Gorgeous car dude. I have a question for you in regard to maintenance cost and reliability for a 2021 model. How has it been? Has it given you many issues, and if so, what does the cost look like? Thinking of picking up a 2021 4S or Turbo, but that's my only concern. Thanks!

@@AlecWyld So I just saw this - actually I have not had any major issues with it so far, other than the one powered charge door having a bad sensor that would cause it to not fully close maybe 4-5% of the time. That was fixed under warranty and it's good now. So, I'm really happy with it so far. One catch as I go to buy new tires: it is $800 for an alignment and you have to have the dealer do it to calibrate the cameras etc.

The owner interview was a nice addition to the video!

Incredible spec and review. I love that you continue to evolve these reviews over time. The Taycan is proof positive that you can have an incredible looking, well-built, high performance EV from a well-established company.

Loved having the owner appear in the video!

Awesome to see the owner be a part of the video and give their thoughts on their decision making process and ownership. Love that segment of the video.

I'm not a fan of EVs, but I will say, this one looks fantastic.

We love our Taycan Turbo. I'm considering buying a second one used, given how heavily depreciated they are.

Awesome review!! I loved how the guy was willing to go on camera with you to explain why he made the purchase because it makes the video a lot more intersecting hearing from the Buyer who actually put their money on the line for the car. Absolute great car for the money and a great pick.

Matt you've got some of the best reviews. Keep it up!

They just announced the Taycan Turbo GT this week which is the new fastest one. That's damn expensive though so probably ultra niche. Way too rich for me anyway.

Great review! I loved the ownership review as well. Nice touch and makes it unique

The taycan gts sport tourismo is my favorite of the lineup

I agree. But they have probably the worst resale value of any ev. Currently they’ve been losing something like 20-25% a year.

Objectively the best BEV on the market. And it got better in 2024.

Love it! Best handling EV by far. I think the Cross Turismo/Sport Turismo is more practical so would probably get one of those, but these things are an all around fantastic EV. Just crazy priced 😃

Good review! Owner review is actually refreshing and they definitely give a really good perspective on ownership of the car. That you can’t cover. Also, Taycan over Tesla Plaid any day.

Great review. I wonder what the owners charging routine is, especially with the longer drives to Cleveland. Does he charge at home, on the road, both?

Strikes me as a bit odd that you had so much preconceived negativity going into the review. At almost every aspect of the car you came across as having expectations of EVs that are a fraction of the cost from companies that don't prioritize the things that make Porsche the brand that it is. Like build quality, convenience, and driving dynamics/f

Great video, these are seemingly good deals but I wonder if they hold up with higher mileage

I can certainly report back on that one later. I'm just under 40K right now and I'll be daily driving it year around as my only car. Son of the local Porsche owners that I've met have had panic attacks when I told them I'm driving it during winter, which cracked me up. But most of those guys are 9/11 owners that only take their cars out on Sunny dry days, which seems like a bit of a waste to me.

I love the design of these cars and especially the color inside and out of this particular one. But I feel like we're going backwards in convenience and safety with no buttons whatsoever and air vents controlled in a menu in that screen. Please just leave me some regular ole hand adjustable vents and climate control. But still, beautiful car and well out of my price range so I can't complain. 😂

I hope thats ice cream spilled on the side of the seat lol

I blame the previous owner for that. That was definitely part of my negotiating. Kidding - that was salt from the recent weather that I forgot to clean off! Oops!

I'm looking at getting a 2020 Turbo. I'm curious are there any concerns with gearbox and maintenance in general? Any other physical maintenance that may come up? What were the problems with 2020 models that they had to resolve?

I've seen these 2021s going for $70k, 15k to 20k miles. Price is rapidly dropping every month it seems. Hoping to pick one up at around $60k.

Yeah, I'd rather have this than the S. I sat in a Taycan last time my Cayman was in for service & it's a nice place to be for the most part. Still too "screeny" for me, but better than the Teslas IMO. On the flip side, my friend has the Plaid, and aside from the insane pulls and the goofy wheel, it's no different than a normal S in daily driving as far as I can see....which I guess is a selling point to some, but he paid over 100k I think for that thing, and for that much I want to feel a little more special than that car does. And that sounds (and probably is) shallow, but IMO you gotta live with the car you buy, so buy something you're happy in. But for now I think I'm sticking with gas. Gonna all be forced to drive these sooner or later by legislation or cost, so I can buy one then. For now I gotta figure out what to buy in the 100-130 price point as an alternative to a 5th gen viper because the viper is a bit too tight of a squeeze for me to be comfortable driving regularly.

Yes, pretty stupid. You can switch it off (default) in the Taycan (in the Audi etron GT you cant).

I have a feeling that I would buy this EV car.

Have you seen the resale value of that. Yikes.

To be clear, you are absolutely correct. This is not a car one buys for purely practical reasons. As I said half jokingly in the video, this was a bit of a mid-life crisis fun car for me, whereas I've generally been much more practical in the past with sedans with large trunks and so forth. I'm fully expecting resale value to not be great, but I feel that the combination of features this one has will probably make it do a little bit better than some of its peers with more normal specs. But I have no illusions that I'm going to get a huge chunk of money back @ trade-in
