@@AnalCunt Butchered At Birth , and the Bleeding will always be the best. Bloodthirst was too short in duration. It was consistent, but the songs all sounded pretty similar. Dormant Bodies Bursting from Gore Obsessed is the best song with George. Gallery of Suicide, Devoured By Vermin, and Mummified In Barbed Wire were also great songs, but as albums Vile is messy , Gallery was too clean , the drums are too loud on Wretched Spawn, Kill and Skeletal Domain are the best sounding production wise , but still only have 2 or 3 decent songs. I don't prefer Barnes as a Vocalist, they both sound good, but the Barnes albums just had better albums. It's hard to listen to anything after the Bleeding without skipping tracks, mainly due to the loud over triggered drums, and the keyboard sounding guitars
I went on a giant Cannibal Corpse binge last year before Violence Unimagined came out. I feel like I like the Corpsegrinder era better than the Chris Barnes stuff (Eaten Back to Life and The Bleeding being the exceptions). They're just so consistent that you can't go wrong having them on shuffle.
Unleashing the Bloodthirsty remains my personal favorite song from them. That opening is always intense & fierce to listen to in my car at full max volume.

Gotta love the fact that Ace Ventura put a lot of people onto Cannibal Corpse
Also side note- Scott Burns knows how to mix bass in his style of producing so well holy crap. Just listening to Sepultura's Arise and CC's Butchered at Birth like he mixed the bass to where it wasnt trying to take sonic space of the guitarist or drummer. It isnt trying to cut through the mix. It's just so comfortably there. As a bass player and someone who dabbles me hand in audio production, he may as well be my idol
Ah, finally, fellow Red Before Black enjoyer, thank you for giving this incredibly overlooked and undeservingly criticized album the respect it deserves. Great list and great video!

Wholeheartedly agree. As far as I’m concerned, Cannibal Corpse debuted with Vile. The Bleeding is alright I guess, but everything before just doesn’t sit right with me. Chris Barnes’ vocals are so below the quality that the rest of the band has that it kinda ruins everything for me, and this is only further confirmed for me when you look up any live performance of songs from the first four albuns with Corpsegrinder on vocals, he has a MUCH better cookie monster vocal than Chris ever had. It kinda makes me want them to rerecord the first four albuns with Corpsegrinder, but this would upset the Barnes’ widows for sure.
I’ve never thought Cannibal Corpse have had a bad album. Some, like Torture and Gallery Of Suicide get a little less listens from me but I never regret when I do hear them. I’ve always loved Eaten Back To Life. I’m biased but it was the first death metal album I owned. So I had nowhere to go but up from there. Tomb Of The Mutilated, The Bleeding, Evisceration Plague and A Skeletal Domain are some of my top Cannibal Corpse albums. Kill most certainly ranks as my favorite. Seeing them live during that era was so fun.
I won't lie, I'm not the world's biggest fan of death metal, but I'm really digging the stuff I've heard from Cannibal Corpse. Violence Unimagined in particular made my top 10 albums of 2021 list and was my pick for the best straightforward death metal album of 2021. Scourge of Iron from Torture is my favorite Cannibal Corpse song (as of now) I just adore that song, especially when they play it live. I'm actually thinking about diving into their discography and maybe I'll rank their records. Who knows, maybe Cannibal Corpse might change my mind about death metal, we'll see. Edit as of 12/1/22: I have completed my Cannibal Corpse discography listen, and I have my ranking ready to go. Be prepared for some hot takes: #15: Eaten Back to Life (1990) #14: Vile (1996) #13: Gore Obsessed (2002) #12: Red Before Black (2017) #11: Butchered at Birth (1991) #10: Gallery of Suicide (1998) #9: Kill (2006) #8: Violence Unimagined (2021) #7: Tomb of the Mutilated (1992) #6: Bloodthirst (1999) #5: Evisceration Plague (2009) #4: Torture (2012) #3: The Bleeding (1994) #2: The Wretched Spawn (2004) #1: A Skeletal Domain (2014) It was a truly fantastic experience listening to this band. A Skeletal Domain really grabbed my attention and was the record I had the most fun listening to (hence why it's at the top of my rankings). Also, these guys NEVER released a bad or mediocre at best record, so even the ones at the bottom are good records, it's just preferential reasons. I have two videos on my channel where I rank Cannibal Corpse's albums in more detail.

Dude, I breathe metal music everyday. I can't deal with the world without it. I've been a metalhead for 14 years and it's been getting me through all of my dark times.. awesome Death pfp. I wish they were still around.. r.i.p. to one of the best Death Metal albums imo.
Today's subject falls in line perfectly for Thanksgiving: - consistent - scrumptious - a good time for the whole family
My top three favorites are: 1. Kill. 2. A Skeletal Domain 3. The Wretched Spawn. Of course I love the older cannibal corpse albums but these have always been my favorites, and I feel like they get overlooked or not talked about enough.
weirdly enough. The Bleeding was where the issues of Chris Barnes weird "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" takes on vocals started at. Makes sense he was kicked out a year later and he continued screaming the squeling of the 5th letter of the alphabet with SFU and his later career
Cannibal Corpse is easily one of the best bands I’ve seen live. So crisp and clear and heavy as hell. I also agree with the Skeletal Domain(the whole album) and Make Them Suffer takes. I wish they would have played Make Them Suffer live but Kill or Become is was just as great.
Bolt Thrower also comes to mind when you mention a band that can release the same album over and over again without becoming boring. Though they were only active half as long.

Great ranking/rating system here man. I did a ranking myself earlier this year and I almost kind of want to re-do it, there’s stuff on here I agree with it. Although Butchered was a hard listen production wise and other than great song writing the production I felt was horrible. Great job on this!

I don’t like the comparison to McDonald's…. McD’s is highly processed poison, devoid of any nutritional value full of salt/fat/sugar that normies wolf down. Cannibal Corpse is savage Death Metal created by highly skilled musicians that is so far removed from mainstream tastes that most McDonald’s munching normies would find it highly indigestible. The music equivalent of McD’s would obviously be some brainless processed trash like Doja Cat.
Nice! someone else who loves Skeletal Domain! Personally I think it's better than any other Corpsegrinder CC album, I might prefer Butchered at Birth though. And I also love Gore Obsessed, The Bleeding and Tomb of the Mutilated.

Cannibal is my favorite death metal band not only because they were my first, but because they are so consistently awesome. You could argue they get a little same-y, but they know what they're doing and they do a damn good job at it. My personal ranking is as follows: 1. Tomb of the Mutilated 2. Kill 3. Butchered at Birth 4. Vile 5. The Wretched Spawn 6. The Bleeding 7. Violence Unimagined 8. Evisceration Plague 9. Torture 10. Eaten Back to Life 11. Red Before Black 12. A Skeletal Domain 13. More of a admirer of Cannibal Corpse but holy fuck, i hopedeath metal fans APPRECIATE this band! The consistency and commitment to their sound and their fans with as niche as it is, you have to know it doesn't put that much money on the table. True legends.
The Bleeding belongs in a cabinet where you need to go see the clerk for the key. The Bleeding Is Death Metals bottle of red wine. Return to Flesh, to me is premium Cannibal Corpse.
Eaten 3/5 - good, but more thrashy than what I’m used to with CC Butchered 3.5/5 - would be a 4/5, bc there are tons of bangers, but the production is butt Tomb 4/5 - maybe a little overrated, but I still really enjoy most of it Bleeding 5/5 - my favorite CC album, tied with another. I love this thing. It’s like a more groovey hook filled death metal album Vile 3/5 - it’s good, but I think the corpsegrinder era gets much better Gallery 3.5/5 - love the doom style, but there are some songs I don’t really care for at all. Bloodthirst 4.5/5 - my 3rd fav of theirs. Brutal and heavy and awesome. So many bangers Gore Obsessed 3/5 - cc being cc, but a pretty decent version of that Wretched Spawn 4.5/5 - some of their fasted material! I love this thing. Awesome cover art as well Kill 4.5/5 - another just brutal and heavy album. So many bangers. Make Them Suffer might be my favorite cc song. Evisceration 3/5 - a lot of really cool songs, but also a decent amount of filler imo Torture 5/5 - this is my favorite after the bleeding. To me every song has something that makes it stand out. Scourge of Iron is possibly my favorite song of theirs Skeletal domain - 4/5 it’s great! Love all of the songs, I just don’t love it quite as much a torture Red before black 3/5 - good, but probably my least favorite, but because their are the least stand out tracks (there still are some tho) Violence unimagined 4.5/5 - such a good album. Way better than it had any right to be. Incredibly catchy and good Cc is one of my favorite bands. I’ve had a soft spot for them bc they were the band that got me into extreme music

CC, one of the most brutal, violent, controversial and awesome bands out there. I Can’t think of a band that defines the sound, the look and controversial imagery of 90s Death Metal more than CC. Corpsegrinder easily one of my top 5 death metal vocalists. Alex Webster is one of the best bassists in Metal. And they have some of the greatest album covers ever S: Kill, Butchered at Birth, Torture, A Skeletal Domain A: The Wretched Spawn, Bloodthirst, The Bleeding, Violence Unimagined B: Gallery of Suicide, Evisceration Plague C: Tomb of the Mutilated, Red Before Black, Eaten back to Life D: Vile, Gore Obsessed 'Cause I'm T.N.T. I'm dynamite T.N.T. and I'll win the fight T.N.T. I'm a power load T.N.T. watch me explEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDEEEEE
I've been waiting for this one, I have some pretty controversial opinions on this bands discog but they're one of my favorites so let's see what we agree and disagree on! Edit watching this video made me feel like giving my opinions on these records so here we go: Eaten back to life: I really like this one, a fast, thrash inspired death metal record that's really fun and brutal. It's not as memorable as the rest and is a bit dated but 3.5/5 Butchered at birth: A bit long and some songs drag a bit but damn this is a brutal, fantastic record. 4/5 Tomb of the mutilated: What a disgusting, horrifying and disturbing album still to this day, this thing goes so hard it's so heavy and brutal I love almost every second. Hell my only complain is that it goes a bit overboard at times (especially with Necropedophile, jesus christ that song is horrifying) 4.5/5 The bleeding: This is the one, this is easily my favorite cannibal corpse album, hell it's my favorite death metal album. They gave up a bit of the heaviness and it's a bit less disturbing but what they gave up in that they made up for in catchiness. These songs are so catchy, Stripped raped and strangled could never leave my head as a teenager, the lyrics are also extremely well written, it legit feels like you're listening to an actual serial killer growling these lyrics. 5/5, a metal masterpiece Vile: I really enjoy this one... Heavy, catchy, and brutal. 4/5 Gallery of suicide and Gore obsessed: Yeah I pretty much feel the same way about both of these so I'm putting them together, they're okay. I call the albums from 1998-2004 the "ugly years" cause I just cannot stand the art style of these album covers and the albums themselves aren't really that good either (except one which I'll get to). Yeah not much I can say, just 2.5/5 they're fine but not my faves Bloodthirst: This may be a part of the ugly years albums but don't let that fool you this is a solid album. It's heavy, brutal and fantastically enjoyable. 4/5 The wretched spawn: yeah no thank you. Not only does it have the worst album cover it's just so boring for me. I don't know why but I really struggled to finish this thing and I never wanna listen to it again... 1.5/5 Kill: Hell yeah, this thing is brutal, heavy and just all sorts of awesome. One of their best, 4/5 Evisceration plague: I really love the title track. That's about all I can remember lmao... I remember really liking it but I don't remember any other song so I guess 3.5/5 Torture: Same with this one. Some songs I like but I don't remember much: 3.5/5 A skeletal domain: Fuck yeah, I love this thing. From the weird distorted bass to the brutal sound this was just a joy to listen to. 4/5 Red before black: Good but not as memorable. 3.5/5 Violence unimagined: I spent a lot of time with this one last year, and for good reason caus this thing is heavy, catchy and all around amazing. So many amazing songs and all around it's probably my favorite modern Cannibal corpse record. 4.5/5 So yeah, I think some of these opinions are controversial but I hope everyone below can give me their opinions and we can have a conversation cause I love this band so much. Bloodthirst: What a beast! The Bleeding: So crisp and melodic, Barnes sounds brutal there. Butchered At Birth: NASTY in a good way. Kill: It just kills! Wretched Spawn: It was my first! I remember buying it and showed the back cover to my mom lol Tomb Of The Mutilated: STICKY and TASTY! Gallery Of Suicide: Classic but yeah, the mix is ass. Evisceration Plague: Sounds a lot like Kill but that's a great thing. Torture: More brutal than Evisceration, I think. Gore Obsessed: I didn't like its production but it has great songs. Vile: Slower but Barnes is a perfect replacement. Red Before Black: Good but not that memorable. A Skeletal Domain: Didn't move me idk why, maybe I should give it another try. Eaten Back To Life: Primitive as hell but it's fucking hellfire, I enjoy it more with some beers. All of them are good even my least favorite!
Thomas, I love your hair!
So glad I come across this video ahahah
My favorite Barnes performance are eaten back to life and the bleeding, both are more understandable, eaten back to life definitely has more power and feels genuinely enraged, the bleeding has a good low and more highs than butchered or tomb. Butchered and tomb both feel a bit monotonous in the vocal department, especially tomb cause the vocals are buried under the instruments in the mix and it gets old really fast, the vocal patterns that are all over the place.
I always felt the lack of high screams in Red before black was a reason for it to sound lacking
19:02 Correction, March 26th 2006, not October 21, 2009
Red Before Black is underrated af. Shedding My Human Skin is such a fuckin ripper of a track! CC is the most consistent band in dm.
Bloodthirst is #1 to me. Never a "bad" album.
Top 5: Kill, The Bleeding, Bloodthirst, Tomb of the Mutilated, Violence Unimagined Least favorite: The Wretched Spawn(I'd still rate it like 3.5/5)
My favorite Cannibal corpse album is bloothirst. Red before black is also really good 👍
Butchered is my fav. Is so raw and brutal
As much as Chris Barnes sounds 100 times better than he does in Six feet under I still think George does those early songs alot more Justice when done live. I guess Chris was pretty influential on a ton of copycat vocalists who loved sesame Street so much they wanted to sound like the cookie monster though
I totally agree with every single review.
I agree, 1999 album is insane brutal stuff.
I do like Cannibal Corpse I heard of some of their albums my favorite song is called Hammer smashed face skull full of maggots
For a band all about brutality and murder, Cannibal Corpse is just so much fun to listen to. I've never gotten bored listening to one of their albums, whether its the early barnes era or the current corpsegrinder era. Relistened to eaten back to life for the first time in years the other day and it was WAAAAY better than i remembered. Not as good as Tomb of the Mutilated or The Bleeding, but i might honestly enjoy it more than Butchered at Birth. Unpopular opinion, i know.

@@trentonmcintyre5617 Barnes highs here is basically what kills the album for me. And musically I also don't find it as fun as Tomb of the Mutilated (not even gonna compare it to Corpsegrinder's albums)

I'm with you on The bleeding because i sure didnt like it much.
Have listened to six albums of theirs, so far from all. But i will say,i think the modern albums often sound the same. They seem to lack the rabid, framtic sound of the earlier ones ino. Am the alone here? I love a number of tracks over the last year don't get me wrong, but there's a cleanness to it that i question.
To save everyone some time the bleeding is the best and they get worse from there
Good morning ❤
Ah… Back to the time where Chris Barnes wasn’t a joke.
To me the bleeding is the best CC album
idc what anybody says about it, Kill is perfect 🔥💯🔥💯
You woulda had a lot more fun doing this with Bloodbath albums lol. Some great performances and each album kinda has its own identity with the last 3 being a bit more related to each other
I need to listen to kill now lol. People are praising it so much
1. Mutilated 2. Butchered 3. Bleeding 4. Wretched 5. Kill
Came damn close to 30 minutes. CC not one of my favorite Death Metal bands. But ok. Do Obituary or Deicide.
I would have to say Gore Obsessed is my favourite Cannibal album, absolute masterpiece so brutal, so heavy and some really catchy riffs all over this record
I disagree with your luke-warm & dismissive review of "eaten". You talked about it as not being "sharp" & lacked in precision...I think the sheer rawness of it gives it an authenticity that we haven't heard in a long time from them. It's also (imo) one of thier scariest albums..lyrically/musically...it's sheer terror. It wasn't over-produced and/or triggered but it wasn't low budget either...the thrash element of it is sick too. Everyone's entitled to thier opinion & I get that but I felt you could've given that album a little more love but to each thier own.
