REVIEW..AC Infinity vs Standard Box Exhaust Fan

Review and comparison of AC Infinity 6", 8" and 10" inline fans vs a 6" box fan that came with our laser. Better CFM, Less noise, Less power consumption... Can AC Infinity complete the Hat-trick?

It's not as powerful as I thought it would be, but it works very well. kzread.infoUgkxGjG43--gYqIoT4Xkur2PqCrtbKwTv2h There are three options to circulate air, and best of all a remote control for us lazy people. Installation was a breeze (no pun intended). It actually took longer to open the box then it did putting the side extenders on and sitting it in the window opening. It's a perfect alternative when you want airflow, but not the AC. Just might order another one for a different room. UPDATE: Bought another one like I said. They work great. Why not have two...

Very well done, very useful test! I agree with the note below that you should have plugged in 1/2 the diameter into the calculator. One note about the box fan though: squirrel-cage blowers do much better against back pressure than conventional bladed designs, so will be better for situations where you need to maintain a higher pressure differential. This was a super-helpful video though, much appreciated!

After having the s8 for a month and using it for my Epilog Fusion Pro 32, I must say that I'm quite impressed. The air movement is more than satisfactory. Light and medium smoke clear the chamber is a 1 or 2 seconds. Heavy smoke about 4 seconds. Acrylic and leather odor still linger at times. The noise level, however, is nearly double what the manufacturer lists on their site. I called support to validate and I got canned answers that quoted their site specs. They then suggested on the very next sentence that I should purchase a larger unit to deal with the noise so I won't max the motor. Overall I'm happy but wondering if I should've ordered the s10 or s12. The minimum CFM for Epilog is 735 CFM. The problem is stepping down from a 12" to say a 4" for egress airflow. I can't find a converter. Again, thanks for the review.

Great video. One point of note though: in the CFM calculator, you entered a value of R=6 for the duct area. This would represent a duct diameter of 12" (R, "Radius" = 6). So the cross-sectional area is over-represented by 4x and the CFM's should be 1/4 of what is shown. The relative output of each fan to one another is valid, but the absolute values of CFM's are inflated.

Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make the video. No doubt that the AC Infinity blower is a great product. However the test procedures leave to many ( how can I word this) descrepancies. For instance,.. you measured readings from the inlet side of the blowers, did you record readings from the discharge side of these blowers? Perhaps in another video? Also, there is a lot of potential lost air space around the intake that your measuring device can not cover. Another words, a 6 inch opening , & the measuring device is what, about 3 inches in diameter? By no means am I an expert about measuring air velocity, & do appreciate the video.

I will be cutting and engraving wood and acrylic, and some of the sign materials from Rowmark. I found some plans for a charcoal filter that has gotten great reviews. in your software i notice that you set "R" to 6. i think "R" stands for "radius" so for a 6 inch diameter fan i think you should put "3" for "R" (remember from math class that diameter is 2 times radius) and this would likely result in one-quarter the CFM (area goes up as the square of radius) , so instead of your 2200 number it would be more like 550 which is closer to the manufacturers specs right? - the AC 6" inch is specced at 402 CFM.

The room I am covering is about 25 x 25 with a 7.5ft ceiling. We smoke alot of tobacco / hookah and need to vent out the smoke. What model do you recommend and what size duct should I use going in and out? It will be attached to collar ties with some mounting work in the attic above dry wall with an access panel. The duct will be going straight vertical to the ridge vent with a 90 degree turn from the horizontal (3ft duct) to the vertical portion(~5.5ft). Any tips on model and my idea of duct work would be greatly appreciated. Thank you sir.

Hi, I have been watching your videos... tons of them. You are articulate and very good at teaching. Thanks! I figured you would have an answer to my question about venting. I recently bought a 20 W Dewalli laser engraver. I am a newbie. The Dewalli is small with a foot print of about 24" square. I found out very quickly that I need to vent it. In doing some research I found that building a box is a good idea and adding some vent holes ignorer to help the smoke evacuate via an inline fan system. I am looking at a simple fan as the vent hole in the side of my hose in very close to the machine. The price seem to be all over the place. I am looking at he iGrowteck 4 inch inline Fan. Please let me know if there are any other ideas and or advice. Thank you very much for any help!!

Industrial grade radial fans can be very expensive. If you check websites of vendors which sell industrial grade radial fans, then you'll find the pricing for a 6" model ranges from $865 for 320 CFM / 60 dBA, to $1,274 for a 1,070 CFM / 70 dBA fan, and upwards to $4,000. Granted, the industrial grade fans will last far longer than the useful life of the equipment they support, but I'd rather plan on replacing the lower cost fans every couple of years. FYI - If you incorporate a well designed air filtration system that features (by stage) (1) a spark arrestor, (2) prefilter, (3) HEPA filter, and (4) activated carbon filter, then the air can be allowed to pass from the carbon filter back into the room. I've yet to find a commercial unit that both properly filters the air and offers affordable annual cost of operation (the filters are outrageously expensive for the hobbyist or small business owner, which is why I'm designing my own).

11:10 "The decrease of size going into it, will increase your cfm" This can't be right, or can it? If it's correct, can someone please explain how, as I'd assume decreasing the size of the inlet would have a baffle effect just like decreasing the size of the outlet would. Now, decreasing the inlet size would increase wind speed at that point, so maybe there was a math error in this where the larger diameter was used with the smaller diameter's wind speed to calculate cfm?

Hi everybody, nice video, thanks for the review. I'm not an expert but I have some comments. Can we decide which car is more powerful by measuring the wheel’s rpm and diameter while spinning on air?. You need a test the fans WITH load. How strong are those fans to pull air through the intricate system laser-ducts-filter?. See the big difference in watts?, the 380W of the stock 6” fan is like a V8 engine in comparison with the 100W (or less) of the rest that are like little 2 pistons engines. It looks to me that once you make your test under normal conditions with the laser machine, the ducts and maybe a filter attached all together to the fans, your 3 little-low-wattage duct fans are going to faint. We can see the fans as power transducers of electric energy to mechanical energy transferred to the air flow. The 380W stock fan is able to transfer almost 4 times more energy than the rest. On top of that, centrifugal fans (like the stock 6” fan) produce more vacuum or pressure than the conventional impeller used in the duct fans. Regarding the dBs, yes, always expect to have more noise from a V8 than a 2-pistons engine. I believe that the 380W stock 6” fan will be your winner under load. Cheers!

Your mph wind gauge is what's making all that noise, not the fans. The fans sounds a lot quieter

There are good and bad in everything.. would love to use the brush you paint with so I can judge everyone based on my opinion a few... what would that make you?

How about you explain a bit more. My 8" worked perfect. If you have a specific issue why it doesn't work for you then theres no reason to tell others not to buy..
