Review | leofoto tripod review | Ranger Series LS-284C & LS-324C
Tripod Review | After some thought I have decided to do gear reviews on this channel, having posed the age old question 'does gear matter?' I decided, gear is fundamental and absolutely necessary so reviewing it is important too.
A simple look at the tripods I am currently using and why other landscape photographers looking for a new tripod may be interested in the Leofoto Ranger series.
Not a sponsored video they were bought with my own money around 2 years ago so I have had time to put them through their paces.

Hi Tony. I’ve recently subscribed to your channel and really enjoy your vlogs. Great ideas for locations and also you helped me in my final decision to buy the 324c tripod. I’ve been researching for sometime having had the 223c mini for a while. I also use LCE but in Colchester and bought it finally and in my first outing to Brightlingsea in 20mph winds I was super impressed.

Good choice with the tripod, I really don't think you can go wrong with this company I am not easy on my gear and I am constantly surprised with how these tripods stand up to it. I really fancy the geared head they do but it's not available in Europe, hopefully that will change. All the best Tony.

great review. I am still hesitating between 284 and 324 for a7r5+100-400 (total 2.1Kg) for travel and studio. I rely more in robust heavy 324+lh-40 but heavier. the extra column looks a toy, isn't it ? MrQ 284 and 324 look really nice. again 284 or 324 ?

Quit vascialting and just do it man! Buy one, or two, or three, keep one or keep them all. We all know you are loaded! 😯 😆 🤣
I love these and really wanted the 284c, but when I saw it, the separate center column seemed so cumbersome when traveling and for quick setups. And without it, the height is just so low. Trying to figure out an alternative in this price range... any thoughts?

Hi, sorry it's taken me a couple of days to get back to you. If you haven't got sorted yet ... Leofoto have a great range for many different needs check their website out but have a look at the more traditional LX-324CT+XB-38 it has a centre column and goes quite high plus the centre column does come out if you want too. If you are in the UK then check out London Camera Exchange 'Chichester branch' they are Leofoto dealers and offer great advice and service, I am not sponsored by these guy's or anything. The new ls284 flip lock has no center column
What is that black wrap you have around the legs?

That looks like handlebar tape that you put on your racing bike. Good solution to stop the cold and create more grip.

Hi. Absolutely bang on mate, it is handlebar tape cosy warm in winter but the main reason is I am such a clumsy sod it stops me banging the hell out of the carbon fibre!

Hmm, I would venture it is some black vinyl wrap, as in bicycle bar wrap? Hmmm 🤔🙄🤣
Your listed weight of the LS-384C is not accurate. The combined weight (legs and head) is 1.91 kg / 4.2 lb. These are the specs from B&H. My old wooden large format tripod was over 7 lbs, not something you’d want to carry everywhere.

Hey Markus, thanks for commenting. The 7.3lbs I refer to in the video is the combined weight of both tripods and ballheads together (stated at 4:51). You have possibly researched a different model this video is about the LS-284C and the LS-324C and not the LS-384C you mention in your comment. Any other questions I'm happy to answer, cheers.
