    Hughie not showing fear or desperate emotion is the whole point. He always thinks he's weak, especially you can see it in season 3. So he is trying his best to be brave and it was so good seeing someone who never blackmailed or manipulated someone actually succeeding at it (remember the part with Ezekiel or A-train), him standing up against Homelander when he was laughing at Starlight. Jack nailed this character so good. Amazing expressions, voice,, everything. Deserves an Amazing tier

You pointed out the scene of him breaking down and crying while talking to his gills and in that scene other than maybe someone reading the gills lines off screen it's just Chace performing to himself which is much harder than performing with someone to bounce off of.

    @@KoshoReacts watch Chase in an interview, for the Deep he changes posture, he is always mewing, they like to have him eat because he does weird swallowing things with his neck. I get that he isn't dramatic but his physical acting is with every part of his body. I also think that very few people can pull off being a charismatic antagonist, in classic film James Mason was the go to, if you want a 2024 Humbert Humbert Chace is your guy. He is out here practicing bestiality and people are like oh what a scamp.

    When good actors are acting they aren’t moving their eyebrows or quivering their lips on purpose. Acting isn’t thinking about it and actively deciding to do it, they are truly showing emotion. I do agree with a lot of these points on certain actors, but it also comes down to direction. When you said that butcher should have gotten in their faces a bit more in the supe victim meeting, it’s not like Karl is just deciding exactly how butcher is supposed to be. Sure, he’s the actor and he definitely puts his own spin on things, but the director gets the final say, and brings things like that up if it’s an issue.

  • @KoshoReacts

    @KoshoReacts

    18 күн бұрын

    I love ur comment I LIVE for this stuff, and yes I agree the director does have a lot of sway. I make suggestions more in the context of the SCENE and just in my opinion butcher would have had a more effective scene w more exaggeration (a pattern I tend to see that lacks), and yes acting for THEM isn’t about thinking but we can point to the elements that make their acting great etc…

    I guess what I mean with the first half is that they do probably have certain key acting techniques of what they want to do, but actors aren’t thinking as themselves during the scene. In the scene, Antony Starr isn’t Antony Star, he’s homelander, and so he isn’t thinking “oh let me activate that lip quiver real quick” because that breaks character

    okay dude a few tips since this clearly aint your thing... when hughie asked his dad to leave he CHOSE not to display fear as he wanted to keep the room as calm as possible. of course he was terrified, but he wanted his dad to remain calm and not do anything stupid. this is actually a pro for jack quaid and not at all a negative. secondly hughie aint the main character at all. there really isnt a definitive main character but both homelander and butcher take the center stage more than hughie. only season 1 could you say hughie might be the main character. also idk what your talking about with a-train being a comedic character. he's always been pretty serious, from being a main antagonist is season 1, to starting his redemption arc in season 3.

Not only does Maeve look like she got jumped, but she lost her powers, and that one less person on the 7 that’s against Homelander. To be honest I’ve always considered Hughie to be the main character of Season 1 as we are introduced to the world and story along with him but after that season I believe that Butcher takes over as the lead. Not just because of the promotional material for the show featuring him a lot but because it starts to centre more around him more since his aim to kill Homelander is still the major plot point of the show whereas Hughie’s vengeance arc for A-Train was somewhat resolved already. Also I agree with you about Elizabeth’s acting. It was perfect casting imo.

    I’m fine with Hughie taking to their dad in season one. The point is to show that they have grown, and that they aren’t afraid anymore. They’re become stronger since the beginning of the season and are more in control of their life.

    I feel as though a lot of these rankings are a lack of understanding as to how the characters are supposed to act. For example MM is reserved in front of Todd because his daughter is there & he doesn't want to scare her or risk not being able to see her. Hughie is reserved in some scenes because he's a character who still isn't as confident as those around him, but tries to act as if he is.

  • @Brandon-br7tc

    12:31 Isn’t that literally the point of the majority of Maeve’s arc though? “A supe scared to express themselves fully?” 12:43 I find the stiff hand thing kinda realistic too. Sometimes you’re just focused on verbally lashing out and you leave other parts of your body tense and still.

    You know, the main problem I see with your judgement is that it seems that you have more problems with the directing of the scenes than the acting, but still putting the "blame" on them? It doesn't seem fair to me. You still make some good points, but I feel like you're just being excessively critical for some of this actors

    Thank you 🤝🤝 GENUINLY I’m just v impressed by how Elisabeth does the fake smile in the scene I listed, EVEN after starlight left it was slithering. Kimiko also does great subtle acting but I’d just rank the difficulty Of what Elisabeth shows off as harder. Kimiko shows subtle natural smiles, but Elizabeth portrays a WHOLE FAKE FACE
