The UI is very clean to me and nice. Faster to go through things compared to my new 2ds xl and when I had my psp.

Even three months there still aren't any games for the Vita. I'd wait to see what E3 brings before deciding but for what it's worth the 3DS definitely has games right now.

Ruben Iyf I have them both, both are good. Both have their good points and their bad points. As for OS's, both have pretty fast OS's. The New 3DS is a HUGE speed upgrade for the OS and things moving about as fast as the Vita. Powering on the system and launching apps is actually faster on the New 3DS. Both can make "folders" but 3DS's can store drastically more items in a folder. 3DS however is completely lacking in on screen notification popups which is a huge oversight. Also Vita can have more running in the background then 3DS. Both systems offer the ability to use themes though Vita can set screenshots as themes. Online Wise, Vita's is light years better then 3DS's feature wise. On 3DS you don't have trophies, you can't send friends direct messages, you have no voice chat apps much less cross game chat, you can join friends games from the friends list if they're playing a game that supports this but you can't invite friends to join you. Vita has all of this and it has slightly more stable online then 3DS though they both perform pretty well overall. 3DS however has the Miiverse, which is quite nice as it's pretty much a social network and forum for the Nintendo Network. You can post screenshots, ask questions, and get help pretty easily. Another major thing to note about the New 3DS is, while there is an account system and games do connect to that account, game purchases and licenses bind to the system, not the account. If you get hacked, you won't have to worry about losing your licenses but if your system gets stolen or you trade it in, say goodbye to your digital games. The browser on the New 3DS has also been revamped and is actually a better browser then the Vita's. Both map the buttons well but 3DS feels more natural and is less laggy. Also the video player on the 3DS plays more videos then Vita and even Wii U. Online store wise, Vita's has a bit of lag and longer load times. I also prefer the 3DS's layout to Vita's personally. It's more user friendly and a bit easier to use. App wise, priorities between the 2 companies are apparent immediately. Vita has more convenient apps imo. It's the only system that allows background skype calls, meaning skyping with friends while playing. It also has the standard social network services like Facebook and Twitter, Playstation Now, Live From Playstation, and allows you to play video files. Let's also not forget about Remote Play which allows you to turn your Vita into a mini PS3 and/or PS4. While the 3DS has the basic video apps such as Hulu, Netflix, and KZread, much of the apps are things like Calculators, audio creation tools, art tools, things to go along with games, and even a programming app. It also has preinstalled separate game apps like Streetpass Mii Plaza which is actually pretty fun, entertaining, and addictive. Hardware wise, these 2 systems are much closer then the DS and PSP were, especially now that the New 3DS is here. The visual difference is there and noticeable but it's not really all that big, especially when comparing games that are optimized for the New 3DS to Vita games. It's like comparing PS2 to the original Xbox. Vita does indeed look better but not by a large margin. Screen wise the OLED of the original Vita is much nicer then the original 3DS's screen as the 3D effect required a very specific position. The New Vita however loses the OLED which isn't a HUGE difference but is still noticeable. It does still have a resolution advantage but compared to the super stable 3D and the slightly better screen quality over it's predecessors, the New 3DS XL looks better imo. Both have sensitive touch screens, Vita's is multi touch Capacitive and 3DS's is a stylus using resistive. Both work, both are functional, both work better in different scenarios. Really the resistive vs capacitive touch screen debate is one entirely of personal preference, I personally don't have one on this. The Dual Analogs of both are a hit or miss really. The New 3DS uses a slider pad on the left and a laptop like nub on the right. Both require about the same pressure as a normal analog but don't feel like a normal analog at all. The Vita's Dual Analogs are real analogs but because of their size move about a 3rd the space PS4 analogs do and require a much more gentle touch. The New 3DS's Analog's placements are both up, which could through you off and personally, I have problems with the c-stick because of this sometimes. Looking down in games is way too much of a chore. Vita however has both the analogs positioned down but the design of the system makes it hard to get a good grip causing my hands to cramp in more intense dual analog games. Imo, neither are ideal and shouldn't be talked about over the other. The D-Pads on the 2 imo are fantastic. 2 of the best on a handheld and are right on par with the 3 consoles this gen. They both have a great roll and feel very tactile and responsive. Neither are mushy nor do they protrude to much to the point it hurts your thumb. The facebuttons are bit bigger on the New 3DS and they're a bit better spaced. Vita's are a bit too close to the analog and they creek but they stick out a bit more which I like personally. The L and R button buttons on Vita are curved and have a sort of mushy yet clicky feel. I'm not as big of a fan of them which also has to do with how the system is a more curved design. The New 3DS however has more clicky tactile L and R buttons. Pressing the ZL and ZR feels different and I'm not used to it yet as they're not behind the L and R buttons like trigger buttons but rather go further in the system. To use them you need to click them with your finger tips while covering the L and R buttons with the middle of your index fingers. Storage Wise, neither system is ideal. The SD card slot is no longer on the side but now inside the system requiring you to unscrew the back and take it off. Which on the side note, the back plate doesn't just snap on the system and is actually kind of loose even when screwed in. Like it doesn't wobble but I can literally pull the back plate from the system a bit even when it's screwed on which is unlike the previous models of the 3DS. Anyways, if you do a transfer from system to system on the 3DS or New 3DS, it takes quite some time. Myself, I didn't do a wifi transfer and went with PC over USB but it still took me 3 hours do having about 45gigs of data. Another thing is if you intend on using a micro SD card higher then 32 gb, you'll need to format it to FAT32. The 3DS doesn't reformat Micro SD cards and can't read anything other then FAT32. Vita you don't have to worry about that transfer process thanks to the cloud via PS Plus. However the storage is proprietary, is as fast as a class 4 SD card but costs over double the price of a class 10 SD card (the industry standard). My 64 gig Vita Card cost me about $120 where as my 64 gig Micro SD card cost me about $45. Backwards compatibility wise, both systems offer quite a bit in this category. Vita works with most digital PSP games, most PSP minis, many PS1 classics, and some PSN games. It also has quite a bit of games PS3 available through Playstation Now. The 3DS plays all physical and digital DS games and has Virtual Console games on it. Unfortunately if you have any of the same VC games on another Nintendo system, you can't just use those games on this system despite already purchasing them elsewhere. As for actual games I really recommend looking and seeing what games you like if you can only pick one. I find that 3DS and Vita both have fantastic games and are the systems to get if you like Japanese games this gen. This isn't something that's just as cut and dry as this system has these type of games while the other has this. They both actually have a pretty good mix of game types and there's a lot more on both systems then just what's popular what people know. If I you skip everything I wrote and just read this, regardless of features, power, and aesthetics, the most important thing to buy a system for is games. Both systems have them and if you're only going to buy one, this is what it should come down to. Besides, in regards features, power, looks, apps, functionality, etc. they both get blown out of the water by smartphones anyways. It's the games that really make the system.

Cliff Reeser What's wrong with indies? They are, most of the time, better than all the recent AAA games. Longer, more content, cheaper. And frankly, clear, sharp and pretty 2D artwork looks much nicer on the Vita's screen like Rayman or Child of Light than sub par 3D models of early PS3 games like Uncharted or Killzone.

Sony has officially stopped making updates to firmware, stopped making first-party games and it's considered a legacy console now. Just because a system is being sold doesn't mean that it's not dead. I can go on Amazon/eBay and buy an Atari 2600 but that doesn't mean that the system is still going strong.

This is an informational review that I really thin helped me, but I have one question due to the price of the PS Vita, will Sony bring the price down

Just got one yesterday and im hooked, absolutely love the vita :).

Essentially iPad 3 power crammed into a handheld, which explains the battery runtime. Impressive for the time, and with the reduced resolution display, the headroom is definitely there for moderately complex shaders. As is life in the mobile world, the Vita was surpassed quickly in gpu power (an arena the 3DS didn't even bother with). Like the Shield, this would make for a good emulation platform, if it didn't require some hacks to run unsigned code and a storage format that is only seconded by RED as far as bending you over goes.

Do you actually like the joysticks on it? because I used it in a store and the first second I had in in my hands I hated the joysticks. I also thought it isn't as responsive as the D-Pad.

This kid should be offered a job on a 'tech' TV show. He has the voice for it and has excellent presenting skills.

Left shoulder sqeaks on mine too. I read that loosening the top screw in the game card slot fixes this problem. Haven't tried it though.

heres a fix for the squeaky shoulder button use a philips 0 head screw driver and by the screw beneath the button. unscrew SLIGHTLY and it will fix the problem
