A compact, supremely elegant stainless steel watch with a handsome guilloche salmon dial and one of the most important modern movements ever created… We’re looking at the highly attractive Chopard L.U.C 1860 Salmon dial.
Chopard, and specifically the L.U.C collection (named after the brand’s founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard) is known for its handsome, elegant watches with impeccable execution. But more than anything, this collection launched in 1996 has brought the brand on the map of high-end watchmaking. With the L.U.C Collection, Chopard became part of the elite of Geneva-based haute Horlogerie, together with some of the most respected brands around.
And now, the brand returns to its roots with the Chopard L.U.C 1860… A watch that, if you know a bit about this collection, will feel immediately familiar. This watch is as attractive as the early versions of this watch were. Or should we say, for some reasons, it might be even better! We'll see this in this in-depth review.

Probably the best production watch currently on sale. Everything is right about it, the size is perfect, the thickness is perfect, the dial is exquisite, the case in steel and special steel at that is perfect, the movement is an update of one if the finest automatic movements ever designed and finished to levels above current patek production. Yes, it's not cheap, but it's a fraction of a Philippe dufour simplicity which is comparable in style and quality if not exclusivity

The moment you see the display case back with a finely finished movement that was clearly designed to fill the case, you can guess that it’s gonna be pricey.

Much better without the date. And it’s nice that Chopard uses the form of the indices as a consistent brand design characteristic.

There have been precious metal cases in the L.U.C. collections for quite some time, but sadly not with this stunner of a dial!
Beautiful timepiece. I'd say for the movement, finishing and precious metals it's a justified price. However it will have limited appeal considering it is a dress watch and the brand's fairly unknown aside from watch afficionados.

It such a beautiful watch. Shame the lugs are thicker than on the precious metal pieces. Very odd
The dial went from amazing to truly show-stopping. The choice for steel seems odd for a watch that seems to ain to outclass any other overtly dress watch, but would have been espeically welcome if associated with a more affordable price tag. On that level, I think there is nothing justified about it and the price is all about artificially building prestige from dubious scarcity in production. A pity, because I think it would hvae stayed a connaisseur's watch even at double or more the production and at a significantly lower price. I'm sure thwy could have done that, but they chose not to. While for the style I dont care one bit and I love the simple elegance of the case, for this money I'd feel short changed for not receiving a nobler valuable alloy. Perhaps the select few customers their looking for wouldn't care about that as we're in that category where price no longer directly relates to the goods acquired. The grubby flip side of 'haute' horlogerie.
