KK was the reason I started playing guitar. I was 11 years old and watched a video of the screaming for vengeance tour. When he did his solo in Victim of Changes I told myself...." I wanna feel what this guy is feeling "

I saw them play Manchester last night. Ripper Owens is a beast!! he made all the vocal parts look effortless. A very enjoyable gig. I agree with Pete, regardless of how generic it is there's something so much fun about it and my mate and I left the gig with smiles on our faces, and would happily go back for more. job done.

What I like about this album is if you like just one song, there is a strong chance you will like them all. They are all quality efforts and each has a part to them that makes them a good song and all songs go together. This isn't a pot-luck album, this is an album with a sound and style that doesn't waiver. If you like lead work, harmony lead work, this is your album, I haven't done the math on how much of the album is lead work, but it seems like a lot, they are not ashamed to just jam and it will get back to the program whenever they get to it. Great talent and production on this.

It's a very enjoyable album. The production isn't the best - the guitars sound a little dense, and the bass is usually inaudible. But it's a fun album packed with good riffs and fantastic solos. One More Shot at Glory is definitely a stand out track; the bridge is tremendous.

Three weeks into the release of The Sinner Rides Again, and I must say it is a f....... classic for me!! And boy do the Judas Priest camp really felt that intimidated?! Or is it a coincidence that their (JP) new single(which is really good too) has to come out now 6 month before album release!? Could it be because KK's new killer album just been released!!!??? Of cause not... yeah right! Jayne Andrews and that camp has done everything to sabotage KK! Remember how they said that "KK was not up for the task" at the HOF perfomance?! Which everyboddy else could see that he clearly was! And not letting him in on re-releases of the old albums... and now this! Just leaves a bad taste for this fan since early 80's!

I like the fact that they’re not exact replicas of each other. Sermons had a few more variations …standouts for me Sons of the sentinel , strike of the viper, title track , hymn 66 ans keeper of the graves ….8/10

It sounds really good but after all these years usually need something that catches my attention or differentiates the band a bit. Not sure that was heard here and appreciate your review acknowledging that matter. On the listening list for a full hearing or two and then we'll see. But as always, thanks for the weekly new product episodes, Pete. Always something new to hear.

I will agree with everything you said, but would only give it 2.5 to 3 stars. I am still disappointed that Les Binks never got involved with them. Maybe he never recovered from his injury whatever that was. I also wish KK had kept the original band name, KK's Steel Mill. He sounds like he still has a beef with his former bandmates and is trying to create another Judas Priest. Just look at some of the song titles and you can see what I mean. I still like the music but as you say, the lyrics are not so good. Maybe I feel this way about the lyrics because I am 63 not 18 years old, I do not know. Ripper sounds great, but this also reminds me of the Painkiller era of Judas Priest and I am more of a fan of the 70's and 80's Priest.

Thanks for answering my question. I never got the first K.K's Priest album, because what I heard sounded too much like Painkiller outtakes. If this the same, then I'll pass. Would have liked some '70s influences. Incidentally, the musical direction of the forthcoming Priest album is said to be progressive and with '70s influences, but with a modern twist.

I actually didn’t listen to the first album much when it was released not too long ago. However, I think this release is much better and it’s a nice placeholder until we get the next priest album. If kk wasn’t in the band would I still like it? Probably less, but I it’s a good listen. I’m interested in following how this band is evolves. This band seems healthier than priest members so it sounds like it may outlast priest in the long term.

KK's Priest is starting show its own identity with these two releases and it is different than JP, which is good! I will say that live they really look, sound, and feel like a hungry band. I love Accept and early UDO, I saw Accept in London back in 1982 and a few times since - but UDO's done nothing really new or innovative in the past 20 years, the two exceptions being the "Navy Metal Night" album with the orchestra which is good fun and the "Dirkschneider" live album of Accept covers. Otherwise I stopped at the "Holy" album from over 20 years ago. Everything that can be done with the "classic heavy metal" sound has been done - don't get me wrong, I still dig out Accept, proper Judas Priest, early UDO and few others from the 1980's but everything else afterwards is just derivative.

@@biggsexy007 Again, I have to disagree - the Primal Fear stuff is just more plodding Germanic classic metal, it has all been done before. Mat Sinner's a great musician, the stuff he has done with Sinner since the beginning is mostly very good, but that's because they stick a lot of melody into the songs that keep it fresh and interesting.

KK's Priest 2nd album better than the first IMO, Sons of the Sentinel , Strike of the Viper, The Sinner Rides Again and Pledge Your souls are faves as of today, yes the titles of songs are a bit corny and lyrics too but the riffs are great! go check it out thanks Pete ~ i give it 3.0 out of 5.0

Drums and guitars sound incredible, but I've had a hard time getting into it because Ripper's singing doesn't fit with the cheesy tropes and lyrics. I hope going forward they cut out the cheese or switch to a singer that it fits better with (but don't get it wrong, I do like Ripper!)

I couldn't dissagree more. Yeah the lyrics are cheesy but in the best kind of way. What more to excpect from songs all written by KK? (And that is said with affection!) KK Downing is one of the inventors of this kind of music many of us love! And I can't imagine any other greater to sing these killer songs than Tim! (Except Halford) Imo is he killing it on the vocals on this album! For me this is a great great album! Great songs, killer riffs, killer vocals and a fantastic production. 9 out of 10 for me!

I agree with you. I don’t mind cheesy lyrics if they’re sung with some clear tongue in cheek fun, but Ripper delivers these with such seriousness.

It's better than the first album, not a masterpiece but solid. I agree with your rating, 3.5/5.0.

Love KK. He still looks like he's enjoying playing live. Rob & company sort of do sometimes. It's not like Priest is doing anything innovative these days. I will say the Ripper lyrics were one of the reasons I didn't care for that era of Priest.

9/10! 7 minutes review and 5 minutes oldshit, cheesy lyrics and song titles. This album is pure metal and riffs and solos you not hear often. And yes we like Sentinals who are Sinners!

@@JIF882 Yeah I know that KK left... But we all know that Glenn really is not that very much (on the album) even though we been told so! So for me as a fan since early the 80's, this current JP is not the real JP for me when two out of three guys from the core of the band ain't om stage!( What also made JP so great was the writing team of Rob, KK and Glenn) . It still very good, but a Judas Priest with Andy Sneap on stage is not Judas Priest!(More like a gloryfied Halford band, and a very good one!) Just my oppinon!

KK's Priest is definitely good, dumb, meat and potatoes metal. All of the Judas Priest call backs and references would be total cringe, except they manage to go just up to the edge of cringe without crossing that line. They also manage to write songs that are well good enough that the references don't get too annoying. As much as the schism between KK Downing and his former bandmates is a bummer, at least we get a second Priest that is also putting out good music.

The album has everything I miss from current JP; blazing fast twin-leads, soaring vocals, energy and attitude. In an ideal world KK would be with JP, but at least this album gives me some of the things a really loved from JP. Personal not that interested in the new album of JP..just heard the new single; sounds well written..but sterile and boring to me.
