Thank you guys for watching and thank you guys for suggesting so many albums! Please let me know two things (if you want it's up to you, I can't make you do anything) Tell me your favorite album from the 70's and then as always, give me some of your 10/10 albums! There's going to be a theme for the next video as well but I don't know what it'll be yet so just tell me albums that you consider to be 10/10s :)

Some personal 10s for me: Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Every song is amazing, and I could listen to this album endlessly. This album is perfect for any mood in my opinion, and the instrumentation is larger than life and very intricate. Not to mention the incredibly sweet and beautiful lyrics throughout. Also, the flow of this album is untouchable. Snarky Puppy - Empire Central This is a stunningly written and performed fusion album, blending elements of mainly jazz and rock. The progression and instrumentation of these songs just blows my mind every time, and even the hour and a half runtime does not drag for a second. Each song has a couple instruments that are "featured" and they make up a bulk of the noise throughout that track. This album is very underrated and definitely worth your attention. Some other ones (that I didn't feel like writing a mini review for) black midi- Hellfire Radiohead - In Rainbows Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Fishmans - 98.12.28 (live album)

Here’s some of my picks for 10s: Songs of Faith and Devotion is such a wild synth pop album that goes beyond the constrains of genre. The lyrics are deep and passionate about religion, sex, and perfectly accompany music that weaves between noise rock, gospel, alternative rock, darkwave and trip hop. Incredible album Aethiopes by Billy Woods is phenomenal and washed in darkness. Everything about it is unlike any rap album I’ve heard. Such a unique, perfect album and the best rap album of the past 5 years for me. The Smile Sessions by The Beach Boys is such an insane pop album that it’s hard to believe it was made in 1967. But even then, it was too huge and grand in scope to get finished. So now it just remains as incomplete (but still perfect) sessions, but hearing this along with Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE helps to create an image of the Beach Boys’ original vision in 1967, and I believe if the album ever got finished it would be the greatest of all time. Sextant by Herbie Hancock feels like an exploration of what jazz can be. Although not my fav jazz album (maybe like top 3) I’d totally suggest this just for the insane experience it gives and how many doors it opens up to the thought of what jazz can accomplish. This album not only feels like it’s from the future, it feels like it’s from another PLANET. For my last pick, Skylarking by XTC is one of the most fun, heartwarming and heartWRENCHING pop albums ever. It’s an insane concept album that hits every note an album should for me. The production on this is immaculate and it can create such a landscape to where it feels like you’re being transported to another place entirely.

Exumas self titled record still blows my mind every time I listen to it. It's a fusion of psychedelic folk and the traditional music of Tony Mckay (who's playing a persona on this album named Exuma)'s home country of the Bahamas, and its lyrics as well as the persona of Exuma are very heavily inspired by the Obeah traditions of the Carribbean which helps set the tone of the album as being very mysterious and ritualistic. Every single song is amazing, and even my least favourite song on the album (Seance in the sixth fret) still hits incredibly hard. I almost never see it talked about when people talk about the best albums of all time, and its such a shame because of how unique and powerful it is

besides the supertramp album (which I still like a lot) these are all some of my favorite albums of all time, especially karma. one thing to note about red that I find interesting is that providence is a completely improvised piece from a live show they played prior to red's release (it's on the first disc of the great deceiver pt 1 live album if you're interested) and I think knowing that makes it even cooler. If I could recommend an album for the next video it would be telas by nicolas jaar, hard to place one specific genre on it but it's kind of ambient or glitch with some of the most emotional and organic instrumentation in any electronic album I've heard. truly one of a kind and special to me

For me two 10/10 albums would be Tom Wait's Rain Dogs and Public Enemy's It Takes a nation of millions to hold us back. Rain Dogs transports you into a sleazy world of vagabonds and rundown bars with its blend of bluesy experimental rock and swampy beat poetry while It takes of millions is one of the most groundbreaking hip hop albums of all time, it is so punchy and political and in your face, I cant imagine what it must have been like to have first heard it in 1988.

I'm super glad you listened to Karma, my favorite album of all time! I'd really recommend some of Ground Zero like "Consume Red" and "Plays Standards" both of which I'd consider 10s if you want some really interesting experimental stuff. "Consume Red" in particular hits really hard and kind of mesmerizes you with a very unique soundscape. "Plays Standards" is a bit less experimental but has some really fun sample chaos infused jazzy noise rock. Great video!

friendly production advice from a music nerd to another. I listen to your videos on speakers and the volume isn't normalized, the audio clips become much louder than your voiceover. You can apply whats called a limiter to your master audio track to fix this, reaper has a free VST called realimit, but whatever your making videos on likely has one under audio effects, maybe organized under compressors. This normalizes the volume levels, bringing up the quieter parts while 'limiting' the peaks from clipping. Thanks bud, keep up the great videos! also your dad seems pretty cool

    1. Electric Wizard- Funeralopolis (probably the best and most fuzzy and wall of sound texture awesomeness doom metal) 2. Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell( this album has Dio instead of Ozzy and i find it to be their best if not in the top 3) 3.King Crimson- Lizard ( this one aint heavy but improv jazzy, my fav by them but most wouldnt say so) 4. Mastodon- Blood Mountain (only the most catchy and jump out of my skin sludge/thrash metal around, if that scares you try listening to circle of sysquatch, will def change your mind!!) 5. Melvins- bullhead (fantastic sludge metal melvins best imo) 6. Sleep- Dopesmoker (the one song album that is a single doom metal riff, absolutely legendary and hypnotic, its tied with funeralopolis) 7. Om- Advaitic Songs (last one I promise. This one i would affectionately call Buddhist metal. From a member of the band Sleep post breakup. Hypnotic songs focusing on bass and oftentimes using diatored bass and guitar with two hypnotic percussionists ) EDIT: I was scrolling and saw you have only heard watermelon man from head hunters and if you are in that funky mood you HAVE TO CHECK PUT HERBIE HANCOCK'S HEAD HUNTERS ITS SOOOOOO GOOD

Just gonna repost my comment from the previous video Albums I would consider 10/10 3 - Tricot. Gotta be one of my favorite records to revisit; such a fun album with fun sounds. Math rock at its best. The Lonesome Crowded West - Modest Mouse. Their best record, along with Moon & Antarctica, Isaac Brock's lyricism is unmatched. Obligatory Car Seat Headrest dump of HTLT, Twinf Fantasy, and Teens of Denial I'd consider some Bowie albums 10/10s, mainly Heroes, Ziggy, and Blackstar, certified GOAT. Pink Floyd is another band/artist with multiple 10/10s, mainly The Wall, Wish you were here, and dark side of the Moon. 98.12.28 - Fishmans. This album and the accompanying video of the performance are transcendent; no other album has given me this experience MBDTF - Ye. He's off his rocker but he made Runaway Abbey Road and Sgt Peppers i'd both consider 10/10s Whats Going On - Marvin Gaye. Still an important album socially and Gaye has some of my favorite vocals ever on this album Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix Experience. 1983 and All Along the Watchtower alone bring this album to like an 8 In Rainbows, Moon Shaped Pool, and OK Computer are all easy 10s for me and somedays Amensiac and Kid A are as well. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins. This and Siamese Dream are so good that it pisses me off that Billy Corgan is making shit boring music nowadays. 10,000 Days - Tool. FOr most Lateralus is their favorite TOOL album but there is some energy with this album that no metal record can replicate, and Wings For Maries pt 1 and 2 are two of the saddest songs written. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea - NMH. So cliche but its great and the lyrics are so great, although I think people really underrate On Avery Island these days. TPAB - Kendrick Lamar Close to the Edge - Yes. I've listened to this album the least out of all of these albums but its just a perfectly made album front to back. I don't know if you're supposed to cry to this album but I cry when I listen to it. Discovery - Daft Punk. This might be because I remember watching the movie on youtube as a kid and it having a real profound effect on me but still a great album musically, Interstella 5555 elevates it to an 11/10 tho Twilight - Boa. Only album on this list that I regularly skip songs (mostly One Day and Welcome) but Jasmine Rodgers' voice is just too incredible to leave off this list. Long list but every single one of these albums is extremely important to me and to me that's what makes a 10/10 piece of art. Its not about always about the quality necessarily (although all of these are quality) its about how it affects my brain chemistry and emotions. Thanks for reading this long ass list. Also I assume a large majority of these albums you've already heard but I couldn't make a list of 10/10s without some of these. Any Floyd to me is peak 70s. 70s Bowie was the best era of Bowie too in my opinion. All great stuff. Any of the Berlin Trilogy from Bowie is God's gift to man I swear.

    1. Glenn Branca - The Ascension 2. Swans - Soundtracks For The Blind 3. Elder - Reflections Of A Floating World 4. Ornette Coleman - Free Jazz 5. Oranssi Pazuzu - Värähtelijä 6. Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want 7. Liturgy - H.A.Q.Q. 8. Peter Brötzman - The Complete Machine Gun Sessions 9. LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening 10. Sonny Rollins - A Night At The Village Vanguard (Live) 11. Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place 12. Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts 13. Swervedriver - Raise 14. Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972 15. Grimes - Visions 16. Swans - Filth 1. The Ascension is truly an experience. Very minimal & yet somehow very cinematic. Spectacular Commodity is my default measuring stick as far as how good a song can be. Lots of atonal music theory. Everyone should hear it before they die. 2. Currently my favorite Swans album (tied with Filth). It's 1st wave or Proto-Post-Rock. Lots of incredible sampling with a haunting ambient atmosphere. 3. Peak Metal in my opinion. This album feels like Michigan summers (in a heavy & hot kind of way) with great, existentially/philosophically centered lyrics. 4. The first minute of Free Jazz - Pts. 1 & 2 is iconic to me. I'm endlessly fascinated with the relationship between chaos & order & this album scratches that itch for me. Arguably created Free(form) Jazz. 5. Värähtelijä perfectly mixes Krautrock & Black Metal. 6. Feels like a spiral into insanity. Modern Noise Rock masterpiece. 7. Glitchy Black Metal that Haela Hunt-Hendrix calls "Trancendental Black Metal" because of its heavy philosophy & symbolism. Lots of cool intermissions inspired by Minimalist music. 8. Peak Avante-Garde Jazz. European octet performing music that sounds like a war zone, predominantly Machine Gun fire. 9. Incredible Dance Punk album. Grooves like mad. A few noise elements added for spice. 10. The hardest Hard Bop record I've ever heard. The live ambiance of the crowd is really immersive. 11. Very optimistic Post Rock album that feels like the sun breaking through the clouds. Reminds me of my girlfriend & the drama that led up to us dating. 12. Very similar to The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place, but more personal & immediate, like a rush of adrenaline. It feels like a major accomplishment after a long time of struggling. Really cool Psychedelic video-game-esqe feel with samples from the 1920s. 13. My favorite Shoegaze record of all time. Adam Franklin uses a really cool tuning on his guitar. Probably some of the most Rock-like Shoegaze. Maybe not heavier, but grittier than most other Shoegaze bands. Feels like summer car rides. 14. Easily my favorite ambient album. It has a very crisp foggy feel. Lots of multi-part songs. Great for rainy days. 15. Maybe the greatest Ambient Pop album ever made. Every single melody flows like a midnight wind. There's a nocturnal quality to the songs that's vaguely scifi/spiritual feeling. 16. The title says it all. The single most thick & aggressive No-Wave album of it's time, possibly of all time. Great for when you want to vent about work or society.
