Hi J. Art Fox! Love love love this review, and your final painting was absolutely stunning. Thank you so much for sharing! I work as the Paint Maker for Geneva and it helps me so much to watch and read honest reviews of our paints so I can perfect our recipe for our customers. All of our paints are different consistencies due to the differences in pigments; each pigment we use has their own characteristics so I appreciated hearing you note those differences in consistency in your video. The Burnt Umber obviously wasn’t meant to be quite so runny, as the insert said (I had completely forgotten about those inserts and that gave me a good laugh - luckily we haven’t had to use those in a long time), and I’ve actually worked with our Titanium White recipe to make it a little “less soupy” as well (we struggle with that one in particular because even the slightest differences can make that one too runny or way too thick!) This video was a fun throwback for me; I make the paints but I also handle all of the shipping and I definitely packed that order (I tend to over tape all of the orders because I worry they’re not secure enough 😂). Again, thank you so much for sharing your review of Geneva paints! I know this is meant to help out other artists, but it also helps me tremendously to see the paints in use and hear what artists have to say about them.
I use these paints and I’m glad to see someone else give their option of the Geneva paints. I love how you can leave the paint in the brush till next day. And how they don’t dry up on my palette. If I don’t finish my painting for the day, I just cover my palette with…I use a box…and they stay fresh till I finish my work.
The unique smell of Geneva artist colors is due to the addition of clove oil to retard the drying even more than just linseed oil alone. Great review and splendid painting.
I am a great fan of Geneva colors - they Work beautifully 🎵🎨🎶😊
Great video 👍
Odd question, do you think the pigment size is fine enough for minature painting? Also how is the drying time at thin layering? I've been using oil paints for minatures and looking for different options out there.
Gorgeous kingfisher painting! Please try putting your paints on say canvas paper to illustrate the differences.
Why do you use a palet with uneven lighting? Some paints are in the dark. Some in the light.
Porque no los venden en amazon
I love mine ❤
doesn't he have three "power colors" out?? a teal, an orange and a purple i think.
Did u stick to this paint or use all brands interchangeably?

who on earth would stick to that runny oily crap.
it’s made with clove oil
So far, I wouldn’t waste my time or money on these oil paints.

ooooh!
They have stopped production. 😩
Get on with it
too soapy for my taste
I bought there oil paint, oil paint came quickly and I enjoyed using the colors that were usable. 2 out of the 5 colors in the essential kit I purchased were not usable the white and burnt umber. both of them basically impossible to get out of the tube, and when I finally got them out of the tube they were the consistency of glue. I emailed them 3 times and literally did not get one response. I would 100% never buy from them again or recommend there paint to anyone. DO not buy if you like buying good quality products.

agreed. Mark Carder and all the expensive "props" in his videos are a joke
It smells like that because he adds clove oil to the paints. Something that is totally asinine to do, I guess the idea is to slow the drying time for wet on wet but pigment + linseed oil already takes days to dry (except for naturally fast dryers like umbers). I've had mixtures of titanium and ultramarine take a week to dry before. I can only imagine how slow that Ultramarine dries. Clove oil also negativity affects the strength of the paint film (Google it) The "correct" way to use clove oil is to put some on a rag and enclose your palette in a container with the rag, which will stop your paint from "filming" over. I bought some of his paints, noticed the strange smell, and did some research. They've stayed in their packaging. If you really like the consistency, buy some tubes and fill them with some Gamblin or something. or, Rembrandt paint is excellent with an extra-fine grind that is "oily" out of the tube. Others like that are vasari, doak, charvin, and to a lesser extent M Harding, Sennelier, Blockx, or Blue Ridge.
way to much oils and fillers.
