Crochet dishcloths are only just catching on in England 🇬🇧. So, the information about cotton and polyester blends is really helpful. These yarns are getting easier to find here thank goodness as the shipping costs to and from America are making it difficult to warrant purchasing from somewhere like Premier. Your knowledge and advice is so so welcome. Stay safe and well everyone 🙏❤

There are UK and European brands of the same kinds of things. I just don't have access to those easily. I have heard that Stylecraft has a good kitchen cotton, but I am not sure which one it is.

Haven't tried either one of them but thanks for the information about the yarn. I have been using the regular big twist from Joanne's I was checking the yardage it is a 6oz skien and has more yardage than Red Heart 7oz skien. Thanks for all the information 👍. I have made 3 of your half circle shawl. Really love the pattern. 😍🧶🧶💕

Haven't used either. I appreciate your candor because I am pretty picky about how things feel when I'm crocheting. I understand the whole 'sticky, peach skin' thing! I literally cannot eat a fresh peach for that reason.😬 I can only handle nectarines, no fuzz! 😹

Thanks for your review. I am working with Lion Ice Cream yarn and was happy to hear your opinion of the feel. Having the same issue,. I tried the cotton an found it so rough like string. None of the Big Twist acrylics are machine dry able so I avoid them. Take care🌻

I didn't realize that. I don't normally buy big box acrylic unless I need a color for a project. It is something that is almost always available. It has been a while since I needed to pick some up. Most kitchen cottons are "durable". It helps them to hold up with very heavy washing and drying. I am not a huge fan of it in general but I love having dishies... this is one that I don't mind working with and in comparison it really is pretty nice over all.

Interesting review. I have not used either yarn. I have a different viewpoint on yarn splitting. I am left-handed, and craft left-handed, so every S-plied yarn (which is most yarn on the market) is splitty for me. It is just something to get used to.

I feel like premier home cotton is slightly smaller than lily sugar & cream and make a slightly thinner pot holder for the pattern I use. I don’t mind the 100% cotton. I do love using premier for a dish cloth or dishie because it’s slightly thinner.

Love the Big Twist Cotton Yarn colors, hate the yarn! No matter what hook I used it split, which made it very hard to work with especially since I have arthritis in my hands, twisting can be painful. I made coasters of the yarn. I have not yet tried the premier home cotton, but thats next for my trial runs. I wont be buying anymore Big Twist Cotton. I actually prefer Crafters Secret Cotton, I just wish it had a bigger variety of colors.

I struggle with most "kitchen cottons". My favorite is the Premier but the Crafter Secret is a close second! The Crafters Secret is one of the best for color fastness with machine washing and drying.

I'm always on the lookout for a good cotton yarn. I usually use I Love This Cotton from Hobby Lobby. How would you say these two would compare to each other? Thank you for the reviews. I know it helps me not waste on a yarn that I may not like. By the way, I love your lipstick!

They are different. The HL yarn is almost more like a garment cotton to me. The Premier and Big Twist are a little more durable feeling. They aren't rough like a lot of the others but they aren't like the HL. Thank you. It is a discontinued lip stick I think.

I can tell you that it is soft, loose spun, a pretty yummy cotton. I feel like it could almost work for garments, but it is a little heavy in my opinion. It works great for body and face cloths but I don't think it holds up well for hard cleaning like dishes and counter tops. It is wonderful for coaster and worsted weight doily kind of things for protecting surfaces. It holds it color well, but not through many bleaching with color safe bleach.

No... I mean if you have a 600 degree pizza stone... maybe stick with 100% cotton, but most dishes are hot enough to damage or melt through a 10-15% polyester blend. I wouldn't go beyond a 15% blend though.

While not impossible to get a good finished garment... This style of cotton, I don't think is the best to get the best most wearable garments. It is very stiff for garments and tends to lose its color faster than finer spun and dyed cottons.
