Reverb on Acoustic Guitar? Here's How to Do It ★ Acoustic Tuesday 267

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Why do you sound so good in the shower? Can you replicate that sound on your acoustic guitar? What's stopping you from getting that cathedral sound? It all comes down to reverb pedals.
On this episode, we'll talk about using reverb pedals on acoustic guitar. Using pedals on guitar feels like mixing oil and water, but it's easy and intuitive once you understand how to do it. Reverb can feel like a particularly tricky effect on the acoustic guitar, but I promise it's worth adding.
I'll start by giving a quick rundown of how reverb works. From there, you'll hear when to use reverb. Finally, you'll get the top five reverb pedals I recommend to students and friends. Whether you want something simple or a complete mind-bending reverb pedal, I have a recommendation for you.
Reverb on acoustic guitar shouldn't be an afterthought in you rig. Even if you're new to guitar, it's worth springing the funds for. Here's why: if it helps you pick up the guitar, play, and find joy in your guitar playing, then just do it.
You don't need to justify getting a delay pedal. You don't have to wait until you're "good enough." I highly encourage you to take the plunge, have fun, and explore effects pedals on your acoustic guitar.

I switched to acoustic because I didn't understand all the knobs and such that come with "gear." I just like picking and strumming

I love a bit of reverb with my Taylor. I use the reverb from my Fender amp, but pedals are great too. I sometimes use chorus via a pedal but except in certain situations I don't find it as nice as using just reverb. I am going to add delay too.

I use a Boss RV-6 on the modulate mode with my acoustic all the time. I crank the level and turn the tone almost all the way down. It's incredible.

I use a Strymon Blue Sky on Room setting. I like the adjustability on the decay setting and sounds great on Steel and Nymon strings. I use the shimmer setting for about 10 seconds a gig too. 😂

I’ve used the Boss RV-6, Great sounding pedal, simple and also have several features that make it very user-friendly. It has an analog dry path, which retains the original tone qualities of your acoustic guitar. Great price for such a versatile pedal.

If you are getting unwanted artifacts when running an accoustic guitar through a reverb pedal, you need to compress the accoustic signal to fit the bandwidth of the reverb pedal that was designed for the smaller bandwidth of an electric guitar... 💥

I have reverb and chorus in my Yamaha TransAcoustic and love it. I also own a Lag HyVibe guitar with reverb and many other effects that can be added. A lot of fun especially the looper function you can play over. Lastly I have a Fender acoustic amp with reverb and chorus that I use. No pedals but still some fun options.

My Yamaha Transacoustic dreadnaught guitar has reverb on board. Comes right out of the soundhole and sounds great! I also have tried a ToneWood Amp, but I did not like the sound as well.

Hey Tony... Love the Strymon Flint for both acoustic and electric. Even for electric it's basically all I need for an amazing tone (in addition to a Wampler Tumnus for a little growl). Now for the real reason of my post😉 Since Christmas is getting close, I "need" to tell you about an amazing Christmas album! Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks "Crazy for Christmas". He has led an acoustic based swing band since the early late 60's... Think Leon Redbone meets Frank Zappa (but not quite as crazy). The songs are acoustic driven, very original (yet not over the top) and just plain fun with a very cool, laid back vibe. I was going to send you a CD but unfortunately it's only available streaming right now. But as an acoustic guitar geek it's your duty to give it a listen😎 I'm a 3 month new TAC and FW member am catching up on all your video's. As a Navy veteran I am also extremely thankful for your Guitars for Vets program. Thank you so much for your service to the vets. Kevin

I think that a compressor is better, you get a light sustain without the horrible jangly effect. I use a jomeek mcq for live playing.

I was thinking about a Loudbox Mini to enhance my beautiful Furch acoustic electric. I've never had an amp before, and just started looking into electronics. I naivey thought that everything I needed was part of the acoustic amp, except for a looping pedal. What else should I have, besides a reverb? There must be a KZread guide on this, perhaps through Acoustic Life, which I've also just discovered.

@@peterbecker2360 - I nerded out and the Loudbox Mini fit what I need right now. I've used it in coffee shop settings a few times and it projects sound really good, not just the guitar but voice too. Plus I was able to bluetooth music through it when I took a break. Sweetwater had a nice package I purchased "Songwriter" package. Still haven't written my first song :), but working on it. I recently got a looper pedal, but still learning it. Keep Playing! My motto is start small and build as my skills build - I try to get the best quality I can afford for my skill-level.

I’ve heard the word, “reverb” often over the years as I’ve played flute as part of a church worship team, but never understood what it meant until I watched this episode. I just joined TAC last week and am only starting out with the experience of reading music. I’ve been wanting to learn guitar for a while, but I was too busy raising kids over the last twenty years to put practice time in. Now, my nest is almost empty, so I have no excuse to not learn now.

Man, your content is good but you have to trim the fluff and filler and irrelevant commentary. You like the sound of your own voice too much. Sorry but guitarists are looking for content.
