I hate to be that person but the box water isn’t a gimmick. It’s in a box because it takes a significantly less amount of time to decompose than plastic. The box has become a standard for other countries to help reduce their plastic waste. Just saying it’s better than the standard plastic bottle.

Anna Galindo-Kent you don't have to hate to be that person. You are 100% correct. The carton has 75% compostable paper . I have not yet tried to compost the carton but will do it later. Here in the USA, at least in Texas recycling is mostly done by individuals having to collect and take the plastic bottles to recycling centers and as we are used to the convenience most people do not do it. . Even if the cartons are not recycled in the landfill there is much less plastic than putting plastic bottles into trash.

Vivian didn't mean that it's a gimmick in that it's a box, but she was referring to it being touted as being pure and that it's special water because it's in a box. It ends up being pure though, and that was surprising!

I’ve used the Zero water system for a couple years now. Today the tap water is 125 after filtering through the Zero water filter I got a reading of zero. HINT!!!! the filter are not cheap but worth it! Bed Bath and Beyond will have four packs of the filters on sale and then use the coupon with the purchase. Great saving!! WalMart sells the tanks, not found at Target....yet. I keep the tank on the counter and use a bottle in the fridge to have cold water. Filter water is REALLY GOOD for dogs and cats!!!! They tend to have urinary issues.

Yeah, read it again after two days. They're using an ion trick. It filters *nothing.*

I think the reason why the first time it didn’t work was because the blue tester was dipped into your sink water and it might’ve had some residue. I have zero water and i love it 100% . My mother has well water which stinks like rotten eggs and I can drink zero water after she filters it. It’s also great for coffee machines because you’ll have low mineral and calcium residue in your coffee maker.

Vivian I'm so glad you did the review on the hair curler that sucks your hair into it. I have a 14 year old daughter, and I bought her one for Christmas. I can not wait for her to see it. I would never have bought it if I hadn't seen you do your review on it. I would never have believed it would work. Those people need to give you a commision for selling them, I'm sure I'm not the only one that bought one after watching your show. I made sure to buy the same one you tested, I wrote the name down and gave it to my sister in law to purchase because I don't have a credit card, and not one store in my area sold it! Vivian, is that a TDS meter? I ask because I spent much of my career dealing with water quality and I definitely know what those TDS numbers mean and can assure you a higher number isn't necessarily a bad thing. TDS is short for total dissolved solids. Those solids could be dirt but they are more likely salts and minerals. Honestly though, you have no idea what those solids in your tap water are and a TDS meter will never be able to tell you anything meaningful to your health. What you need is an in depth water quality analysis done by a top lab. Anything short of that is nothing more than smoke and mirrors being used to sell you "magic". Sometimes it is just safer to place your trust in experts. After all, how often do you hear of people falling ill or dropping dead by the dozen due to bad municipal water? If you want to taste water with a TDS of zero go buy a bottle of distilled water and chug it. LoL

My bet is your house water didn't do as well the first time because the filter wasn't rinsed. It sounds like it was rinsed after all the other ones. Hence better results in your second try with house water.

I have had a Zero water pitcher for about three years and then last year I got a Berkey water filter for Xmas and I like the taste of the Berkey filtered water over the Zero filtered water. So, now I pour the Zero filtered water into the Berkey filter and my drinking water is just terrific!

I really love my zero water. It’s been great! The filters last a while for me. The water in OKC has a lot of iron and it totally gets rid of all of it

You can get your water quality reports from your municipality. Your tap water will have chlorine and other additives like phosphates and fluoride are added. Your water quality is probably fine, it’s just that the bottled water does not have the chlorine and other additives.

We stopped buying bottled water because Zero water tastes so much better. Visitors have frequently commented how refreshing my water tastes.

That meter only measures the amount of particles suspended in the water, they could be bad like bacteria but there are also the good ones like minerals and vitamins in there. Filtering all of them out is not bad unless your on a water only diet. Zero water is fine because your making up the lost minerals by other foods and drinks you consume, however if your a fitness nut "gym bunny" don't spend half a day exercising and only drinking this zero water, caus it does takeout the electrolytes so why your burning fat your also starving your muscles so that perfect sixpac will not happen your body will consume it instead of building it up.

TDS meters do not measure bacteria, it only measures suspended particulates that bacteria may attach to. Bacteria is far too small to measure with such a simple instrument.

I've been doing this for a long time, using Brita filters. The Zero filters are better. And yes, I can taste the difference. But having the pre-filter taste is also sort of what makes vodkas different from one another. In some situations a "pristine" vodka isn't "better". Like different whiskey brands, sometimes you want the smokey taste, sometimes not.

I’m so glad you tested the Zero water filter. We have been using it for several years. My husband works all over the country and we take this with us. Phoenix was one of the places we tested in 2015 at a hotel and it was 514. We were in Detroit when they found the Flint water was full of lead. The Zero seemed to be the one they were saying removed the best. I wish I had written down the rest of the numbers. We drive to his work locations and spend several months a year in hotels while he is working. We have tested in various locations and so far the zero has cleared the water every time. We love it. Keep up the great work! You are the only one we watch review products together! (Husband likes to watch some Archie guy review expensive watches too 😎)

Also not to be that person but not only is the box easier for decomposition, it's also easier, cheaper, and better for the environment to make and transport

It’s actually harder to recycle boxed water because they have plastic and aluminum lining. In order to recycle the cardboard, you need to be able to separate all the materials from the cardboard and they usually won’t do that because it’s too much work so then they just don’t get recycled and go to landfill. The most sustainable option is to get a hydro flask and a filter like zero water and use that instead. Your only waste is the filter.

Not to be "one of those folks" but the boxed water is better for the environment. Plastic as we all know is horrible and sadly not enough people recycle. Its biodegradable and they also donate for the environment. I bought the zero pitcher after watching plastic ocean and seeing those poor birds. Google birds and plastic if is heart breaking. Gotta do your part :) Home depot gives out free water testers maybe snag a few of those.

if it's a box like a juice box, doubt it's any good for the environment...I did a report on juice boxes when I was in school (a few decades ago...OMG...), I cut one up into pieces, saw all those layers...even if it's not as bad as an old juice box, it must have at least some wax or something, to keep the cardboard from becoming soaked, how can that biodegrade or be recycled?

Biodegradable can only do so in the right conditions so it's not really better than plastic

Drinking water range is 30 to 400 ppm. Relax girl it's all good. Manufacturers's be selling you a bill of goods. Creating panic were none exists. You need some stuff in there for ph levels etc.

As someone who is a native Dallasite, you're NEVER going to get water without a lot of things dissolved in it. You know, most of those filtered waters have all the stuff that's supposed to make it safe filtered out and all the pollutants left in. I would have also tried Crazy Water from Mineral Wells. This also reminds me of that comedy sketch where the guy invents the ultimate water purifier. It's supposed to take everything but water out of the water. He puts some tap water in, and nothing comes out. After testing the tap water, he finds that there's no water in the tap water.
