People often misunderstand what this car is. It's not a supercar in any way, or even a true sports car: it's more of a personal 2-seat convertible luxury car that's fast.

Incidentally, I've seen a couple of reviews that don't mention that the 6-speed auto is completely driver-shiftable, so these complaints in reviews about the car shifting wrong are just laughable to drivers who decide their own shifts.

Yeah, it's a piece of crap and a hunk of sh*t. Want to drive mine? I've been in love with this thing since I first watched them being built right here in America (in Bowling Green, KY) and I wouldn't trade mine for the world. It's got every feature I would ever need and more, complete comfort, a kick-ass drop top, and an even more kick-ass engine. And as much as I hate that they're not making them anymore, my XLR-V is now even more of a collector car.

Kinda... The XLR-V's Mercedes competitor, the SL600, is more expensive, but then again it's also more powerful and very slightly faster than the XLR-V. They're both excellent cars for reasonable prices. I don't love the CL-class, though. It's the non-convertible slightly more expensive version of the SL. Would you rather pay $2 for two cookies, or $3 for one?

I absolutely love the car. It's a weaker but much less expensive Mercedes SL63 AMG or SL600.

and better brakes :P and the fancy hard top roof should be a bit quicker, if you've ever seen it, there are some pauses,

That's a realy nice ride, but my heart goes to the Cadillac CTS-V!

XLR-V is electronically limited to just 155. As for the 0-60 times, C5 hardtop = 4.8 sec, XLR-V = 4.9 sec.

of course i will, once the credit crunch is over, i have some investments that are paying off so far... i'm probably going to buy the jaguar xkr, but it might take a few years.

Here's the deal......if they made is equal to the europe competition, it would cost 150,000. Labor is expensive here..so are parts. Now that all the big lost ( with the exception of ford ironicly) are still loosing ,money, they are taking chances on building better quality. We actually got pretty decent cars for what we paid for...and thats the key.

Almost the same thing as the BMW M6. The XLR-V is somewhat weaker, but it looks a little cooler and is a little bit less expensive.

Ha, this is basically an American SL, but this looks nice and is different and all, but I'd rather have the 3 pointed star...

GM= At least someone has to make rental cars.

911 gt3, jaguar xkr, maserati granturismo, Mercedes sl550, bmw m3, m5, m6 and my personal favourite audi s5; are all much better cars, with roughly the same price (100.000), not to mention they all look much better. How can anyone possibly buy the xlr?

@CarsAreMyThing actually jp powers assoc gave cadillac a higher liability and quality rate than merc also over the last ten years or so merc has finished near the bottom in customer service satisfaction

i have this car :D but the downside is me being a teenager the insurance is expensive but still a great car :D

that's not really true at all, if your buying a new 100k you're wealthy but it doesn't mean you can afford to spend 50% more on a car.

@mattbmx1234 The tests made are as unreliable as your statement (not very much), I mean... there was just 2 tests, both of them were neck to neck, and cts-v has 50 more horsepower... not to mention, that the guy who tested it, probably forgot to turn on the "m" button, in either waay, the guy doesnt look too reliable, in a way: know nothing about cars, or sports cars; the only reliable tests are made in top gear!!; remember that; at least their cars are driven by pro racing drivers

@heartboy86 It's the build of a vette with no real form it;s all boxy and then the front end is identical to like and escalade. The interior looks cheap and the car isn't all that fast for a $100,000 car. Sorry but I wouldn't spend a penny on this car.

M6? The M5 would kill this car and it costs even less than the M6, heck ! the M3 would kill this car having the best V8 production engine. Although the CTS-V is quite nice they shouldve put 500+ bhp on the XLR-V

Except that the engine is built and mexico and most of the car is built in Canada. The car was not worth it's price, period.

I am not sure if it was a V or not but there was too much traffic to run. I'd rather get a new Z06 for less money and it's FAR better looking and faster.
