Review: Shoottech "Raptor" - a true compound slingshot
www.shoottech.com
Rubber based slingshots have lots of advantages over other muscle operated weapons - they are very efficient, and the ammo is totally inexpensive. But they also havce limitations, such as relatively low maximum speed of the shot. In addition, sighting systems are not common due to the nature of the weapon - practice is much needed to shoot a slingshot with accuracy.
The Shoottech "Raptor Advance" bow is having all of the slingshot's advantages, but none of its disadvantages. A pulley based compound system reduces the weight in drawn condition from the 80 lb top draw to just about 30 lb, and the peep/3D sights make aiming easy.
The weapon shoots both steel BBs (10 to 12 mm diameter) as well as arrows. With the clocked max speed of 148 m/s (almost 500 feet per second), this "slingshot" is the fastest one ever tested by The Slingshot Channel.
Two little bonus videos complete this thorough review.
A "The Slingshot Channel" production!

Boy, Geoffroy's approach was gazillions of times more respectful and reasonable. Do you really think I sent a slingshot to every one who asks?
The big advantage is the record breaking speed it achieves with 10 to 12 mm steel balls. Just lethal. At long ranges. Unrivalled.
This is not a cat, it is a family member. He enjoys my full patronage and protection.
At first I thought, what a waste of beer, but then when the second can was decimated all I could think was incredible clip! Worth the loss. Thank you again, Joerg.
videos like this are the reason I subbed and never looked back, beyond epic
Destin is a friend of mine, and he is VERY helpful.
I don't know, I still prefer the brute force of a 20mm steel ball flying at 70 m/s. Can do that with a Hammerhead, can't do it with the bow. The bow is very suitable for longer distances because of the faaaast speed = flat trajectory.
If you would have watched the whole five minute piece, you would have seen two homemade weapons as well. I run The Slingshot Channel, and cover each and every aspect of that niche. Reviews have always been a part of my work and I see nothing bad in that. BTW, the guys at Shoottech respectfully asked for my input during development, so this is not just any product to me,
Loverboy of my niece. He's a bit shy :)
It's takes great loading speed, accuracy and hand-eye coordination to shoot two cans of beer ALMOST simultaneously. You're not only a great slingshot maker but also a great slingshot wielder.
OK, Jörg, maximum respect - I did watch the whole video! I direct my "consumer versus manufacturer" comment to only the bow product. It's just that I find that you make most everything yourself very encouraging.
Link is at the top of the text description.
we all can't thank you enough for your effort in making these videos in english. Thankyou very much Joerg, you are a good man. I just subscribed.
I just wanted to say how much I love your channel!
The time slot I use for my hobbies is called "weekend". A great invention that means that the office is closed two days a week. :) I monetise my videos because materials and tools cost money. I never sell, so the yt income is needed to finance the hobby.
There is a string stopper (two of them) as well, but they also added a protector for the back of the hand/forearm.
I have to work during the week. My family likes food every once in while.
Thought about that, but there is not enough time. Remember this is just a hobby.
This bow only beats me when using really small ammo. The big balls still rule.
Actually, the two full hits happened within a quarter of a second (real time). The video plays 40x slower. I am not THAT good!
Thanks to you I now have a new hobby! Just ordered a nice handmade catapult from a local maker (Highland Catapults) and am on the lookout for some nice materials to have a go at making them myself. Thanks Joerg :)
The magnet needs twin strings, otherwise it will twist and terrible things may happen. Also, if you don't use rubber, the light balls (about 4 gramms for the 10mm) will damage the limbs, much like dry firing.
The rubber "drives" the bow limbs, which don't flex at all. A total of twelve rubber bands are used for the 80 lb version.
Those are very different concepts. The Raptor is larger, but shoots lightweight arrows and especially steel balls very fast. The Liberty is smaller and better suited for heavier arrows. It can't shoot steel balls at all and can not be converted.
Have already sone some work, but I see no way to reach this kind of efficiency for small ammo. My slingshots are still achieving far higher energy levels, but only by using heavy ammo.
This is a brilliant idea, i'm sure a lot of your subscribers would buy at least one
No shortages in supply were caused by this video.
I don't know. It fires steel balls. It uses rubber bands to convert muscle energy into kinetic energy. This makes it a slingshot, in my book.
What a nice slingshot the knifemaker is gonna get ! Thumbs up .
I may open up a T-Shirt shop and use the proceedings for a cam. The one I want is really expensive.
Arrows are a compromise, albeit faster than any recurve. Steel balls is where this shines.
No, the designers have built in a protection bar. The hand is not in the line of fire.
Springstops are installed, vibration is low. Arrow speed is OK.
Exactly.
clever design! The slingshot you are planning on trading looks beautiful :)
That Raptor is a real beauty, i want one!
It is very accurate.
I don't think so, as the ball in the magnet holder would then be pinched by the string.
Die Regel ist: 45 Grad nach oben, das Geschoss darf dann immer noch nicht die Umzäuning verlassen. So ein Diabolo fliegt ziemlich weit. Mein Garten ist leider nicht die Ponderosa :)
Thick tubular rubber, will last a loooong time. Replacing them is easy and cheap.
Slingbow = silent and versatile, firearms = loud, smelly and critical regarding ammo. But firearms are a lot more powerful.
Everyone stops and stares at you if you spill your beer on the floor, as if to say "You gunna drink that?"
I have done about 200 shots with it so far, no tuning was necessary.
It's a compound bow
No, it does not fire stones. Except maybe small lumps of iron ore.
that bow looks beautiful! id love to have such bow that is also cababel of firing sling shot rounds
You are by far my favourite German...
I really enjoy your videso Joerg, simply because you introduce all the varying forams of ranged combat outside of ballistic weaponry. Thanks for the vids :)
The Raptor has an arm guard built in.
Ist mein kleiner Superstar. Er weiß das auch.
Such an epic bow
Great video
"Dear Santa". Also, for a second there I thought you went cat hunting :O
Ist mal wieder ein Review. Ich habe aber bei der Entwicklung mitgeholfen.
No, this one I can't make at home. High quality machining requires CNC manufacturing and probably water cutters like a flowjet.
That thing is a beast, ima get myself one of them
that is an insane speed you got on that.
Will do accuracy and destruction tests next.
It's all too far. I need the equipment right here.
What's your guess?
great video as always!
Maybe the central riser can be smaller? Shorter, I mean.... this genial machine may be the best slingbow ever seen... thanks for sharing.
Very interesting. I wonder how the bow will last compared to a traditional compound. The rubber must wear out.
In what part of the world do they call this device a "sligshot"?

Because it is rubber and muscle powered. It's a slingshot.
I traded with Gueffroy Gautier.
very cool that's a very versatile tool, you can hunt lots of things with it :)
My god, that is a BEAST! I wonder though wether it could be made more compact, it's still rather bulky... (I'm refering to the slingbow btw) but its still my weapon of choice in any shtf scenario!
that red ceder wood is a beautiful color
It depends on the definition of course, but here's why I would call the "Raptor Advance" a bow and not a slingshot: A bow's handle is inside the plane of its springs. A slingshot's handle is perpendicular to the plane of its springs. A crossbow's handle is also perpendicular to the plane of its springs, but the springs lock in place when fully extended, allowing firing with a trigger. Your definition would also work, if you define weapon types by their projectiles and energy storage materials.
Glorious slo-mo ending, by the way!! Those beers died heroic deaths.
I thought about opening a T-Shirt shop for that purpose.
488 ft. per sec. is 333 miles per hour! THAT IS AMAZING, well done, good sirs.
yeah thats a great idea you could also sell some of your sling shots or accessories for sling shots and maybe make a little picture book showing how to make diffrent types of sling shots just some ideas :)
I love this guy!
Four shot crossbow isn't optimized yet, too early for speed tests.
Great post
bester tag der Woche: SLINGSHOT SUNDAY ;)
This happens quite frequently.
Yes, very true! Thanks Joerg, keep up the good work! :D
Yes I was wondering about that.
I'd love to see you shoot that helmet from your "zombies with helmets: can they be killed?" video with that compoundslingshot.
I need to get one of those...
yes that is a very pretty handle.
Joerg you are certainlly a big man. I love your videos. You are finally famous but don't need a body guard.
Ab 700 USD.
PLEASE make a destruction video with this badass thing
wow~~ it's awesome!! i can't believe
next time on the slingshot channel "how to build your own raptor" please!!
Simply use calculateme com.
It can certainly make dead things deader.
You shot the second can before the first one even hit the ground?? Your'e awesome.
That thing is awesome.
That's one Cool shooter.....
wow, its awesome that you made your own computer to watch KZread on; wait a second...
THIS... IS.... AWESOME!
Its ok :) i enjoy the slingshots just as much :)
those 3 dislikes have to be because of that beer in the end ...
thanks! I wonder if shooting an arrow (from that bow) will yield a higher kinetic energy. Not sure what is the optimal arrow for that bow .
I think that 2:33 and around there focuses on the upper rubber band assembly in motion.
Probably. My expertise is slingshots, really.
