Review & Demo of Versafine Clair Pigment Stamping Inks

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Let's take a look at the Versafine CLAIR stamping inks: a "quick drying pigment ink that provides impeccable solid surface-area coverage as well as capturing fine details on stamps. VersaFine Clair’s innovative formulation provides the perfect image to use with watercolor paints or water-based markers."
I show you how it looks in several colors, when brayered, water-reactivity, with alcohol markers, embossed, and even as an alcohol-lifting ink!

    I really appreciate this video. I have seen many people use them and no one has really given them a thorough review. The colors are gorgeous. I do like how crisp the black looks with watercolor. I find it very interesting that it also acts like the "lift ink". Thanks for giving your honest review!

    I just bought the Nocturne (black) Clair pad a few weeks ago and have been putting it through its paces. I really love the new lid!!! I intentionally broke off my VF lid because it would always get in the way while trying to stamp or having to hold it flipped open felt awkward to me. I love that this lid fits snuggly so I know the pad isn't going to dry out regardless of how it gets stored in my craft room or to-go bag without having to rubber band it. I've been watercoloring my stamped images a lot lately and this pad is great for that. I'd also like to try the GInaK Amalgam ink but this was at my LSS and I love to support them, plus the GinaK Amalgam only comes in black (so far) and this has so many colors available that could be useful too. Interesting about the lift properties. Doesn't surprise me that Ranger claimed something "original" again... e.g. Goosebump spray vs Distress Resist spray. They just have a better marketing team :-/

    Hi! Thanks for the great video, you have helped me decide to buy some of these great ink pads. Question: Is that a stamp of the quote "If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you."? If so, do you remember where you got it? I've looked all over for a stamp of that quote and cannot find one. Thanks!

    Very interesting properties contained in Versafine Clair inks. Thank you for the info. While Versafine Clair does share the “lifting “ capability, it appears to me that it reacts the same way as the Archival ink ......it lifts fairly well but for restamping, it pretty much only stamps in the color of the original ink ( versafine or archival) not in the alcohol ink colors, which the Lift Ink does. Am I correct or did I not interpret the reaction correctly?

    If I understand you- you mean that if you use VFC to "Lift" alcohol ink, when you go to reprint what was lifted on the stamp you get the color of the VCF (and not necessarily the alcohol ink itself-) then YES.

    It seems like a nice line of ink, but I don’t see any difference between the “old” versafine, and the Clair. They are both good for detail stamping and embossing. Neither can be used with watercolor markers unless you clear emboss first. But I can’t say that I’ve tried all of the other techniques that you demonstrated. Would you consider doing a comparison video?

    Deborah Anne you are right! I said watercolor when I should have said alcohol. You need to clear emboss before using alcohol markers. Sorry about the confusion 😢

    Can you tell me: would this ink bleed through Tomoe River paper, like in Hobonichi planners?

  • @crafttestdummies

    @crafttestdummies

    5 жыл бұрын

    I don't know what kind of paper that is specifically- sorry!- But i did try it in my day planner and yes, it does bleed through. It's a thicker, wetter pigment ink, and that paper is rather thin.

    The new packaging will keep the pad airtight and juicier longer. You cannot emboss with the (old) Versafine product.
