Great Video…. Just picked up a RFM and still running 1.1 code. Just updated to the newest 2.5 code via my pinball and everything went swimmingly well! One thing to note, that when adding the command line, the 0150 part reflects whatever version your updating to. I had to change mine to 0250 since that’s the version I updated to. Found this video on pinside. Thanks for making it. As a new owner of a RFM with a software version of 1.1, I was looking for a step by step process on how to do this and your video delivers. USB cable ordered, hopefully, I'll be updating by Wednesday.

Great video. We just bought a revenge from mars machine. It's running 1.2. Your video is great to show me how to update. One question do you have to use a PC or can you use an laptop? I'm suspecting I can't. If you could let me know. Also where can I find the differences between 1.5 and 2.1? I'll keep researching. Thank you for any help.

You can use a laptop but it needs to be running windows. I don’t know how to make it work on Mac. You should be able to see the differences and additions of the new code which is ver 2.5 in the description. Links in the description

Hi, thanks in advance for any help. I have a star wars ep.1 pinball machine without the computer. The pinball machine is almost finished, but the computer is missing. I want to use an old generic computer to make it work. Do you know anyone who can clone the original pinball hard drive and send me the hard drive image? Or another solution would be to find the original computer. Thanks for your help.

I just installed version 2.22!

Couldn't get the software to work on windows 10 due to it being 32bit. However mypinballs.com rewrote their own software for it to work on 64 bit systems. I used the same cable you recommended as well as changed the com port (i had to look up the motherboard manual as I couldn't tell which it was). Changed the USB cable port designation and was good to go. It was painless. The software does cost 25 GBP but it did work flawlessly

Which version do you like the stock 1.5 or the modded 2.1.. I just picked up a Revenge from Mars. So I'm looking to do a few updates and mods.. any other suggestions?! Holy shit! just turn mine on this morning check the firmware version I'm on 1.1! I ordered the cable I definitely will be doing the update!

No luck trying it here but great vid! - I have tried a Win7 and a Win10 PC, have the same USB harness, same software (tried both), checked CPU Comm1, plugged direct vs the coin door port etc, nada.. On Win7 it acts like it's going to start but sits at 0, then the window disappears and on the Win10 it quickly flashes 'fupdate: Pin2000 failed to acknowledge packet (0)'.. Worst part is this thing is running version 0.90!!!! Brutal..

@@andyzolapinz8945 hi, I had this same issue, they way I got around it was to have the cable plugged directly into the RFM pc and my laptop then I turned the game on, updated like a charm, I also used version 2.2 and changed it to 0220 on the command line, hope this helps you 😊

I read that there are a PUB version of 1.5 to SW Ep 1 but i can´t find the "usual" ROM version of that one... Someone has any idea of where to look?

the attrackt mode on 2.0+ is so UGLY but still thanks for the tutorial i have my RFM on 1.1 and i need to get it to 1.5

Will this work if using a newer OS?

Yes should work using any windows OS. If you run windows 10 you should be good.
