nocturnal hits better. Still it fucking slays. Everblack: 4/5 Abysmal: 4/5 Nightbringers: 4/5 Verminous: 3.75/5 - I felt like this album has alot of fat to be trimmed. Great album but they could have added more to beef it up. Awesome list! RIP Trevor.

It's still weird to think that Trevor is dead. I didnt really get into Dahlia until Nightbringers dropped (liked a couple songs, but never dove into a full album) and just with Widowmaker I got hooked. Always bouncing back and forth on what the better intro track is between Widowmaker and In Hell Is Where She Waits For Me. For me Everblack and Nightbringers are the records I gravitate to. I felt underwhelmed by Verminous, I felt like the singles had this feeling of tiredness or a lack of energy I had expected. But I should probably give it another listen. The one time I had a chance to see Dahlia i ended up leaving the show early because i wasnt feeling very well. Think it was the Miasma anniversary tour, they were playing with Disentomb.

Im gonna try to keep this as short as i can, because its a topic that im just not comfortable talking about. To be extremely serious for a moment, what happened to Trevor was truly tragic, Mental Health and Suicide isn't a joke for me, and its something that has deeply affected me throughout my life, especially because i had peoples close to me either trying or fully commiting to taking their life, and i did try to take my own life on more than one ocasion when i was a teenager too, and even as early as this year in January. But if there's one thing that always helped me, its music, because i had no one to count on, my only source of happiness for the longest time was music, be it any kind, Metal, Pop, Rap, Hip-Hop, Latin, Jazz, anything, and while i wasn't really familliar with The Black Dahlia Murder, Losing a person like Trevor to Suicide is just, sad, imagining the pain of what his bandmates, his family, friends, fans are going through now...there's simply no words to describe the pain and sadness they feel, and Robert, hearing you say its gonna get better and on your words "hang in there, you got this" is something everyone needs to hear every once in a while, even if its from a complete stranger on the internet, because at the end of the day, we as humans really should look out for each other. So thank you Robert, Thank you for your words. And for Trevor, Rest in Peace, hopefully you're much happier now, and rocking heaven's gate as we speak.

Maybe you’re too young but at the time unhallowed came out it was absolutely game changing. I’m not saying it was a perfect album, but you can’t really judge the album without taking in to consideration the relevance it had at the time.
