Review: Your short pressure washer gun could be causing you some serious problems

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

These new short trigger guns for the pressure washers sure look good, but something isn't quite right. The cheap ones could actually be causing your pressure washer to perform worse than it should be, and damaging it too.

    Very helpful - I purchased an MTM SG35 as I have a Stihl RE 143 Plus , which is a beast of a machine and I decided to go for a more up market product. Very happy with my MTM SG35. Also the reviews showed that the MTM SG35 can be used simply by pulling the trigger with your pinky, so less fatigue on the hand especially if you are washing a number of cars one after another.

    had pulsing on my 7yr old K4 with old cheap stubby gun for 4 years now.....but also had an aqua stop adapter on the hose (bad for PW). removed that, but still had the issue (also had to get some minor repair done to the outlet section of the K4 post-winter 2021, now have cheap duvet when storing in shed). Recently bought a new AM Details stubby gun and K4 is working perfectly now.

    Hi mate, I was actually going to buy the one you have in this video after someone on DW said it was good & inexpensive. Its the annovi something-or-other MV925(?) ? Haven't bought short trigger gun before, so are you planning on getting a more expensive one then? I only have a K2 but slowly saving pennies up for a Kranzle down the line. Also, when I looked at that gun (if it is the one I mentioned), I couldn't work out how to get it to connect to the Karcher K series fittings, you know the ones you push and twist on?

  • @SuperchargedLlama

    @SuperchargedLlama

    The MV295 seems to get a lot of great reviews and I feel like I've got a very different experience to other people (although, not so different to the footage provided by another owner for the video). If you can stretch to it I would go for an MTM gun, even if it's not the SGS35. Usually when you're buying them you can specify the connector and you'd be able to choose the Karcher....quick connect I think? I know exactly what you're talking about.

    @@SuperchargedLlama Thats the one. Hmm choices, so it looks like double the price but for a better gun. Thing is, I'm only cleaning my car on the driveway and you're actually detailing other peoples using the cheap gun so I don't know haha, seems strange that I'd choose the better one. I suppose the MTM might be overkill for me but then as its a hobby any reasoning goes out the window 😂. The connector/adaptor can be changed out to suit your pressure washer as and when you change it right? E.g. I'd need to change it if I go from Karcher to Kranzle. Is there a difference in the fan pattern between the two? On some MTM videos (e.g. the high end stuff obsessed garage uses) I've seen a perfect fan shape coming out the end and then on others (not necessarily the MV925), its a bit more of a 'messy' fan shape. I wonder if its to do with the difference in how the water comes out of an open gun like you show, a dribble vs stronger cleaner stream.

  • @SuperchargedLlama

    @SuperchargedLlama

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@AM4N18 some great questions there. I'm going to try and answer them as best as I can. Will the MV925 suffice? Absolutely, yes it will. I'm going to change mine to the MTM one when I change my hose and the connectors to stainless, I've just had other outlays recently that have put that on hold, but it's coming....and that's more because I've got problems with all of that at the moment, but not severe enough to do it immediately. You're absolutely right that you can change the connector to the PW hose to a different brand at any point, you just purchase a different adapter. Most of them will be using 1/4" quick release (especially if you buy a new hose), so once you make that change then you're almost agnostic to the PW anyway. The big difference you're seeing on the fan of the jet is actually down to the nozzles. The cheap little plastic ones that are brightly coloured are the ones that give a very irregular fan (I use them still, they're effective). The higher quality ones, like those which Carscope sell, are built to a might higher standard and tolerance, they give a far better fan pattern.???but do they help clean the car any more effectively? Hmmmm,not sure.

    @@SuperchargedLlama Very kind of you to answer all that, thank you. I'll need to have a think, I like to buy the best of what I can so maybe I just save up and get the MTM for use with the K2 and then the gun part is 'done' and future proof whatever PW choice happens rather than going MV925 and then saving again for MTM down the line. I've seen those Carscope nozzles, they look very nice, crikey expensive items though and you're right it'll make no difference for the purpose of washing car/chemicals off. All in the details I suppose but it'll need to be one at a time for me rather than going whole hog and splashing in one go. I need to remind myself I'm not some detailing pro, I only wash my cars on my driveway 😅. Having said that I've always wanted to do a machine polishing course so never say never, I may have other peoples cars to clean one day on the side... Whats next on the channel ? Were you tempted by the Lustrous I mentioned when we first talked? Would that fit as something you'd offer to your clients? Might last too long if anything, you'd have nothing to add on when they return for another wash haha. Have a good weekend.

    Yeah I'm hearing it happens a lot. Same with not getting the right diameter quick release nozzles too! I have found that the MTM has made a real difference on my set up now.

    the genuine short gun is made by tecomec, and it's part of their mecline lineup, it is supplying to AR, which i dont think is gonna be low in quality... which leads me to suspect u r holding a chinese knock off... sorry if u got cheated, hope u didnt spent too much on it

    I shall have a check, any ideas how I will be able to tell? I use an MTM now anyway.

    @@SuperchargedLlama tbh I’ve no idea, but mtm seems like a safe bet. It’s not as expensive as mosmatic but it’s clearly better made than those knock offs. Would u recommend full stainless steel or sgs28 will do?

    @@haikuancheoh2418 I went with the 35 as I wanted stainless and not have to think about it anymore, if that makes sense? I friend of mine has the Sutner gun and I have to admit that it's nicer than the MTM - it feels like the trigger is a bit more progressive.

    @@SuperchargedLlama wao that’s some good stuff u have there. I’ll check suttner out, I know a Brit who sells Kranzle recommends suttner too.

    @haikuancheoh2418 my friend is a Kranzle user too, I think it's quite a common upgrade. I guess generally if people are paying for a Kranzle then they're happy to spend on the gun too.
