    Appreciate the high quality review here--- I've been debating between getting this or the bose soundlink iii and i think i want to get this now. it doesn't cost that much more yet it looks way cooler and seems like it will sound quite a bit better as well.

    I've had the Marshall Hanwell for around a year now. How does the Woburn compare sound wise to the Hanwell? Without comparing size specs it appears to be the same although the Woburn has built in bluetooth capability whereas my Hanwell does not (I had to purchase separately a bluetooth device for my Hanwell).

    Hi Kendall and thank you for the review! I have a question: Do you think the Woburn would be a good alternative to a soundbar? Can it handle movies and games? thank you

  • @KendallGiles

    @KendallGiles

    9 жыл бұрын

    pleHrueyoV Hey. From the one soundbar I've heard, I'd mention that the Woburn is a powerful speaker -- especially if you are playing movies or games in a large room, the Woburn can deliver the sound. I've watched Netflix movies on my laptop and have projected the sound to the Woburn. On the other hand, the soundbar is positioned right above or below the screen, so that does tend to give a bit of an immersive experience for watching movies and playing games. Perhaps if you could position the Woburn behind or near the screen you could replicate the immersive experience of the soundbar? I think the Woburn is more versatile and I personally don't miss the fact that the sound is not directly above or below the screen. I hope this helps...

    How is the Bluetooth connectivity? I was hoping you would demo it in your review...

  • @KendallGiles

    @KendallGiles

    9 жыл бұрын

    michael denis Hi Michael. Sorry for the oversight. The Bluetooth connectivity does work, though I have to say it's a little more fiddly than, for example, getting my Bluetooth keyboard to work with my iPads. With the iPad, assuming you've previously paired the keyboard, you turn the iPad on, hit a key on the keyboard to wake it up, and then you can type. With the Marshall and my laptop: assuming you've previously paired your laptop and Marshall speaker: make sure the source on the speaker is Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your laptop. Hit Pair on the speaker. On your laptop connect via Bluetooth to the speaker. The result should be audio through the Marshall. Once connected I've been happy with the performance -- we listen to music, audiobooks, and even project the audio for movies through the speaker. Of course, wired audio is better than Bluetooth audio, however. Also, note that there can be a slight delay between the video and the audio if you do watch movies on your laptop and project the audio through the speaker via Bluetooth. We don't mind this delay in practice. I'll also mention, for completeness, that I have in the past accidentally left the speaker on (with source==Bluetooth), and have fired up my laptop (with Bluetooth on) and started working, forgetting about the speaker. Eventually the speaker does connect with the laptop, and I have been surprised by a blast of audio through the speaker when I was not expecting it. It wasn't the speaker's fault however--it was doing what it was supposed to do--I just forgot to turn it off. So, as the movie says, with great power comes great responsibility. :) I hope this answers your question about Bluetooth.

    I am missing something. You said that it has a headphone cable but is that not really an auxiliary input cable used for the input on the top of the speaker? Where is the headphone jack because I am not seeing it? Is not the 3.5mm input on the top only an input for your mp3 or other source of choice?

  • @KendallGiles

    hello. I bought this Woburn. But I am very disappointed with the sound. Bass& Treble are ok. But the percussion drums sound very low with this Speaker. My Logitec X230 computer speakers sounds much much better, which I bought for 80euros. Can I connect other speakers with the Woburn?. I am ready to open them up and loose the guarantee... As long as i have a good sound as I had immagined.

    Hi, i received this beautiful speaker today! What an amazing sounding item. I have just one question: when its switched on, but not in use, there is a light sshhhing sound coming though the speaker. Is this normal?

  • @KendallGiles

    @KendallGiles

    9 жыл бұрын

    posihxctch That sounds a little strange. I don't hear a hiss on mine. Only if I turn the volume up and select the Input 1 source while leaving in the headphone cable without having the cable plugged into my ipad -- then I hear a low hum -- like you would hear with a guitar cable plugged into an amp but don't have the cable plugged into the guitar. But if I remove the cable, no hum.

    Henry Canizares I really like the looks of the Woburn. And yes, I just got finished playing a movie via Netflix on my iPad, where I pumped the audio to the Woburn via Bluetooth. We also sometimes do karaoke night playing songs via Bluetooth over the Woburn. I try to play along on my guitar, but thankfully the loudness of the Woburn covers up my beginner mistakes. :)

  • @KendallGiles

    @KendallGiles

    9 жыл бұрын

    trey herrera Hi Trey, No -- mine does not pop when I turn it on. I noticed that the speaker will hum if my hand is on plug of the other end of the 3.5mm cable that plugs into a headphone jack, and if the speaker volume is high. But like when plugging a guitar into an amp, I usually try to make sure the amp/speaker is off and the volume setting is 0 before connecting the guitar/laptop/ipad/etc. Might that be the cause of the pop you are hearing?

    There's no point to listening the music on the speaker cause our PCs speakers (most of the peoples) won't be able to play the same way as the Marshalls speaker plus the youtubes sound decoding while transmitting it.

    It seems that people who things like this have no idea what price they should be paying for a simple device like this with small speakers that some salesman has hyped by embellishing the quality with cleverly written marketing. My friend has a Marshall speaker he paid a small fortune for that is outperformed by my cheap old ghetto blasters. Unless it's a guitar amp forget it
