Just awesome. They hold the torch high for classic metal. These guys deliver the goods. Love the contributions of Leatherby...Night Demon is one of my current favorites of the genre.

I love this album, and this band. I found a good EQ setting to bring out the crunch in the opening track. Totally kick ass riff.

Great surprise for me this year! I'm not a tremendous fan of the band, but this album has something really appealing , lots of classic metal type riffs , solid vocals, one of my fave releases this year for sure!😎

Righto, How did I miss this band? I don't recall ever hearing them before, and I've read a shitload of Michael Moorcock books, Even as recent as this year when I revisited the earlier Eternal Champion books. Books that I first read 30 years ago. Anyhow, Great album, I need to go get the rest of their albums. I am seriously disappointed I missed out on this music for decades.

A co-worker of mine used to blast their music in his car back in the day. I never really got into them at the time, although I did like some of it. I hadn't thought about them until I saw that Pete was reviewing this album. I gave it a listen and I dig it. I'm going to be going back and checking out some of their earlier stuff.

Loved them back in the early 80s! They used to be really active (pre Internet) in corresponding with us fans. I probably still have some letters and stickers around from back then.

It's actually pretty insane how good the album is. Pre-ordered the vinyl with the posters, tote bag etc. and a t-shirt to go with. Great quality release! A band this late in their game shouldn't be so lively and expressive as they are. Hope that they'll get more coverage and a good one last tour with this release. Just wishing that they'd still record new material even if they'll totally stop playing gigs.

Pete if you have ever heard of Angelus Apatrida, check out their new release, Aftermath. They are a thrash band from Spain, it is definitely worth a listen. Love the channel, i have been a subscriber since 2019. 🤘

This album proves the influence that SoT has had personal listening during the last four years. When the last album was reviewed by SoT a couple of years back, the vocals sounded a little to harsh. But Pete has it right, the vocals sound much better - at least to these ears - after listening to some of the death metal and harsher vocals of many of the SoT albums reviewed and heard since then. Starts of rocking and only heard about a half of this so far but on the playlist for additional listenings. Thanks, Pete. Not only for the weekly review shows but getting me to listen to albums that would never have been heard otherwise.

alright, now that the video has posted...this is a great album. I can't imagine it won't be in my top ten for the yr, if not top 5. Cirith Ungol are one of those bands you recognize immediately, cuz of the vocals, but every album has a slightly different sound. I think this is a step-up from "Forever Black".

When I first bought King of the Dead, I played it 4 or 5 times a day for a year. Other than Manilla Road - Open the Gates, and Fates Warning - Spectre Within , Rush - Caress of Steel, no other albums were that interesting. It's really Heavy Prog, and it keeps growing over time. I unfortunately haven't kept up with reunion Cirith Ungol, or Angel Witch. But I definitely plan on buying some of these albums. I was a bit disappointed in the reunited Candlemass, but Cirith Ungol seems to have taken off from where they were. I have never liked any of the ' It's been 35 years, but we're back bands ' other than Cirith Ungol. I also heard that Angel Witch is just as good as they were in the early 1980s

Strange certain reaction channels react to single releases or previews as i call them say yes i like it then never review the album. With CU as you say could be Tim's vocals i love them. Same with King Diamond and Mercyful Fate.

Just a little, minimal precision here; I think the name of the band should be pronounced Kirith Ungol, in Tolkien languages the C always has this K sound. Yeah I'm such a nerd, sorry. It's a great album, thanks for the review! 🍺🤘
