is commentator out of nut?? "the most cruel round in entire Vitali's career"?? did he watch Lewis fight? every round of that Klitsko - Lewis fight was a way more cruel for Vitali than 1st rd against Sanders. Sander connected with 2 semi-big punches. and that's all. he tried to chase Vitali and hit him one more time, but Sanders failed. knock down? are u mad? KD with out any punch in last 30+ seconds? what an idiot... Vitali rampage Sanders inevery round except 1st one. and in 1st Vitali has just defended himself missing 2 punches, when Vitali missed up to around 5 big power punches agisnt Lewis in almost every rd. and those punches did not affect him. only in 6th rd Lewis gained advantage over Vitali, who outscored Lewis in 1-5 rd.

@@rafalradziwill9017 David Haye was a glorified heavyweight, not a big name, Brewster was way better when he was a lot younger. My point is his 2 toughest opponents he lost... his style was not very dynamic , jab jab hold like a big giant robot fighting in Germany not promoting the heavyweight title I mean these are facts and No one can deny them... He beat the tomato cans and decent fighters available to him but again he lost when he got real competition the fact that he was older didn't really matter the guy was a maniac in the gym and nutrition and very strict.... The one fight I give him a lot of respect for is the 1 against Joshua where he almost knocked him out... Again I'm not saying hes a bad fighter but when I think of the top 12 greatest heavyweights in history he is not on that list... I mean Corrie Sanders of all people pretty much aggressively destroyed him.. Vladimir could have made so much more money if he came to USA and got better promoters instead of hiding out in Germany fighting MOSTLY tomato cans...G day

If Sanders were managed earlier and better, he probably would have been a big one in boxing. And Wladimir Klitschko, on the other hand, is criticized for not having to assert himself against any comparable opponents. The Ukrainian can hardly be criticized for not dominating the heavyweight era. And the accusation that Klitschko has always chosen only "victims" and no real opponents in his career is difficult to hold. Ex-world champions Samuel Peter, Chris Byrd, Sultan Ibragimow, Hasim Rahman, Ruslan Chagaev, David Haye and Alexander Povetkin appear in the battle record of "Dr. Steelhammer". With the exception of his brother, he never avoided a big name from his generation. On the contrary, many boxers did not dare to box against him and gave a refusal. He received 11 rejections before Sanders agreed. You should be aware of that. The Klitschkos are a legend an one of the best boxer in history. 10 years unbeaten as world heavyweight champion.

This is a very underrated bout though Sanders ultimately took one hell of a beating. I had never seen Corrie Sanders before I saw him KO Wlad in 2003. I watched because I'd seen Wlad stop Ray Mercer and Jameel McCline. Sanders left hook was a revelation. It was a blur and a bomb. He was old at 37 and not a big name so many thought Wlad had been exposed but Sanders was for real. Three months later Vitali fought Lennox Lewis in the Staples Center in the greatest heavyweight fight involving either of the brothers, one for the ages and a fitting end to the career of one of the very greatest heavyweights of all time, only clearly surpassed by the Greatest IMO. I never understood before why Sanders fought no one until Vitali after Wlad. Its a shame because he deserved a ring walk as the World Heavyweight Champion and he was often thrilling in the ring. Before the K Bros Sanders mowed down 38 relatively undistinguished opponents Ross Purity (Wlad's only prior loss), Bobby Czyz and the cruiserweights Carlos de Leon and Johnny Nelson perhaps the best of them but was KO'ed by Cincinnati journeyman Nate Tubbs a decade earlier and then Hasim Rahman in 2000. Rahman's stopping Lewis in Johannesburg a year later provides perspective as Sanders just had a bad night. It was hard for a 6'3" 220 pound athletic white South African with a lightning left but two unglamorous KO losses to get good fights. He offered a bad risk to reward ratio. Sanders was the one fighter Vitali fought after Lewis who looked like he might win at any point in the ring, so there can be no doubt he had the goods in retrospect. Lewis did a good deed managing him into that fight. I wish Sanders had fought Lamon Brewster though. Two weeks before Vitali battered Sanders, an outgunned Brewster got pounded for four rounds but had the grit to recognize that Wlad was gassed in the 5th and jump him. Brewster became the third man to stop Wlad but the last for 13 years! I think Sanders was probably better, but Brewster had the heart of a lion. Other than Wlad in the 2007 rematch and Robert Helenius in his last bout in 2010 no one ever stopped Brewster. He was 33-2 after stopping Wlad with 28 KOs. His next fight in September is one worth watching again--a SD war over Kali Meehan. Brewster then had a 1st round KO of Golota and 9 round KO of then 29-1 Luan Krasniqi in Germany. Both men always came to fight and it could have been an epic bout. Sanders death makes him the kind of hero and champion whose legacy cannot be improved though. He should never be forgotten. His immense courage is clear in this fight and it did not fail him or his daughter when he faced the ultimate test. Requiem eternam dona ei, Domine et lux perpetua luceat ei.
